  • This part of the competitions its obsolete into Ice skating. I dont understand the roller skating is using now.

  • didnt now us did figures of 8

  • So...in figure skating you have to retrace your markings. In roller skating, do you keep the line between the wheels, or what? What is the standard they are looking for?

  • in Australia we banned all judges and coaches (my coach is a guy so i have no problem) from wearing heels its to distracting especially when your training junior international figures.... lol

  • it's like figures... wow nice job

  • i would probs be easier to roller blade, cause it takes me about 45 mins to get to the rink :/

  • No not that different, I do figures on roller skates not figure. I've tried ice but don't get time too go, there is no ice rinks where I live.

  • I do figure skating, but would really like to have a go at roller skating, is it much different?

  • Is this figure 1?

  • i would NEVER be able to stay on those lines. maybe on ice nut not on skates. lol but she was great =D

  • Can you skate on ice too??? I skate on ice....my opinion is that ice is easier...;)

  • @lolmonkey98 She has tried ice. But likes roller skating most so far. :)

  • it is boring, easy and not nice

  • i hate no idea about this. wow it's JUST like on ice!

  • wow, i didn't know they did that in rollerskating/still do it. I figure skate, but never had to do figures. My mom always tells me how she would get stuck on a certain figure test, and I can see why. Figure skaters these days don't have to do figures, but I wish we did.

  • I always hated figures on ice.

Do all roller figures have the pattern painted on for practice? I haven't seen anyone use a pattern laid out for them (except when learning it), it was usually only the edges from the blade to look at. But I guess with wheels they need something to compare them with. Is this the case?

  • she is good at figures

  • Thats good. I'm an intermidiate figure skater.

  • that is pretty good. I kan tell and i ice skate, not roller skate. haha

  • Thank you.

  • ya i am a figure skater and ur comment confused me but i dont even remember what my comment was on anymore

  • Ok... The comment went to the wrong place. Whatever, I'm not going to delete it. XD

  • ya they r meant 4 figure skaters

  • Those are figure skaters, but that is a special test, you could call it, not a competition or anything. Instead of doing a complete program with music and all you only do single elements the judges ask you for because that's necessary to get to the next level. Notice they have no toepics(?). :P Because on roller skating you have 2 pairs of skates, 1s to use normally, with toepic, and the other ones without toepic to do obrigatory figures like the girls are doing.

  • i'm a roller skater too its really fun!!

  • It sure is fun!

  • i ice skate

  • i think those outfits were kinda meant for figure skaters =\

  • lol they are do you skate?

  • yeah lol do you?

  • yea im in freestyle 5 and joining usfsa soon as i get my axel but might join earler

  • really? i think i skipped the freestyles lol i got to freestyle 2 and went to pre-preliminary... im in juvenille now :] you should join and i hope you get your axel!

  • They are figure skaters. :P They're just doing a special test, not exactly competing (there are competitions on obrigatory figures, still, but those are not the normal competitions you guys are used to watch, with music and all). They do programs too, but you need to pass in obrigatory figures to get some next levels. My english is awful but I hope it's understandable. XD

  • yeah that's like how figure skaters have to do moves (figures) too, before we can get very far.... oh and your english is finee ;) lol

  • Yeah, you always have to get past those (horrible :x) tests. My english sucks. XD

  • Wow. I am a pretty good figure skater, but I can probably do that. People say you can't usually roller skate if you can ice skate. I havent tried ever since starting Figure Skating 5 days a week. I wonder if I can even do any roller skating at all... Hmmm. I'll try.

  • what level are you in im in freestyle 5-6 and i skate evryday

  • WOW :]

I'm guessing she's pretty good in figures now, but some friendly advice would be her first strikeoff should have her feet closer together. a nice tuck really gives you power and also pass the foot a little b4 the half marking.

I saw you two at the last dance contest in Orange.

I skated elementary b solo dance at the contest.

  • are u the one standing beside her?

  • Gosh no. That is her coach, Candice Heiden.

  • i agree with xoLIQIDCARAMELLxo

  • i do ice skating and you do some of the same stuff it called moves in the feild

  • How old is she?

  • She was 9 here, but is 10 now.

  • wow......

  • if this is figure one y does she pass her foot b4 the half mark instead of on it?

  • I have no idea. I'm her mother and I don't know a thing about figures. lol Sorry.

  • lol. rele. just like mine. all u need to know is no toe stops, number on ur dress, and u go around circles. lol

  • figures! i hate figures unless there loops! loops are fun. lol.

  • shes really good, i love watching the little kids to figures it always amazes me as to how they get around without touching down

  • i do that on the ice and its called moves in the field

  • fielmoves

    wre do these on ice

  • very nice

  • Exuse me, hello from Bologna Italy

  • Hello in Italy this exercise is a component obligatory for FHIP federation, the classific is point artistic+ compulsory (or circle or obbliga) and are exercise difficult because the judge see the error at one meter. Beautiful exercise.

  • she is really good! my friend has to do this, and she told me how hard it was! that was very good!

  • Very nice. I've always found figure 1 to be harder than figure 2. She had nice rotation, but she should try bringing her heel in closer to her toe when she pivots to help keep her hips square.

  • shes good!!! What placment did she get? =)

  • Thank you. She placed fifth.

  • can you do a versio of this for inline skates???

  • I have not seen it done. I don't know if you could or not. I know they do freestyle on inlines.

  • i ruubish at that but i have now seen a kida of thing like that

  • Ice Figure skaters use to do these so I guess it's not a lost art after all. Trying to match a pattern on ice is not as easy as it looks. Nice job.

  • Thank you. Figures are still pretty popular for roller skaters.

  • that was pretty good what level?

  • This was Primary A, thanks.

  • yea. figures have balance and so many other things . I am really horrible at figures ... REALLY HORRIBLE. figuree 11B and 1B is like ... really hard for me. Salchows are hard.. but figures arent so simple either.

  • that is so simple

ive been skating a year now and i can do salcos!!!

  • Figures are not so simple. They are a lot harder than they look. Good luck with your salchows.

  • not as simple as they look. ud have to try brackets, counters, rockers, flats... so on. besides ive been skating for 9 yrs and i can do dble salcows with ease

  • Does she do dances ?

  • No, she does not do dance, at least not yet. Last year was her first year of skating, so she is new to everything. She begs her coach to let her do dance, so maybe next season. Thanks for commenting.

  • Ooops, a bit of a wiggly free leg - very nice tough!

  • She is 9. She has tried ice skating and can do some jumps, but as her mother I don't like the sharp blades. Thank you.

  • How old are you? Have you tried ice skating? You would

do really well if you did.

  • Very good!

  • Thank you.
