go to START. go to RUN. type in services.msc. scroll down and find "Plug and Play" double click it and you should "start up type" turn it to "Automatic" apply ok. NEXT. go to SSDP Dicovery Services turn that to automatic like u did earlyer. next go to Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service turn that to automatic and the other steps as well. then it should let u pull that window up on windows media player not freezing up
I had the same problem, all you have to do is when you have the white box where its supposed to detect your xbox 360, your xbox has to be on and it has to be looking for a computer.
i had a problem like this but wen i turned off my firewall it worked, so i had to add windows media player and windows media player network sharing to your firewall exeption list and it should work then
i fixed the problem. if anyone else is having problems it will save alot of time just to download TVersity. all you have to do is turn on sharing and it pretty much instantly connects to your xbox.
Ok first go on ok when youve said ticked the sharing box then go on your xbox and go on the music bit and choose your pc then it will appear in the box and you have to accept the connection from the xbox to your pc,
what if your xbox doesnt pick up the pc sometimes but it comes up in media sharing. when i do get it connected the next time i urn on my xbox it wont connect. i know this is old but it would help alot if you knew how to fix it.
Just download vuze hun. It's one of the best apps made for the pc when it comes down to mediasharing. Do you need a tutorial check my channel i hope i helped!
LOL this one is classic!!! ok follow these steps control panel > administrative tool > services now look for window media player network sharing service.
now click on it and you gonna see right in the left side two options, do click on restart as in the video tutorial (you can find my video in your RESPONSES) if not i think you gotta do it step by step as the video tutorial shows you how to do it ...
hey man. i cant share music with my 360 it shows up in windows media player and i click share. but still 360 says pc not listed. i tried zune and tversity and neither worked... any soulutions?
Mine is direct 360 to PC with ethernet, and its doing the same as in the video. Neither the 360 or the PC can find eachother. It worked with another PC that had Vista, so WTF???
your rouder sucks it cant send fials to your xbox 360 you need a new rouder that can send fials to the xbox trust me i know i had the same rouder as you
still not true, it worked even with my netgear router, and my pc can find it , the problem is on my 360 , it shows up 5 mins later ,and when i try to connect with it , it doesn't work
r mayb turn off your firewall... go to control panel-security centre-windows firewall-off. hope it helps, if not... try dowloading tversity or zune... i think zune sucks cause it didn't work 4 me, could of worked for other people, i dunno.
HEY GUYS i know wats the problem the only reason why it wont show the 360 is because you need a xbox wireless adpater trust me i know becuase when i had the ethernet cord it didnt pop up but since a got the wireless adapter it pop up and now i can share
try to connect all to your router by ether. cable, and then you can switch the cable and connect to wi-fi again then you should br able to media sharing.
I have had this same problem forever. I have been to countless forums and done everything imaginable. Never can I get my PC Media Player to detect my XBOX360. The fact that Windows Media Player, Xbox 360 and Windows XP are all Microsoft media products and have such a hard time being able to connect to eachother is beyond my comprehension. You should be able to connect the xbox to your network and everthing should automaticaly work..this is so f'ing stupid. Let me know if you ever got this fixed.
I do not know anyone that could help you but you can call the xbox360 company and see if they can help you. Or go to their website and see if theres a support line available.
you too asshole! and i am god and you can stop playing cod4 because you will never be able to beat me at that game because im on my 15th prestige bitch!!!
all i did was turn my xbox off then back on

Go to START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL and then click on WINDOWS FIREWALL. Click on the EXCEPTIONS tab and then click on ADD PORT
You can name the ports anything you want I named them...
Universal Plug and Play - Port number 2869 (TCP)
Universal Plug and Play - Port Number 1900 (UDP)
Then restart windows media player and your xbox.
Bob's your uncle and it works!
If that doesn't fix the problem, add the same exceptions to your router and everything should work fine.

I added the ports and opened them but its still not working what else should i do
