  • very beautiful!!! proud to be pinoy yeah!!!

  • this is a very lovely dance, amazingly performed, even loved the folk music accompaniment both pandanggo sa ilaw and oasias i am proud of our culture...

  • These aforementioned Philippine folk dances are ethnic in nature and origin. On the other hand, there are several Philippine folk dances that were influenced by some Western countries as some of these had colonized Philippines in the past

  • WOW this is one of the best version of Pandanggo Oasioas ever! I really like the arrangement of the music. Good job guys! :))

  • Ahm im not a dancer but this video is good im a proud filipino...but are you aware of the myth that pandanggo sa ilaw was created to mask a filipino martial art? its way of parrying swords or glancing or rediirecting stick and punches...wla lang just wanted to share heheh

  • we danced this during our PE Night and won 1st place for Filipiniana category!!! woooh...

  • The original dance had no music. The late Col Antonino R. Buenaventura (National Artist for Music) composed the music that accompanies the dance.

  • I remember the song... It was sung by my mother...

  • The dancers are so graceful.

  • ahhhh.... havent seen ne actual folk dances in ages. we do have filipino gatherings, but it didnt really feel like it.

  • My favorite Filipino folk dance and your group did very well. I especiallly enjoy the music accompanying this dance. Mabuhay! = )

  • (PART 1)

Actually, these two dances shouldn't be danced as one or combined.the primary reason is the origin of these two dances are very far apart PANDANGO SA ILAW is from MINDORO(southwest of Luzon, and northeast of Palawan) and OASIOAS is from PANGASINAN(west central area of the island of Luzon)because of Bayanihan...they have distorted the cultural dances in expence of theatrical purpose.culture have their origins from communities who made their own culture for their distinction.

  • (PART 2)

...culture have their origins...it is for the community to have their own distinction.I hope groups like this would inform their audiences before they perform it.This dances is not to elevate your self but to recognize our own distinction to show the richness of the philippine culture.Bayanihan didn't made this dances but the natives of their own distinctive lands.thanks!! (^^,)

  • NikkiSavella, hey... it's not shameful to copy from bayanihan because it's the same o'l genre that bayanihan copied too from provinces.. It's really not a real thing to be ashamed of. besides.. all of them uses the same culture as of them.. Filipinos.

  • Now thinking on it.

I guess your right but It was just an opinon. ^_^

  • This should be real shameful because most of the "Dance Moves" were copied by Bayanihan.

  • First off, Likha's director Rudi Soriano is a former soloist from Bayanihan. Secondly Bayanihan does not own exclusive rights to those "Dance Moves" and if we followed your logic, then all Pilipino folk dance groups would be guilty of "copying dance moves" from the originating tribe/province.

  • I guess if you say so.

  • the instructor is Bayanihan FYI

  • The original Pandanggo sa Ilaw was discovered by dance researcher Francisca Aquino. It was actually danced with merely the clapping of hands proving the music. The melody we hear is actually an art music by Antonino Buenaventura-on of Mrs Aquino's team member and the one specifically recording the music for each discovered dance.

  • Filipino folk music sound almost Russian... try listening to a balalaika orchestra or the folk song Katyusha... sound like the Filipino music too.

  • That music is provided by the stringed ensemble- the rondalla. It was introduced by the Spaniards during the 333 years of Spanish occupation in the Philippine Islands.Sounds very European but the melody is Filipino made. The dance is, however, very typical Asian though named "pandanggo"

  • if you wacth that at the provinces, especially in ILOILO.. you'll be awed! DAGYAW dance troupe of Iloilo NHS did it very artistically!!

  • that looks amazing! And the candle on the head and forehead looks really difficult. Sure takes a lot of practice. But the final result is very beautiful to watch.

  • im going to do this next weekend for mass. this is scary

  • its a beautiful graceful dance...but try to dance that for competition its not that easy....we went through numerous glass's during practice and during the final nights it wasnt easy trying to balance that damn thing on your head without getting burned lol

  • heeyyy i was wondering if you could send me this video because i am doing a project for my class world music about music of the philippines. i would really appreciate it if you could send it.

  • hello dear can i ask you where can i download a music of this pandanggo sa ilaw pls send it to me as soon as posible. thanks

  • I'm so glad to be a Filipino myself. This kind of performance inspires me to want to master a dance to be able to share it with others.
