I would rather 5 but my computor cant run 4 and 5 so im settleing on this (Plus everyone sais 4 and 5 suck)

Its 9.99 on steam and i really want it.

but i heard alot of probelms about the starforce and everything and im not sure.

Ill admit that submarines are thrilling to game with, build models with, etc..... But with all seriousness on deck, people say that SH5 is bad., really now. Come on people.I wanted to see what the hype was about for the game SH3 and now I know to my opinion that SH3 is a load of garbage. something really bad happened to me today and it's one of the only things i hate about this game . I had done 39 patrols, sunk tonnage of 92.134. I was driving a VIIC / 41 with full extras. I was driving right otside Brest when I had to change some crew and stopped. Then a fucking Schnellbot came at full speed right in to me. i got destryed and sunk. MY WHOLE CAREER WERE LOST!! I couldn't retry the mission either. That career is gone. I played on it about 40-50 hours!!!

@remusnor hey that happened to me one time but i only had 15 patrols done, usually my save menu will have something i can pick up from so i did that and it put me back somewhat behind but nothing terrible,anyhow what happen to you was awful, anyone who has played this game knows that 39 missions is a lifetime!!

My only real criticism of this game is that it never lets you use your flak gun in bad weather, which makes no sense. If you're under attack, you should be able to defend yourself no matter how crappy the skies are.

the problem with the gun and bad weather is the motion of the sea. If you read literature about german uboats, you will read about that problem, that during bad weather, when the motion of the sea was very rough, the crew was unable to use the deck gun. the best solution was to dive, after all it's a submarine, not a destroyer...

For the price yes. I got it for about $5. I wouldn't pay full price for it. Ironically, the fact that encounters are random makes every mission the same - go out to a certain grid square, kill whatever's there, come home. There are no specific missions like raiding a port or chase a specific convoy. In a sense though, that makes it more realistic. Long drawn out wars are boring and repetitive in real life.

What's good for SH3 is a significant amount of mod that have completely transformed him than the basic version ... it is enough to note the GWX but if you want to play online to make even faster loading of the missions you can install instead of GWX3.0 ... My BIG MOD MEG1.0 and MEG2.0 together you will see have excellent graphics and sound effects!You can see all my 4 videos of presentations dei mod

what is the requirement of this game? Mmmm why the 9cm deck gun was never used? Most Silent Hunter 3 video use torpedo instead of the deck gun. Is there a limit number of torpedo and vayaging range?

the amout of torpedos is limited... on the VIIc Boat it's 14 torpedos if I remember correctly (didn't play for a long time), the 8.8cm deck gun (though it's the same caliber, it's no the famous german 8.8-artilery gun) is seldomly used because it's not too effective. It takes time to sink a ship with it and it's only adviseable if the ship is a single merchant and unarmed. Sometimes I use it to sink ships that are already struck by torpedos but wont sink

Yes it's 14, 4 in the fore tubes, 4 forward reserves, 1 stern tube with 1 reserve, 1 external forward reserve, and 1 external stern reserve. If you want the most 'pedos the IXD2 has 26.

the problem is that the original game only supports one screen resolution: 1024x768 - however, if you do a google-search on this issue, you'll find a tool with which you can change the screen resolution to the desired one... only round dials will get strechted on widescreen monitors, but besides that , everything will look high resoluted without stretching

i tried a couple of fixes but i think they were made for xp. im running vista 64bit. it would look so much better in high resolution. it is a good game with all the plotting and settting the dials and the dud torpedos. it really brings home the horrid evil tragedy of war

the blur is standart ingame - hold shift and press&hold "page up" to increase until it reaches it maximum and press&hold "page down" - while holding shift - to decrease it / turn it off...

you just use the tool for that? in the map mode is a tool (either it's a scale or a triangle symbol - didnt play the game for long) with that you can plot a course with multiple waypoints!

Try setting up your attack by coming slightly from the front, about 90 degress to your target's course. I know your problem, happens if the angle of the hit is too steep. Try for perpendicular (hope that's the right word) shots, those do work just fine. Don't attack from the target's rear or front, that makes your fish bounce.

yes it's the english channel... and you can get through it...just be defensive and don't attack anything...submerge as soon as you have visual to any kind of warship and sneak through...

I think the best attack plan if you had a pack of subs would be to have one fire first to get the escorts to chase it. Then the rest of the pack could finish off the unprotected convoy. What fun : )
