Hey listen ,i was talking to a XRS guy he knows more about 2zz engines than me, his 2zz engine can rev to 9000 RPM . Check his video Redliner9K, his car has a CircuitWorx Oil pump to and few mods to rev all they way to 9k!! I Seen those XRS here in PR they are killing Hondas only K Series stand a chance against the 2ZZ engines. No joke!!
only 120? hahahahah i know it sounds like all talk but my dads old mitsubishi mighty max could smoke this corolla. sorry. go buy your self one thats been taken care of and for a little 2.4 liter you will be impressed with this truck. hahah.
@SoL21jeanne silvertop has vvti which is economy orientated, and opens at low rpm, unlike vvtl-i which is performance orientated and opens at high rpm.
@SoL21jeanne ur 4age doesnt have lift.....no stepped buckets, no OEM sensor no large bore short stroke engine for u. its all gravy for u and ur 4age. top engine! :)
@w00t692 , the Toyota 2zzge can handle it , i have seen many local guys tunning them at dyno sessions, and some them keep them at 8500 but, those who mostly are racing these engines at the races , tune them to 9000rpm ,and still have not heard of any of them blowing up. Im from PR ,and you would be amazed what locals do with Toyotas, Rotaries,Mitsubishis, Hondas ,Nissan, and even Hyundais. Dont be so skeptikal about it. Honda isnt the only engine that can rev to 9000RPM.
You left out a valvetrain (springs, retainers, keepers, seats) You don't put that and you're kissing things goodbye kinda soon.
And for the guy that said rev it to 9k stock with a tune? I don't do that on my fucking Honda either. The only Honda i do that on is my s2000... which revs to 9000 stock. My si i don't rev past 8600 rpms. considering the 2zz is the same rod to stroke ratio as the si, i don'g suggest you rev the 2zz past 8600 or so either... Unless you want a mess.
@WeSleYc16 ---Wear n tear will happen to any engine if you dont take proper care of your engine. Always check fluid levels, a good oil , check hoses , belts and filters. And yes it will burn a lot more gas , but it all depends on your driving , if you have a heavy left foot and you like to race against anyone even your own shadow , of course it will use more gas. But the APEX PFC will be a big upgrade in your car along with a free flowing intake and exhaust.
@The44445544 ,Yes my friend the lobe ring in the oil pump can be damaged when oil starvation happens in the 2zzge. Most commonly its due to driver error over reving the engine when downshifting. This was commonly on early version of the 2zzge (2003) 2004 engines came with beefier bolts and smog pump. Also noticed that this engine requires 91 octane engine to perform at its best also a good quality oil helps mantain this engine perform at its best.
Also would like to take the opportunity to correct myself about the use of Apex PFC , its great to program the "lift"to open around 5500 rpm ,but avoid over revving the engine past 8600 rpm. This is the only flaw of the 2zzge ,oil starvation above 8600 rpm. Otherwise the 2zzge its a great engine. I hope this helps. Peace out my friends.
I have a 2006 XRS, and I tell you what... I get the same deep body satisfaction out of gunning it down every freeway onramp. But it pains me to hear this guy hitting the RPM limiter over and over. Ouch. What I wouldn't give to get an after market ECU that made the hi-lift kick in around 5500 instead of having to wait until 7K. I mean, really, once I've rev'd up that high, I mean to go as fast as possible... am I right?

2ZZ-GE 1.8L, check it out AMAZING ENGINE! Its used in the newer celica's as well
Sxxy59wa6 2 years ago
i got a Celica M sport limited edition (210bhp stock) does it have the same engine?
STranZ1 2 years ago
Yes it does, nice car btw. You should feel a kick in the car at around 6000rpm. Depending on the model is where it kicks in.
Sxxy59wa6 2 years ago
Get a Apex power fc and program it to open lift at 5,500rpm and redline 9000rpm. trust me . you will thank me later.
the13joker 2 years ago 21
true. my boy gonna do that to his corolla.. the apex rulez

Hey man is the APEX power FC the best? or can i use other models? is that the model that i specifically need to use for my XRS?

@the13joker hey i was wondering if this would put wear n tear on the engine? also it probably burns a lot more gas? Im thinking about doing this

In South Africa we have the same engine (2ZZ) in a different car called the RunX RSi.. But lift kicks in at 6200rpm for us..
