Depending on the upcoming MLB draft this kid needs to sign his fat contract and play baseball. His future is not in football. Just looking at this tape alone, not very inspiring. Is there even another athlete on this field besides him. While Bubba could play in any state and be successful, if he weren't in Kansas playing football, ,baseball would be the obvious choice.
He should play baseball. His arm, while powerful, is raw. And all that speed he shows against poor KS high school football competition will be minimized once he gets into college and 240 pound linebackers start attacking his knees and thighs. He reminds me of Joe Mauer. I would have loved to have seen Mauer play college football, but he made a great choice.

Do it as well as you can. I wish you the best and NO INJURIES!!! I hope you get to the top of what you want.
He probably won't suit up for Nebraska this year. It's hard to turn down a multi million dollar deal to play professional baseball. He can use his commitment to Nebraska as leverage negotiating his deal as well.
But if he does come to Nebraska, he's already been told he won't redshirt. I'm not sure he stays at QB either. If he puts on 10-20 pounds, he could be a freakish TE in the Vernon Davis mold. Or stay at the same weight and become a big WR with great speed.
@TheMan16111 he signed the letter of intent to show IF he does go to college he will go to Nebraska he is still undecided if he will go pro or not and will likely know after baseball season
@HDDemonicGaming Yeah but I think he could make more going to college and improving in college and then going into the draft, because lets face it he would go in the first round if he went to college, if he goes right out of high school there are a lot of things that can happen and end his career early, and he won't make as much straight out of high school, and he will have a shorter career
they say he's thinking bout comin to NU for football. man that would be cool. Taylor Martinez cud be our new runningback. o btw, what's the name of this song??
@TMagicHusker New runningback? lol I don't think Taylor's exactly built to play RB, physically or mentally. And what do you suppose we do with Burkhead?
@diehardhusker10 No, its just he is very fast, and elusive, so he would be hard to cover, or maybe a corner is where he could play, but I think he could have good hands.
@TheMan16111 If anything safety, but not for NU. At WR he would be predictable, as nothing but a deep threat, because I highly doubt he can run a decent route.
@diehardhusker10 With training he could but that was what he was recurited at a saftey so he might go back because we have a dual threat coming out of texas, jamal turner who signed, and cody green probably will pay next year because taylor is not that amazing trying to play hurt, so I dont know who will play I think it will Green, because starling could redshirt, and I think turner probably will
@Aggies4lifedog Yeah hes got the speed but i dont know what they are gonna do with him since they moved turner and the redshirt freshman did amazing in the spring game his name is brion crions or similar, so I dont really know
@mistaspot1 cool someone can add cool background music and clips of cheerleaders, it looks no different than any of our games...Search "Blue Valley Tigers vs Gardner Edgerton Blazers Semi-Finals 5A Highlights" This shows the substate game of my team (Blue Valley) against Bubba Starlings team Gardner.
@mistaspot1 htt*p://w*ww.omaha.com/article/20101225/BIGRED/712259900/0 Read this article about him (delete the *s) its a great read and will let you know more about his athltic ability and scouters views.........and he is not being overrated i agree he needs to work on his passing ability a little bit but when you are 6-5 and run a 4.4 its not as important at this point
@mistaspot1 every STATE puts out great quarterbacks, im just saying everyone from Texas talks about how all their players are so much better but the fact is the average player from Texas is basically the same as the average player from Kansas or any other state its just because of the size of the state like you said that that they put out more top prospects
@GetGraped69 You are correct to an extent. Fact is, texas has a larger population of black people. And lets be honest, Kansas and nebraska doesnt have a large of a black population. Only in large cities will you find black people. So in terms of white players who are good, yes texas doesnt have superior talent by virtue because its texas-just because they have a larger population (common sense). But texas and all of SEC country does have more black people=more athletes who are quick...
If your a gunslinger in college chances are high you won't win a national title but being a gunslinger will take you to the next level and you will be well prepared. I think starling will have a good college career but nothing really special look for him to be a way better pro.
