@SOADslipsURknot this isn't a medley. this song is part of a musical suite. with a suite, several musical ideas are introduced throughout the peice, and most are reprised later, if they're important enough. for instance, "repentance" is a continuation of some of the musical ideas set forth in "this dying soul". the suite is more a song than a group of songs. if you look at the song six degrees of inner turbulence, it's split up into 8 parts, but its all one song. that's the way i look at this.
