let me just say... i know those signature lars ulrich sticks are cool... but he should'nt be using them, because they are a killer on the cymbals and the heads, i used them for a little while and they did totally destroy my cymbals, and another thing is once you use those things, they destroy the warranty on the cymbals just sayin. overall though for 9 years old he is pretty good

I think it is counter productive to have a kit that large for someone of his skill level. I'm not saying he is bad. For a 9 year old he is pretty awesome, but I think all drummers should learn to use a 4 piece with a hi hat, ride n crash before moving up. Get him a teacher (if he doesn't have one already) and have him learn his rudiments, and practice to a metronome with correct technique and I think he could definitely be a good drummer.