I love how everyone from Texas like @mistaspot1 think just because their from Texas all the High School athletes their are so much better than everywhere else especially at football. Bubba Starling would be an all state athlete whether he lives in Kansas or Texas and this game was against probly the worst team Gardner played all year that's why the tackling looks so bad. Get all your high and mighty Texas bullshit outta here.
@GetGraped69 Right because we don't have a tradition of putting out great quarterback prospects, right? Oh, a few come to mind: Darron Thomas, Ryan Mallett, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Christian Ponder, Greg McElroy... just to name a few.
Fact is, there's more competition here in high school football, because it's such a big state and it's so spread out so there are more high schools. Smaller states just don't have the level of competition we have. He's talented, but probably over-hyped.
@GetGraped69 If you want to see what Texas high school football looks like, search YouTube for "Lake Travis vs Hendrickson 9-3-10" and watch that video. They look like college kids compared to these kids.
@UpstairsClient He had an amazing season; it's just too bad he got injured. I figured that was bound to happen. The freshman in him really showed at times (both in play and on the sidelines), hopefully he grows....I just hope he doesn't go the way of Jammal Lord or Bobby Newcombe (when Bobby was the starting QB)...
This is the wackest high school football I've ever seen. These kids suck. They wouldn't make it in Texas.
Why is it so hard for Nebraska to understand that the job of the quarterback is primarily to throw the ball. If he can run, too, then great. But if he's categorized as a "dual-threat" and only throws bombs (no bullets) that usually means he can't throw worth a shit.
Recruit a pocket passer, Nebraska, for the love of God.
@mistaspot1 do you know anything about college football? seriously do you? or do you just open your mouth and dont know anything about what you're talking about. dual threat qbs in college football are far more successful than regular qbs. look at how many college teams have a duel threat qb and look at how they rank. a qb who can both run and throw in college football is much better off. you're an idiot kid.
@babaganush00 I think we in Texas know a little bit more about football than Nebraskans do. It's kind of a religion here. Like I said, if a quarterback is categorized as a dual threat and HE ONLY THROWS BOMBS NOT BULLETS then that usually means he can't throw worth a shit. You have to be able to throw bullets to make it in college or pro football.
@mistaspot1 One of the best college football quarterbacks of all time (Vince Young) was known for his running and really can't throw worth a shit. "HE ONLY THROWS BOMBS NOT BULLETS" just a laughable statement by anyone claiming to know about football. A good quarterback isn't determined based on his ability to throw really fast, short passes. A good QB should be able to read defenses and coverages, go through his progression, and make the right decision as well as have a strong, accurate arm
@mistaspot1 The Longhorns have 4 National Titles. The Huskers have 5. I'd say Nebraska knows as much about football as Texas does......
Oh and don't forget to look up Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost, Brook Berringer, Turner Gill, Jerry Tagge, Zach Taylor, Erich Crouch, Steve Taylor, Joe Ganz
@mistaspot1 kmcmanus took the words right out of my mouth. and no you dont have to be able to throw bullets to make it in college football are you kidding me right now. taylor martinez, our current qb, cant throw bullets for shit. he can make some decent passes and has an ok long ball but has blazing speed and can make decent reads. did he make it? i think so seeing has he'll be a preseason heisman candidate next year and if not for injuries would have led us undefeated faggot.
@babaganush00 Again, take my word for it. We know quarterbacks in Texas. You need to have a strong arm and you need to be able to throw bullets. When you're running a 2 minute offense, you can't depend on long bombs and scrambles. How have to be able to gun it for quick first downs. I know Taylor Martinez can't throw for shit! That's my whole point! We kicked your asses this year. LOL!
