Damn this version always 'afrobeats' me out. proper solid, bought Budos Band III amazing and such great focus and composure when playing live, sheer funky goodness. I live in England, when for fak sake are they coming to 'ahem' sunny Britain???
These guys are afrofunk awesome, just discovred them months ago, thought i'd be bored of them now.....oh how wrong I am anyone know if they are coming to England to lay down da funk.
Prompted by this video, I just bought Budos' CD (Budos Band II) and I was left speechless. Incredible and outright solid. Each of the songs, especially Chicago Falcon, Budos Rising, Ride or Die, King Cobra, Origin of Man, Scorpion, and Deep in The Sand have this amazing jazz-funk beat with subtle Ethiopian undertones. This band is somethin' else. Hail to Daptone Records.
Budos are one bad ass band. What an incredible rendition of Mulatu Atatke's "Yekatit." I'm an Ethiopian and it's amazing that these cats' interpretation of one of Mulatu's classic compositions is simply the best I've ever heard. The fellas on the horns are super chill, especially the bari and tenor saxophonists. Ethiopia lives!
