  • 91 persons couldn't learn the alphabet

  • Thanks this will really helped me i have to learn this for school :D

  • Are you supposed to bend your hand for P and Q so that the person sees it the way it is shown? Because that is really painful...

  • @Beeevaaa Good question. No, for p and q I just showed it the way you would see it. It should feel comfortable!

  • K my hand can't do M, it always looks bent

  • <3 i love how everyone is watching because of switched at birth. haha so am i! great vid.

  • Omg is everyone learning this for switched at birth hahaha.

  • Woow it's so easy i saved all the moves

  • emmit from swiched at birth is cpomeing to cypress bay high school so i decided to learn letters (:

  • Switched at birth got me interested in sign language

  • lol this is quite easy. i got it all down in under 3 min.

  • I'm learning this too for switched at birth!!!!! it's awesome!!

  • this is soo sweet im leArning this 4 switched at birth

  • Umm, is it meant to be in the way that it's shown? Is the person supposed to see the palm side of my hand? And when saying 'P' in sign language, do I always point right with my index finger & thumb as I point down with my ring finger?

  • Learned it!

  • It looks like 'P' is a horizontal 'K' (or 'K' is a vertical 'P'). What's the difference between the two?

  • @McSkouvy Yes, k and p are very similar. For k you point your fingers up and for p you point them down.

  • im only learing this beacause of switched at birth too! lol. (:

  • Switched at birth!!

  • who else thinks the "K" is hard???

  • @lucy1740 me too. This is cool now I'm learning to spell my name

  • Im Learned because of swithed at birth

  • I'm learning to talk to my friend

  • I'm learning bcuz my friend is def so I want to communicate with her

  • Learning because of switched at birth. Before the show I would have been too intimidated to talk to a deaf person. But now I realize that just because someone can't hear, doesn't mean I can't talk to them :) I wish learning asl was required in schools :P

  • i'm learning because of switched at birth too!!

  • learning this cause i love emmet from switch at birth? is that bad....

  • @issyyc thats my reasoning...

  • @issyyc

haha that was one of the reasons i started too but now i know a lot more and im even getting a sign language class at my school!

  • omg thank u i want 2 learn b/c i want 2 talk 2 deaf people and b/c when i want 2 have a deaf friend

  • i think learned it wohoooo! Thank you so much seriously!;)

  • aww this is cute

  • I'm only learning for switched at birth lol

  • A bit confused because I have seen it both ways: for "J" and "Z" should I make a backwards letter so that it is seen by the other person correctly? Thanks!

  • @BrunetteBBW Make it so that you are drawing it correctly... the person you are signing to would see the letter backwards.

  • this is so helpful , thank you !! :D

  • my cousins are deaf, and im learning this so i can talk to them :)

  • her voice is so...attractive..

  • learning the alphabet bc i have a hearing problem. my friends are also learning it so they can tell me wats going on :)

  • Thank you. :D Some friends of mine and I are learning together.

  • @m224601 Some things don't have signs and the words need to be spelled out. Also names of people are spelled out etc.

  • thank you so much trying to sign destorms keyboard song and needed to brush up on alphabet

  • @froob182 destorms keyboard song? I'm not sure what that is? But this song is an original My Smart Hands song :) I'm glad you like it!

  • i wanna learn it coz i watched switch @ birth

  • I already new sign language but um it's funny me and my friends do it across the class room

  • It's amazing. I'm 21 now and I learned the alphabet when I was 7/8 and still remember it for the most part. There were about 5 letters I had off but I'm wondering if there's more than 1 way to sign the alphabet...

  • This is the best alphabet sign language video I have come across. This video is so kid friendly as well. Great Job!!

  • thank you

  • Getting better at it ! Now i can do it eyes closed ! :)

  • Does it matter if you do it with the right or left hand? Because the letters would be facing opposite ways wouldn't they?

  • @TheAlexamary it doesn't matter, you should use your dominant hand (the one your write with) the letters still look the same even though they are opposite :)

  • @SmartHandsCA Also, how do you show that a letter has repeated? For instance if I wanted to finger spell the word call, I would do C-A-L-L, but how do I show that there were 2 L's?

  • @TheAlexamary you would just move your hands slightly to the right if you are right handed or slightly to the left if you are left handed. Don't bounce your hand, just shift it slightly.

  • @SmartHandsCA okay thanks for your reply. there is a new girl in my class and she's deaf so i'm learning the alphabet to better communicate with her.

  • this may seem like a silly question, but as a hearing person trying to learn from scratch...do these signs relate to the signer having their hand turned to themselves, or is it how the other person views them??? eg for 'w' is my palm to me, or outwards to the person i'm signing to?

  • @hindsy1410 great question! The palm (in most letters) should be facing the person you are signing to. Your hand should always feel comfortable. For example, the letter P, you thumb should be facing you and palm down.

  • I just spent the last 3 hours learining the alphabet

  • gnat is spelled with a G... but other than that, this is good!