@mistaspot1 oh yeah im gonna take your word for it that makes so much sense. and you "need" to be able to throw bullets huh? just to pick out a few of the qbs you named. andrew luck, ryan mallett, greg mcelroy. what bowls did they go to? what bowl is cam newton in? how about tim tebow a few years back? both running qbs. 2 minute drills mean nothing in college football if you're already blowing the other team out. which is what running qbs do. and i bet more running qbs won the title than non
@mistaspot1 ha ha ha i played for gardner and moved to vegas and ripped a texas team a new asshole u suck thats why your posting negative crap about a kid uve never played fuck u u suck and u know it.
if he come great, if he doesnt who cares. Taylor martinez will be our signal caller for the next 3 years( not including this year). Also Jamal Turner is in this recruiting class and ESPN has him ranked 48th overall, with Starling being rated 112th. This just looks like the Carl Crawford thing all over again. Not to mention Cody Green and Brion Carnes are already in Lincoln. We're stacked at QB. So he wont be missed, but will be good to have
@reidness41 No he is going to get drafted FIRST in the MLB draft, Nebraska can't offer him millions of dollars, he's as good as gone, yet another decommited blue chip quarterback to add to Nebraska's list
This guy needs to come to K-State, or go to a team where he won't sit behind a quarterback that's going to be so much better than him when he comes in that he will have to wait till that one graduates.
@jdhaist13 I agree but not to K-State. He needs to go to Iowa or Auburn because both of their starting quarterbacks are Seniors and those to school's could use a good quarterback. He reminds me of Auburn quarterback Cam Newton because of his quickness and speed and his passing ability.
to be honest i like bubba sterling.. but Turner would be a better fit.. i know one of them is bound to de comitt but it would be bubba im sure.. but he is nice tho maybe at like boise state..
@ttjello Did u see any of the other games? bc tmart is good, give him a break he is a rshirt freshmen. Lets run down some numbers 1046 passing yards 8td's and 870 rushing yards with 12 td's. for a freshmen qb i say thats quite good half the season. So um who is the dumbass. Your most likely a fan boy of some team that has taken a lose to neb or a lose to some shit team. Dont attack me with out some thing to back it up. Go hide in your basement in the dark and eat cheto's naked ina beanbag chair
@Boss111094 Claflin High School. We are an 8 man team now, but when he played we were in our last year of 11 man. Claflin isnt even gonna exist next year, combining with another school close by, Quivira Heights. He didnt get to much notice bc Claflin has always been a smashmouth running team, he only threw the ball about 30 times all year.
@Boss111094 also my high school had a quarterback a few years ago who was 6'5 and weighed 200, could throw the ball 60 yards in the air easily and pretty accurately, and had more speed and elusivenes then Starling shows...Yet he got no big time college offers...the pitfall of playing in a 1-A school i guess..
@Boss111094 well i didnt mean big as in his size, i meant big as in talent wise and national recognition....Idk just watching this video he looks slow when he runs and when he throws his arm looks a little weak, and he doesnt do anything spectacular, but he does have the frame and height...i saw him play basketball once and he was spectacular at that, maybe a basketball scholarship would be better?
Firstly what boards are you reading? Stop spreading misinformation. Bubba chose Nebraska for baseball, which in countless interviews he stated that's his first love. Who even says he'll even go to college if he's project as 1st round MLB draft pick.
and texas has won ONE in 40 years and now they're all of a sudden great? sure nu's been down for years but so has EVERY legendary football program at one point or another. oklahoma was down in the 90s. where was texas until 99 or so? they were a joke so i have no idea what your point is. AND ALL that talent yet only one championship this decade to show for it?
@travis2x Exactly, bro. Texas has one great year in the last 40. That rankes up there with Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Colorado, Georgia and Pittsburgh. LOL!
Hell yeah Bubba, welcome to Nebraska!!! It should be an awesome competition between you and Jamal, I'm looking forward to seeing you guys compete for the next few years.
The second toughest conference was the Big 12. Nebraska bitched out because the know with Stoops and Brown at the helm they wouldn't have a shot at the NC title. So they decided join a weaker conference so they have a better shot. Trick ass move! The only upgrade was money from BTN.
and you would feel the same way moron if your team was gettin bullied by texas. all the conference did was favor that one team. its easy for texas fans to say when they are the ones getting favored. and dont act like texas is so innocent here in the moving process. they were looking at the weak pac10 but then they realized they wouldn't dominate the market as easy so they stayed. now they own the conference and they can have fun with that.
of course anybody would when the commissioner of the BIG TWELVE wants to favor texas in every way possible. put the conference championship game in dallas every year. any way possible texas was favored. they didnt even care how nebraska felt. which would bug any fan RETARD. you obviously dont know what your talking about. state something RELEVANT and this would be a decent conversation.
