buy an associated rc8rs if you want race performance at a rtr price other than that personal preferance buy from online also it can save you up to 100 dollars
Hard saying really, so much of it is personal preference. I guess one thing to consider right from the get go, is if your local hobby store doesn't stock parts, it could be a real pain for on-going support. And you will break parts. I suggest you talk to your LHS and look at buying something they support. Aside from that, there's boatloads of choices.
Spec Class. Stock everything. Maybe a one step up pinion here and there (per OEM option) and a 2-Cell Lipo would be the only "approved" options that I know of.

The associatted b4 is a great buggy and is not to pricy, great speed and handling, and u can get a it in a kit or rtr
