@robbiefrancedotcom Hey man, what do you mean when you say drums should be tuned to the blue danube waltz? i know the piece, but i don't understand what you mean... cheers
Ok. Tune the floor tom to the lowest note which the drum can handle. NOTE...not THUD!
Remember that note. Hum the BD waltz. Starting at the floor tom... go UP the toms and tune each one to those 3 iconic notes which make the BD waltz...Simple.
i tracked you down because i always wondered why there was such a discrepancy between drumming on Skunk Anansie's first album (kickass and excellent) and all subsequent recordings which I personally judge to be no more than adequate and basic, why did you leave them?
@robbiefrancedotcom ahhh i see :) my way was so stupid i dont even remember how i thought it was that :P thanks for telling me really appreciate it, sorry for late reply :P
lesons can really be of an aid for some people but the thing you need the most is some will!
all my life people tried to get me down and no one in my familly really pushed me into music even if all of them where musician :O
but i love music so i did not wanted to let down so i kicked my butt and found a job for 6 month ive worked to get the cash to buy an electric drum at 15 years old its not been so long since then im only 16 now, anyway its never too late to begin go on well see!!
Amazing drummer! I remember seeing Robbie twice with Diamond Head, first at The Monsters Of Rock festival at Castle Donington in the summer of '83, and then on their headlining tour in early '84 at Liverpool uni. Great gigs, great band and great drummer! The ONLY band whose official fan club that i became a member of. Still got his (and the rest of the band's) autograph, somewhere. I was a fledgling drummer in those days. What a talent to steal a few ideas and inspiration from! Rock on... (:o)
just when you thought you were good at drums

@robbiefrancedotcom how do you get your toms to sound like that, what heads do you recommend
wadekobedog 1 year ago
Hi, mate!
Tune the floor tom with as little tension Then go up around the drums tuning them to The Blue Danube waltz
Check the Home Made Video out and notice the doughnut shaped dampener on the floor tom
You can muck around with some pseudo double bassdrum work and engineers will thank you tirelessly!Remo or Evans heads work for me
Good luck!
Love & Respect,
Robbie.

@ashthegreat
This is the reason he made this video!
like he said it will help you play the drums for 5 min or 5 years!
You these a real good trick to practice and the fun this is that you dont even need a drum to do it!
