True, there is a fairly steep learning curve to the Ergo and other similar carriers (like the Pikkolo).
That's why I mostly sell the Beco Butterfly Baby Carrier now...it has an insert that makes back carrying really easy, like putting on a backpack. It's also much taller and more slim-fitting than the Ergo as well. I don't even sell the Ergo anymore.
This video is about 3.5 years old. I was newly pregnant with my youngest here, and now he is 2.5 years old! :-)
I am now using my Ergo with a third child and I want to warn viewers that using a Teddy bear to demonstrate the carrier downplays how truly difficult it can be to learn to use the Ergo. I love it - it is beyond comparison when it comes to comfort - but the learning curve is steep, in my opinion. I recommend watching demos using real babies and toddlers to see the potential difficulties.
Just wanted to let people know, that you CAN use the front carry with a baby over 20lbs, some 6 month olds are over 20lbs and can comfortably use the front carry.
Yupp my son is 30lbs at 11months and I carry him just fine on my front and I am not a big person. Im so used to his weight as he has always been a big boy that I dont even notice. Its easier that way if hes sleepy and we are getting on the train. Then I can sit down. :)
i LOVE the ergo ! thanks for the video. my how- to dvd skipped!!

Stop using it when it is no longer comfortable.
