They were originally bred for size and power, it just turned out lucky that they were as mellow as they are. Generally speaking, of course. Individual exceptions apply as always.

Good advice, but I would only go to a breeder if I want a cat of a certain breed really, really, really bad. My cat was a siamese I bought, but I want my next cat to be adopted from an animal shelter or rescue facility. Too many cats and dogs need a home

It's a problem keeping them down. Probably too late to break them of it. I do a lot of counter cleaning! I also am careful not to prepare food directly on the counter, but use cutting boards or mats...

EVERYONE loves this cat, even people who don't like cats. He's amazing (reminds me of your Apollo) and I can't believe he was at a shelter for any length of time. He's also so pretty, which is mainly what attracted me to him. I love the breed :)
He is so lucky to find a loving home. Maybe he had run away and gotten lost which unfortunately sometimes happens. No matter how he got there, what matters is he has a loving home!! Congratulations!
As long as you can afford to take good care of them, you can buy one Maine Coon and take a kitty from your local shelter, so that neither of them feels lonely. I think having two or more cats is definitely the way to go if you're not home all the time.
Okay, I know this is 5 months late, but perhaps [avoiding the obvious pun] there might be a Maine Coon Cat rescue society in Spain? Here in the states there are a number of them, and through them you can find a great Gentle Giant of your own at a fraction of the cost!
They really are great cats. I fell down the other day and Apollo came over to me very upset and let me rest my head on his body like a pillow until I was able to get up! He is amazing.
In this video, I turned on the water, but they do know how to turn it on themselves. Funny guys! I just took them to the vet and in the carrier together they weighed 50 pounds!! Amazing, beautiful animals!

I have a maine coon and he is 100 times more interesting then your two cats, you have too many boring videos, stop making them or at least keep Ella out of it.
Why do you feel compelled to write such a nasty comment? This lady loves her MC and her grand daughter Ella and probably has a more fulfilling life than you. If you can't be nice, than don't be ANYTHING! I love the videos by okathyol and by the looks of the counters, so do thousands of others!!!

My mom has a little main coon mix that used to walk around the edge of the rubberpool, one day she fell in and just swam to the ladder all calm and cool. Thats when I knew that this is an awesome cat! They also have such personalites, like little humans.
Maine coons look like so much fun. I hope to have one of my own some day.

I've got a cat and she's def at least 1/2 Maine Coon. She does the chatter but she's short hair and she's a little smaller. She does like water tho.

If your MCs like drinking from an open faucet,
it will be a challenge to keep them on the floor, instead of the kitchen counter, to drink from a bowl. Jasper likes the running water.