  • @Gianna1Corinthians13 thanks. The video is singing NET not Gnat :)

  • ¡ME GUSTA!

  • damn the E sign is hard i cant do it how do u do ur thump like flat 0o.o0

  • im interested cuz switched at birth and my friends kind of bad with hearing so were teaching eachother

  • @SmartHandsCA When you do T and if you do it on the left hand, do you do it the same way? or the thumb over the pinky ? i love ur vids <33

  • @MSFish5867 thanks :) If you use your left hand you do it the same way, put your index finger over your thumb.

  • £wssee

  • I'm so proud of myself too

  • yeah!!!!! i can finally do it in sign language but i just need to learn to do it faster of the alphab3t

  • I forgot how to do q and f but now I know but it's like supposed to be a song and like the only thing with the letter x is xylophone so I was laughing I don't know why

  • awesome i am totally into this!!!

  • dam this is harder then i thought

  • BSL is much easier to do.

  • it seemed simple ..till i got to P

  • The letter P confuses me o.o

  • @Aaronc775 same lol love it

  • X is for xylophone only thang that did not ryme

  • @popppy360 I couldn't find an x word that rhymed. Any suggestions?

  • Hahaha, V is for Van, W is Water, and X is Xylophone.

van and xylophone really ryhme :)

  • @ICHScheerleader I couldn't find an x word that rhymed. Any suggestions?

  • @SmartHandsCA It sounds great the way it is. Thank you!

  • Now I know my abc's in sign lamguage (:

  • Haha i watch switched at birth!! And now i wanna learn!!

  • this song made it really easy to learn the sign langauge alphabet

    THANKS :)

  • Lol I'm only interested cause I watch switched at birth hahahah

  • @Aaronc7775 hahahahahah me too!

  • @Aaronc7775 that's why I am learning,but it's a lot easier for me than any other language

  • When signing the letter, should I use the right hand or the left? Because I'm right handed but some letters like G (for example) don't look correct when I use my right hand.

  • @TheMegonianShow if you are right handed then use your right hand. Just hold your hand in a comfortable position when making the letters.

  • i know it. everyone in my class is learning and signing in class

  • I did the hole thing in 5 min and merised it

  • Wow , that's way more difficult than BSL :') lad I'm British X

  • i have noticed that there are a few different ways to sign the alphabet, so would all deaf people be able to understand me?

  • @teambatrules All people who sign ASL (in North America).

  • I know a little sign language kind of :)

  • how do you do P

  • @roses4you143 For the letter P your palm should be facing you. I was just showing it this way so you could see how your thumb is positioned.

  • the x confuses me because i think its r...

  • @musicismylife101998 I know, it looks like the written letter r. Think of it as half of a cursive X :)

  • in the end isnt that lil girl freece?

  • @livelaughlove1797 Yes, that's her :) Fireese

  • @SmartHandsCA oh ok thanks :) that little girl is what got me into sign language :)

  • I need to watch and watch and watch. o_o

New kid at school's deaf, and she's nice, so I wanna learn to talk to her. ^^ We literally write notes to each other to talk. >.>

  • I now know how to sign my ABCs(:

  • i love this video!!! i learn so fast!!

  • P is difficult i dont know what fingers to use

  • i learned by this video :)

  • this is a really helpful video! thanks so much for posting.

quick question - when I do the signs (either for letters or actual words), are my hands supposed to face inward or outward? e.g. when I do the sign for "A", should my palm be facing me or should it be facing outward?

    thanks again!

  • @imasmartc00kie thanks :)

For the letter a your palm should be facing away from you but for letters h, and p your palm should be facing towards you. Your hand should feel comfortable when signing the letters.

  • is this American Sign Language

  • @HappyMeal213 yes :)

  • Ahhh! I started learning today & i got it! Thanks so much for this video! & the song is so catchy!

  • Singing to this song is so helpfull & catchy! Thank You!

  • This helped me so much! Thank you. Pretty voice too. :)

  • I'm having a hard time signing certain letters like G and P. Are you supposed to rotate our hand so the outer part shows? Or do you show the palm side like most of the other letters?

  • @Myzou77 Those letters should be palm facing you. I showed them the other way so you could see how to place your fingers.

  • I think it's funny; I'm a user of Dutch Sign Language (Nederlandse Gebarentaal), and I think it's rather funny that ASL uses a sign for "T" that resembles a very obsceen sign in NGT...

  • i love this! thank you for putting this up, i am very interested in the sign language after watching ' switched at birth' (:

  • Most flexible thumbs ever.

  • I just downloaded the demo for the Android! I'm excited to start using it!

  • This Is Really Hard To Do With Your Right Hand Because Then Your Learning It Like Backwords, Undersatnd What I Mean ? Sorta Kinda ?? Or Is It Just Me ? Haha Im Weird

  • WOOO I DID IT

  • I plan to learn sign language so I can talk to some death kids who can't conversate with many other kids <3

  • @NijiHoshiTsubasa erm death kkids?

  • @NijiHoshiTsubasa its deaf not death

  • I always have problems using M and N. Its confusing..

