  • where r u crabbing

  • @BUTTER2ET Port A

  • how long of a boat ride is it to that wall

  • @POCFISHING465 8- 10 minutes

  • call me stupid lol but i thought red fish are salt water species unless this is salt water lake or something

  • @robijas1mafia

Redfish can live in fresh water AKA Redfish farms nowt. So are Stripers but they also are stocked in fresh water lakes..

  • 7-8ft popping rod

  • Abu 5500-7000

  • what's a decent rod to use from shore? I have a 9" mh catfish rod but is that too beefy for Calaveras?

  • Just look at all my vids there is a how to video for Reds..

  • Hey, im going this weekend, would you please share where are the best spots for reds and cats? and also what bait is good for reds and cats? Thanks

  • i was just there all spring break! at that same spot i got a 15 lb 28 in red!! and we caught 3 blue catfish at once it was amazing all three poles went down at once

  • Is the crappie wall the only place ya'll can catch um?

  • @FishhooksAdventures

No I catch them all over just video'd there. I wouldnt call the 20-25 inches you catch this time of year a real redfish so dont go till late April or May..

  • @FishhooksAdventures Well I was going to offer some other places to catch them but if you think all I catch is 20-25 inch fish I will keep the spots to my self

  • @FishhooksAdventures

Thats cool can tell from the videos were you are.I was just saying the Reds dont seem to be as big this time of year at the lake and scattered at best . Are you currently catching reds 17-25 pounds this time of year would like to see that since most are still fishing for cats? If so might have to make a trip down I didnt mean anything by my post. March 4th I am going on a 60hr tuna trip on The Big E your welcome to jump aboard.

  • We use a slip cork and a product called "bobber stopper" Ask for it at Acedemy

  • 6inch live bull shad hooked thru the nose

  • what kind of bait were yall using??

  • nice catch man! but i need some help on the crappie wall, what kind of depth do yu use there? and whats with the ballons? i have seen people doing that..i just wanna catch fish i have a yak! any pionters?

  • great job managing to record during an earthquake! and nice fish...

  • Do you need a boat to get to this wall/area?

  • @coopsyd yes you need a boat or a yak.. Saw a dumb ass paddling a large Ice chest out there one time...

  • @Cowboytongue

damn.. that would be epic hahah

  • sounds like you need to tighten your drag and yea your right my dad and i had every rod about 4 or 5 go down all at the same time

  • cool, i live in san antonio and have never been there to fish, ive been to braunig tho, but i usaully fish at lake L.B.J and caynon

  • Im new to lake calaveras and i am only use to catching saltwater reds... What do these freshwater reds eat? what are the best baits for them? what is the best time of year? are there any real good spots to fish for them on the lake?

  • I would say July,Aug, Sept.. I like fishing a south wind with less than 1/4 moon and I fish live 6-8 inch shad. Lures are giant rattle traps big spoons gold/silver. You can catch Reds by the Damm and power lines..

  • I can't wait to move down to S.A.! So do these fish have sharp teeth? I thought the fish are a saltwater species? Is this a brackish lake?

  • they are saltwater fish

    But no teeth

  • oh and its just really dirty water

  • calavera lake near san antonio rite?

n if it is how red fish get der

  • @jjpear713

yeah south east of san antonio. n the reds came from fish farms. they build the dam decades ago and they added fish in the lake.

  • Nice vid man, was out there yesterday, Fishing was bad at the wall. Not much action....

Wind took ballons out over 300yards.

  • Nice vid. They are hitting like crazy now too. Catching them on the ridge. Caught 50 or more 2 weeks back on shrimp. I have 41 fish on video from the trip. Working on the vid now. Many tripples.

    Thanks for sharing

  • aye alright i might suck at fishing..but I do fish close to damn with craws, talapia, and the giant shad that breath up oxygen like A fatman.. I've been fishing there my whole life believe or not but I've actually hooked and caught a 25pound corvina not so lucky with redfish though...and i was not directing the daily bag toward you all i"m talking about the 2 guys that set up 16 poles and they don't even have a fishing license..sORRy....

  • Aug and Sept are the months for fishing for Reds at the dam.. Live bait only works must be suspended 10-15 ft.. Shad or Tilalipia..I have limited with 3 people at the dam too..

  • Bump a lure off the bottom on the beach in August....works

  • @Cowboytongue

Hey Cowboy, how do you "suspend" the bait? care to share = )D

  • Well it is 3 per person and there were 3 of us can you count? Maybe you should learn to throw a cast net and catch live 6-12inch bull shad and fish by the dam.. Go to the 3rd light out from where the water starts and you will catch a redfish fish it hooked thru the nose and 10ft under a cork and you can catch a Red..And I catch fish becuase I have fished the lake for 15 years I can also catch them from the bank. So maybe you just suck at fishing?

  • that's what U call the benefits of fishing on the wall...I've fished for 2 years on the bank during the spring and summer and never caught shit!

  • oh yeah! and another thing stop over fishin the phuckin lake...DON'T BE A FAG 3 IS THE DAILY BAG!

  • Live 6-12 inch bull shad..

  • what kind of bait you using

  • Awesome catch. I have a hard enough time gettin' one on.
