my friend has a V5000 with all the same specs and everything, they look exactly alike. man i wish i could find as good of stuff at the dump as you. where i live ppl dont really care about computers... they live in the stone age... but thats the country for you...

Ohhh well in that case, I think HP was charging for the replacement ones for I think it was $250? If you do find ways to fix it update me and maybe I'll get an idea of how to fix the V6000 lying around.

Exactly what I was thinking, rather just buy a fresh out the box new laptop than to spend time and money on this broken one. I think I'll do what you did and strip out all the parts lol. Maybe buy a case for the hard drive and just carry it around as an external.

Compaq Presarios are defects. I got a Compaq Presario V6000 from my Sister-in-law from which she got from her co-worker because he couldn't find out what was wrong with it. After searching for solutions, I came across tons of complaints with the same problems in their V6000's which turned out that the problem was with the motherboard and HP had an extended warranty but it's too late for this laptop now.

5uk1m0n5t3r i had v6000 too. it didnt even last a year (i gamed heavy on it and the fact the thing couldnt cool correctly due to HPs screw up) but it was awesome while it lasted.

Yes, they are different but you could probably find a lot of interesting (?) data if you bought a SATA to USB adapter from NewEgg or even just swapped out your home comps. hard drive with that one. It's really fun seeing what people haven't deleted ;) Good video anyway

You can try to get an adapter, so you can plug de hd to your PC. They are inexpensive, take a look on ebay.
