  • While not the first Castlevania game I played, it was definitely the first one I beat.

I remember this being my first Gameboy Advance game and thinking how this tune sounded like "Pirate Music".

This game, despite its general simplicity, would continue to hold a place in my memory.

It was actually this game that I got into speedruns and handicaps, like playing Crossbow mode but not using subweapons, or Magician mode but without magic, or even thief mode without using items.

  • got an emulator for this since i could never find this game as a kid, (my friend had the double pack with aria and this on it and i only got to play a few minutes) but now i have been playing this AWESOME game non stop along with dissonance.

  • this ruins the point but put the game in a ds system and you can see alot more this saved my ass many a time

  • Awesome awesome game. Last time i played it was on an emulator and i left it on all night with him spinning his whip under the worms so i lvled up like 10 times. There's a combo with the cards later that ups your attack based on your game time so b/c of that i was at 99:99 so i can kill Drac with like 4 hits lmao

  • Man I used to just stand there, put the speaker on my GBA and listen to this.

  • ahh this game brings back memories

  • First game I got for the GBA, and I played it nonstop. Of all the games I own this is probably the one I pull out to replay the most.

  • I wish that there would be a remix of this song in the next game, this and Reincarnated Soul are my favorte themes from castlevania any thing.

  • I liked the DSS system. But i could never really figure out how to pull of half of them.

  • this song is a great>>

  • man this song always made me feel badass. like i was a hella badass vampire hunter. which i was. yeah. i remember pulling out the dss cards and creating a fire whip to kill theearth demon. good. fucking. times.

anyways the beginning of the song is epic as hell, in total castlevania fashion. the groovy bassline really gives the song that 90's cartoon funk that accentuates the epic lead. the song really hits its stride at about 1:06 bringing the song to an epic climax.

    i'm a huge COTM nerd.

  • this music suits great for an opening area ^^, and by most, the best castlevania music ever, with some of aria of sorrow in a close second

  • @burra007 It was one of the first game of the GBA and it was so great to have some quality music to make the jump from the old 8 bit GB to the new 32 bit GBA.

  • i love this game but i preffer the orginal style more than this adveture style of game

  • friggin great game! Underestimated and awesome MUSIC! DANG! long time ago I played this!

  • it's a really gdsong

  • I came upon hearing this.

  • The Gameboy Advance SP was actually frontlit, not backlit. From Gameboy Micro and onwards, they were backlit, which is better.

  • There was a revision of the GBA SP that had a back-lit screen. It is, in my opinion, the utimate incarnation of the Game Boy, as it is backwards compatible. Micro doesn't have that feature.

  • Ah yeah, there werent many in the UK, but yeah youre right. It pretty much is the best one, shame bout no headphone jack though..

  • @thecolorfox wish that model wasnt so hard to come by, i got the regular sp

  • it isn't just the lack of backlighting that made the game bad/hard on the eyes. the GBA's screen is inherently darker than the Gameboy Color's. If you put the same game in both systems, you will see the difference. However, there's a very small screw in the back of the GBA that can act as the brightness control, and messing with it can fix this problem. It voids your warranty, but it makes it so playing games like this isn't as difficult.

  • a gameboy advance SP is the best option, it has built in backlight, I can easily play the game in the dark and still see all the details.

Really the visual detail between GBA and GBA-SP is amazing.

  • The nintendo DS would probably be good too. thats what i play it on.

  • You can see everything well on a DS, but imo the colours always look so weird if you play GBA games on a DS.

  • I loved this game, but playing it hurt my eyes.

  • are you able describe how this game hurt your eyes?

  • Comment removed

  • The smallness of the screen, and the fact that it wasn't backlit.

  • ah i see now. and yeah the backgrounds are dim in this game

  • I bought the GBA right when it came out, and I've regretted it ever since because I didn't know that it wasn't backlit. The GBA SP is. I don't know why the first one wasn't. It's my own fault for not doing any research beforehand.

  • great song, image quality kinda sucks though

  • yeah i know, but i'm too lazy to redo it, and all that matters that you hear the muisc

  • true

  • Nice song!

  • i love this music. i love this game. :coeur:
