In my personal opinion I think New Vegas missed that dark and scary feeling Fallout 3 had, you never knew what was coming up, if you were going to find a Super Mutant Outpost or some Deathclaws. But New Vegas also inovated and fixed most of Fallout 3 flaws with iron sights, more quests, intuitive companion wheel for easier navigation, hardcore mode and (my favorite, probally) a lot of charaters and factions from the original Fallout games.

It was like Obsidian Entertainment just stole the engine and didn't add anything to it.

It was just Fallout 3 with a different story, which you'd think would be a good thing, but it just didn't feel like a good game to me. And clearly, to others as well.

Some say that it was closer to the story of Fallout 1 and 2, but I havn't played them so I couldn't care for the story.
