My mother suffered from depression. Thank you for this video. Mental Illness is a taboo subject within the black community. Just look at the few comments you received. Black women need to let go of this being a "Mule" for every damn body. A lot of us do not seek help because of this "Strong-Black-Woman" myth.

@NicoleH73: Thank you for your comment. Those who disagree with us usually are facing or have faced depression (either personally or a loved one). Denial is usually the first sign that depression is "real". Hopefully, the same individuals will overcome their denial and seek help. The Black community must get "real" about this illness. No one is immune - no one.

@DANTEG7414: I don't believe in the strong BW myth either; hence, the title of my video, "Depression and The Fictional Strong Black Woman." A BW isn't supposed to take care of her children alone. My children have a father; and he walked out and abandoned his responsibility. So, I will not agree with you that raising children is the sole responsibility of any woman, especially Black women. Your statement is total ish.