  • i am having a hard time with the p!~ T.T but i love this video~

  • @xiahnsaya1004 also me!! XD

  • Can u make an Android app please

  • @chocolatebrownAnne I did! There is one in the market and one in the Amazon store :)

  • awsome what made you want to learn sign langauge

  • @kathyizawwsm thanks :)

I took it as a second language in teachers college and fell in love with it!

  • I keep practicing for my students.

  • Hi my name is Karen, my question is..is there any smart hands in spanish version? thank you

  • @flakita572 I don't have this song in Spanish but I do have instructors in spain. I should work on making one!

  • I'm a hearing teenager and I wanted to learn sign language just because I can. I think it is the language that makes the biggest difference to know. And this is easy to learn, despite how much it's for kids. :)

  • cute ;D

  • I love love love this, but it's still too fast for me :]

  • This is accually how I learned sign language :)

  • Best way to learn the alphabet in sign language, this video

  • Ahaha, I thought it was ironic how D was for down, but you're basically pointing up!

  • awesome stuff....signing time is also really good, I know it's geared at babies and children but as a parent I've been learning just as much as my daughter from those videos-but the songs are soooooo annoying hahah

  • @SmartHandsCA Is there any difference to the British alphabet? Please help I couldn't find a British one.

  • @Jules14x Yes there is. You should be able to find one if you type in BSL alphabet (British Sign Language Alphabet)

  • Do you have more of these videos?

  • @Courtnney48 I just have the phonics one. i'll be working on more soon :)

  • i know the arbian ASL ABCs

and now i gonna lean the english

    so thank u

  • I know the asl is different, country to country but would a deaf person still understand what I was trying to "say" if I did the american version, to let say the british...

    Weird q I know... :p

  • @Cassandralovesmakeup there are different sign languages in different countries. In Britain they use BSL (British Sign Language) and it is different from ASL.

  • I am a complete klutz but I'll keep trying.

  • I love sign language! I have been trying to learn.

  • Why can't I do it fast like you ? How did it so smoothly xD...practicing...

  • I am 17 and deaf in one ear. Losing hearing in the other. I would like to learn sign language while I'm still able to hear but I am a little intimidated when I see others who can do it fluently and I barely know my ABCs...

  • I watched it three times and I already know the whole alphabet ! (: Thank You !

  • I am finding small differnces in signs from different books and videos online. This is making it hard to try and learn on my own. Any advice?

  • @ne014x Sign language is just like any other languages where you will find regional differences. Just think, if you are in one State you might order a 'pop' whereas in another you might order a 'soda' it depends on where you grew up how you would say it. It's the same with sign language. Most people will know the different versions of signs. :)

  • Way easier than British SL

  • i really want to become an interpreter so im starting now before i go to college wish me luck!

  • awsome video!

  • I've learnt it. So amazing. HOpe I remember ASL alphabet =))

  • im 11 and trying to learn asl.its really hard for me right now.

  • i'm an ASLL TRANS.

  • are the sign abc's the same in all english speaking languages, or in languages like german that have the little dots about some of their vowels?

  • @SparkleRoo good question. In ASL we use it in North America and use it with English where we don't have more than one of the same vowel (with dots etc). I don't know about other sign languages though?!

  • I came here to learn how to say I LOVE YOU :)

  • Sorry, slightly confused here - when I sign (to people) is my palm towards me or towards the people I am signing to?

  • @1kmUnderwater you sign with your palm facing other people. When you sign it should feel comfortable.

  • awww so cute

  • Whats the difference between Canadian and American sign language? I didn't realize there was one.. I am from Scotland and been wanting to learn ASL for a while. Came onto this and found all of these videos. They work.. I have also learned the British Sign Language and find them both as simple as each other. Thanks for the videos, help a lot!

  • @Terri2o1o It's the same except for we say ZED in Canada and they say ZEE in America. It's hard to find songs that use ZED so I wanted to make one for the Canadians who watch this video :)

  • thanks for this video..... love it so much

  • thanks for this video..... love it so much

  • me and my 7 year old are learning because their is a deaf child in his school and we want to talk to her. This song is a great start for both of us, Thank you.

  • i have really inflexible fingers..is there a way to solve this? :(

  • @greenappleiceblended lmao i know my thumb will just not bend like that

  • @greenappleiceblended i have the same problem :(

  • I see that I is the same than 1 right? so how can they tell the difference? that might sounds stupid but..

  • @cinderellaa06 it's context of how it is used. It's the same as there, their and they're, they all sound the same but it's how it is being used in a sentence that we know which one is being used.

  • thank you and cute song

  • i cant get the shape right. my hands are very inflexible...any tips? :(

  • Silly question...but the way it shows us on the video...with the palm facing towards us...is that how it should look from our POV, or the person we're communicating with's?

  • @Halo3ForumEurope the palm should be facing away from you. It should feel comfortable.

  • I watched it 3 times then got it. I want to communicate in class when my teacher says be quiet.

  • I love it because I learned the a