@StoicBehavioR You couldn't be more wrong if your ass crack went sideways. Look at what Pelini did in only his 3rd year at Nebraska after taking over the mess Calahan left. He beat Stoops and for the Big 12 title a call that turns out wasn't supposed to be reviewed kept him from beating Brown. Looks like to me he has a pretty good shot at a NC. Here's the best part...Nebraska just doubled their money by going to a conference that is better top to bottom and not top to 2/3rds down.
You must be delusional to think the Big 10 is better. 01, 04, 05, 07,08, and 09 the Big Ten has been rocked in the Rose Bowl. That's six straight visits lost to a PAC 10 or Big 12 team. Not to mention their embarrassing loses in the NC title game in 06 & 07. Big Ten has been a two horse race PSU and tOSU with Iowa trying to be a contender. The rest of the Big 10 is a joke..
@StoicBehavioR You must be stupid. I said the Big 10 is better top to bottom. You want to talk about the Big 10 in Rose Bowl visits? LMAO! Let's talk about Oklahoma bowl visits alone! Especially in the last 6-7 years. I'm sorry, did Texas win their bowl game last year? I forgot. Iowa's trying to be a contender? I see they finished in the top 10 last season. Oh, Wisconsin finished 16th. WOW! That's 4 Big 10 teams in the top 16 and only 2 Big 12 teams.
The Big 12 has 2 NC title in the past 9 years to the Big Ten gift wrapped one giving to tOSU in 02. Yes, it was a blown call in tOSU's favor. Secondly Wisconsin was 1-3 against quality(ranked) opponents last year. Not everybody has the luxury to play powerhouses like Wofford, Northern Ill., Indiana, and Purdue.
it doesnt matter what conference has been better in the past 9 years according to you because you said the past doesnt matter in your previous post. if you wanna talk about the past NU has 5 titles texas has 4 (and one of them was when they voted for the championship before the bowl game, which texas lost by the way and didnt deserve it) and texas wasnt ANYTHING until 1999.
"you said the past doesnt matter in your previous post."
Please point out where I stated the past doesn't matter. You won't, so stop trying to put words in my mouth. If the past doesn't matter to you and if you want to go by the "what have you done for me lately." You'll lose that arguement on the account Nebraksa hasn't done nothing..
because you ignored the revelance that over the past 50 years the team with the most wins is nebraska. also 5 national championships to go with that. nebraska is clearly not a joke. we've been down for a bit. that happens to EVERY single college football program at some point. so hit us while we're down. but we are clearly a prestigious football program and always will be. our fans are some of the best in the country. our football team has been one of the more successful.
.....Wish he'd gone to nebraska smh. Boy is a sure-fire future first rounder with some pro-style teaching and just overall polishing he's got all the tools. Big, fast, elusive, rocket for a right arm.....smh freak of nature

"if Dano was a couple inches taller"
Well to quote the famous Dandy Don, "If, ifs, and buts were candy and nuts, we all would have a Merry Christmas."
The fact of the matter is, Dano is not a couple inches taller, he is 5'10 while Brees is 6'0, 210lbs; played Texas 5A football, not DII like Dano.
As for Flutie he is an exception to the rule; and still never even won a playoff game.

But if he does come to Nebraska, he's already been told he won't redshirt. I'm not sure he stays at QB either. If he puts on 10-20 pounds, he could be a freakish TE in the Vernon Davis mold. Or stay at the same weight and become a big WR with great speed.

TheMan16111 1 year ago
@TheMan16111 So you've seen Taylor play WR? No..he would not be better at WR.
diehardhusker10 1 year ago
@diehardhusker10 No, its just he is very fast, and elusive, so he would be hard to cover, or maybe a corner is where he could play, but I think he could have good hands.
