@MrDanielTynan A rope snapping under the tension that a good team can produce is capable of removing limbs. I've seen it first hand on the docks unfortunately :(
@Wiegieboard that's why there are rules in place for competitive tug of war. The rope has to be 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 110 ft long nobody will be able to put enough humans on a regulation rope to brake it.
Accidents happen when some dumb idiots use small ropes and put too many people on it. In the 50 year history of the International Tug of War Federation not one rope snapped.
Of all the sports I've tried, (includes the toughest, rugby n boxing) tug of war is the only one that I still feel the strains till now.... respect them....
i think that it is greatly underestimated. when people think of tug of war they think of simply pulling a rope. it is actually very difficult to get a whole team to do semi complex manouvres all in sync. the training is diffcult and it is generally extremely ard work. people should appreciate how hard this sport actually is!
how does overseas get so much interest.. TELL ME YOUR SECRET!! lol but no it's sad in Australia, there is only 7 teams, i'm only 17 and i don't want this sport to die out! :(
This is f*ing awesome! I have looked for Tug of War videos on Youtube forever, and this is the first really proffessional there is! I am Swedish, and it is very fun to see familiar faces in the video :P Really cool! This goes right to my favourites! Btw, they should have said somethisg about individual tug of war too! ;)
we did this when we were in school. our team always won cuz i was there. after your pull for a minute for some reason your stomach hurts. lol
