Big fan of the Jazzy instrumentation of some level music. I know they're orchestrating at least part of the game, I hope they get actual sax & bone players when neccessary.
I'm glad they actually kept some of the old music from the previous Mario Galaxy, yet, they're still making new tracks. I'm SO glad they finally added in theAir Platform Super Mario World theme. Hopefully it's not all .MIDI, though, as a musician myself, that's one thing I REALLY loved about the previous game, most of the main-level music had real orchestration in it..of course, some of them had orchestra mixed with MIDI sound effects, but that's alright. Still pretty awesome.
@mario54671 IGN said that the orchestral music isn't finished yet-- much of the MIDI music in this version is still acting as placeholder. But yes, the soundtrack in the original was absolutely amazing.
On an unrelated note, 1UP says the dragon's name is Gobblegut, and the robot is Mallettoid.
Oh nice, just like last time, when they had all the demos for Super Mario Galaxy, the Good Egg Galaxy theme wasn't orchestrated. I hope Koji Kondo composes more of the music, because I noticed that his music is much more original. The other guy, while creating an epic sounding soundtrack, seemed to just throw in a random melody that sounds good, however, it's not very original, and they sound like they've been taken from somewhere.
@mario54671 According to the official soundtrack, I found out that Koji Kondo alone composed only 7 songs in the game. 4 of them were original, (The 3 Comet Observatory themes and Good Egg Galaxy), but all the rest are remixes (like Sweet, Sweet Galaxy and Toy Time). He did help on the Rainbow Mario Theme, though. Mahito Yokota, who did the rest of the music, did some very fantastic pieces like Space Junk and Gusty Garden. So even if Kondo is does not go full-out, Yokota still does amazing work.
Yes, but if you're talking about JUST the new music that Kondo composed...he composed VERY little music. Just Comet Observatory and Good Egg Galaxy. Yokata's music was epic-sounding...but it wasn't "good"...it was epic sounding because he put melodies which sound like they're from somewhere else, and also, the fact that there's a real orchestra playing some of the music is also why it's "epic sounding". The only two I found good were Buoy Base and Gusty Garden.
Sadly I think since people have responded well to Yokata's music, they're probably going to retain him and maybe just get rid of Koji Kondo completely from this sequel...
Yes, delayed. If it was coming out before E3..well, the game would have gotten lots of bugs, and crappiness. If it was delayed, it would have amazing quality (like right now) and it would have won game of the year immediately. :)