TheMan16111 1 year ago
@TheMan16111 If anything safety, but not for NU. At WR he would be predictable, as nothing but a deep threat, because I highly doubt he can run a decent route.
diehardhusker10 1 year ago
@diehardhusker10 With training he could but that was what he was recurited at a saftey so he might go back because we have a dual threat coming out of texas, jamal turner who signed, and cody green probably will pay next year because taylor is not that amazing trying to play hurt, so I dont know who will play I think it will Green, because starling could redshirt, and I think turner probably will

@mistaspot1 every STATE puts out great quarterbacks, im just saying everyone from Texas talks about how all their players are so much better but the fact is the average player from Texas is basically the same as the average player from Kansas or any other state its just because of the size of the state like you said that that they put out more top prospects
GetGraped69 1 year ago
@GetGraped69 You are correct to an extent. Fact is, texas has a larger population of black people. And lets be honest, Kansas and nebraska doesnt have a large of a black population. Only in large cities will you find black people. So in terms of white players who are good, yes texas doesnt have superior talent by virtue because its texas-just because they have a larger population (common sense). But texas and all of SEC country does have more black people=more athletes who are quick...
walleye2416 1 year ago
If your a gunslinger in college chances are high you won't win a national title but being a gunslinger will take you to the next level and you will be well prepared. I think starling will have a good college career but nothing really special look for him to be a way better pro.
TheDue2820021 1 year ago
he looks like he'd be a REALLY good dual threat qb he's prob going to play in the majors though:( also does anybody know the name of this song?
cokanesic 1 year ago
I love how everyone from Texas like @mistaspot1 think just because their from Texas all the High School athletes their are so much better than everywhere else especially at football. Bubba Starling would be an all state athlete whether he lives in Kansas or Texas and this game was against probly the worst team Gardner played all year that's why the tackling looks so bad. Get all your high and mighty Texas bullshit outta here.
GetGraped69 1 year ago
@GetGraped69 Right because we don't have a tradition of putting out great quarterback prospects, right? Oh, a few come to mind: Darron Thomas, Ryan Mallett, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Christian Ponder, Greg McElroy... just to name a few.
Fact is, there's more competition here in high school football, because it's such a big state and it's so spread out so there are more high schools. Smaller states just don't have the level of competition we have. He's talented, but probably over-hyped.

@UpstairsClient He had an amazing season; it's just too bad he got injured. I figured that was bound to happen. The freshman in him really showed at times (both in play and on the sidelines), hopefully he grows....I just hope he doesn't go the way of Jammal Lord or Bobby Newcombe (when Bobby was the starting QB)...
kmcmanus 1 year ago
This is the wackest high school football I've ever seen. These kids suck. They wouldn't make it in Texas.
Why is it so hard for Nebraska to understand that the job of the quarterback is primarily to throw the ball. If he can run, too, then great. But if he's categorized as a "dual-threat" and only throws bombs (no bullets) that usually means he can't throw worth a shit.
Recruit a pocket passer, Nebraska, for the love of God.
mistaspot1 1 year ago
@mistaspot1 do you know anything about college football? seriously do you? or do you just open your mouth and dont know anything about what you're talking about. dual threat qbs in college football are far more successful than regular qbs. look at how many college teams have a duel threat qb and look at how they rank. a qb who can both run and throw in college football is much better off. you're an idiot kid.
babaganush00 1 year ago
@babaganush00 I think we in Texas know a little bit more about football than Nebraskans do. It's kind of a religion here. Like I said, if a quarterback is categorized as a dual threat and HE ONLY THROWS BOMBS NOT BULLETS then that usually means he can't throw worth a shit. You have to be able to throw bullets to make it in college or pro football.
Nebraska sucks at recruiting quarterbacks.
mistaspot1 1 year ago
@mistaspot1 One of the best college football quarterbacks of all time (Vince Young) was known for his running and really can't throw worth a shit. "HE ONLY THROWS BOMBS NOT BULLETS" just a laughable statement by anyone claiming to know about football. A good quarterback isn't determined based on his ability to throw really fast, short passes. A good QB should be able to read defenses and coverages, go through his progression, and make the right decision as well as have a strong, accurate arm
stomachslapper 1 year ago
@mistaspot1 The Longhorns have 4 National Titles. The Huskers have 5. I'd say Nebraska knows as much about football as Texas does......

