Her playing and the pure sound of the piano and the composition of the concerto.... washes me away... Bless you Valentina and bless your playing... greatest pianist ever :) I love you
its just so amazing to hear how beautiful are all the 2nd movs of all four Rachmaninoff's piano concertos... would be tough to say which one is the most beautiful.
@michael80009 LOL, because when recording obviously the amount of sound the mics pick up is incredible, so even the slightest movement is heard. She commented on one of her other videos that you need to wear 'loose' clothing so nothing rubs and makes any noise.
She doesn't only play notes.. she plays Rachmaninoff.. music isn't notes and beats.. it's what the person felt when they wrote it.. and she feels him so well.. you can actual hear the mans tear drops hit the key board!!!!
Ha! Nobody ever plays this movement unless they're playing the whole concerto. People usually just play the first movement and then do something else. It's nice to see this now on YouTube; I think it's one of the most beautiful things he wrote.
Eres como un ángel Valentina, tu ejecución me emociona y toca hasta lo más profundo de mi ser, tus manos hacen cantar el piano con voz propia, muy profunda y muy íntima a la vez, es un poema musical.
I wonder what Horowitz would have thought of Valentina if he were still alive. She is by far my favorite contemporary pianist, along with that of Stephen Hough, Evgeny Kissin, and Arcadi Volodos. I hope that one day she is truly appreciated by the music industry, as she is a pure genious with the piano.
@massimiliano123123 just because he won the Chopin piano competition and his piano playing and interpretation is beyond human capacity does not make him better, she is just as good as he is, They just have different styles of playing and diversity is good, shut-up and think before you make a self-attacking argument or comment. And enjoy the music instead of comparing pianists, it only makes your life an unnecessary waste of time and sad.
Valentina surely is a gifted musician. Thanks to her from me for all the Rachmaninoff. Absolutely beautiful music!

Valentina,
what are you feeling, when you are playing piano?
I think, it must be a happiness like amorousness.
Isn't it?

When you play, I can see Rachmaninoff watching from the wings, arms folded across his chest, a hint of a smile on his lips, and nodding in approval.

What do you get if you drop a piano down a coalmine shaft? A Flat Minor!