TheHuskerpower10 1 year ago
@babaganush00 Again, take my word for it. We know quarterbacks in Texas. You need to have a strong arm and you need to be able to throw bullets. When you're running a 2 minute offense, you can't depend on long bombs and scrambles. How have to be able to gun it for quick first downs. I know Taylor Martinez can't throw for shit! That's my whole point! We kicked your asses this year. LOL!
mistaspot1 1 year ago
@mistaspot1 oh yeah im gonna take your word for it that makes so much sense. and you "need" to be able to throw bullets huh? just to pick out a few of the qbs you named. andrew luck, ryan mallett, greg mcelroy. what bowls did they go to? what bowl is cam newton in? how about tim tebow a few years back? both running qbs. 2 minute drills mean nothing in college football if you're already blowing the other team out. which is what running qbs do. and i bet more running qbs won the title than non

@StoicBehavioR LOL the big 12 is now a seond rate confrence Nebraska upgraded baby
tatertots00 1 year ago
@tatertots00
The second toughest conference was the Big 12. Nebraska bitched out because the know with Stoops and Brown at the helm they wouldn't have a shot at the NC title. So they decided join a weaker conference so they have a better shot. Trick ass move! The only upgrade was money from BTN.
StoicBehavioR 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR
and you would feel the same way moron if your team was gettin bullied by texas. all the conference did was favor that one team. its easy for texas fans to say when they are the ones getting favored. and dont act like texas is so innocent here in the moving process. they were looking at the weak pac10 but then they realized they wouldn't dominate the market as easy so they stayed. now they own the conference and they can have fun with that.

@travis2x
"and you would feel the same way moron if your team was gettin bullied by texas"
Thank you.. You just prove my point, Nebraska bitched up.
StoicBehavioR 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR
of course anybody would when the commissioner of the BIG TWELVE wants to favor texas in every way possible. put the conference championship game in dallas every year. any way possible texas was favored. they didnt even care how nebraska felt. which would bug any fan RETARD. you obviously dont know what your talking about. state something RELEVANT and this would be a decent conversation.
travis2x 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR You couldn't be more wrong if your ass crack went sideways. Look at what Pelini did in only his 3rd year at Nebraska after taking over the mess Calahan left. He beat Stoops and for the Big 12 title a call that turns out wasn't supposed to be reviewed kept him from beating Brown. Looks like to me he has a pretty good shot at a NC. Here's the best part...Nebraska just doubled their money by going to a conference that is better top to bottom and not top to 2/3rds down.
24Lancelot 1 year ago
@24Lancelot
StoicBehavioR 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR You must be stupid. I said the Big 10 is better top to bottom. You want to talk about the Big 10 in Rose Bowl visits? LMAO! Let's talk about Oklahoma bowl visits alone! Especially in the last 6-7 years. I'm sorry, did Texas win their bowl game last year? I forgot. Iowa's trying to be a contender? I see they finished in the top 10 last season. Oh, Wisconsin finished 16th. WOW! That's 4 Big 10 teams in the top 16 and only 2 Big 12 teams.
24Lancelot 1 year ago
@24Lancelot
StoicBehavioR 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR
once again what you say is IRRELEVANT.
it doesnt matter what conference has been better in the past 9 years according to you because you said the past doesnt matter in your previous post. if you wanna talk about the past NU has 5 titles texas has 4 (and one of them was when they voted for the championship before the bowl game, which texas lost by the way and didnt deserve it) and texas wasnt ANYTHING until 1999.
travis2x 1 year ago
@travis2x
StoicBehavioR 1 year ago
@StoicBehavioR
because you ignored the revelance that over the past 50 years the team with the most wins is nebraska. also 5 national championships to go with that. nebraska is clearly not a joke. we've been down for a bit. that happens to EVERY single college football program at some point. so hit us while we're down. but we are clearly a prestigious football program and always will be. our fans are some of the best in the country. our football team has been one of the more successful.
