@routhoula How does the PSVita "fail miserably" at backwards compatibility? It can play PSP games, some PS3 games and, soon, PSOne games. Hell, maybe they'll throw in PS2 emulation as well. I don't understand how a system capable of playing pretty much any game with a "Playstation" label on it can be called a miserable failure in backwards compatibility.

@SalientK it can play psp games alright, but you must pay to be able to play games that you already own, and thats not even from the UMD itself. you must download them in the memory card(which pricewise its Gbs are somewhat precious). for games that you already own Backwards Compatibility for the PSvita fails while 3DS will play every single DS game that you own. PS2 emulation is not backwards compatibility. emulators have nothing to do with backwards compatibility.

@routhoula Backwards compatibility *is* emulation. The 3DS has a DS emulator in it that allows it to play DS games. So to say that backwards compatibility has nothing to do with emulation is incorrect.

the L & R buttons and the D-pad on it are crap.Also the YXBA buttons on it are too small.Even the GBA had a better D-pad and buttons on it.Playing Street Fighter IV on the 3DS was a nightmare due to the crap D-pad and buttons on it.No wonder capcom included a "noob" mode in the game.

I love my 3ds. Although I can only play during my lunch at work. You know what else is compatible with it? Supercard DSTWO! Works on 3.0.0-6U firmware also. Play all your .nds roms on the 3ds for free! And no 3ds roms don't work... yet.

the SELECT - START - HOME buttons are horrible. the one i saw in the store was so worn out. this guys looks the same way. its like the buttons are THIN and the button behind is trying to poke through, i dont want one until they fix that.

@TheEgg185 thats not a valid reoson to not buy a 3ds, besides the placement of the stylus is something more to worry about. You get used to it. I hade mine when it first came out and none of the buttons are worn out.

@Rickeyuiop no, its a PERFECT reason. im not spending $150+ on shoddy merchandise thats gonna wear out early. maybe. i could tell when i saw it in the store that the "home" buttons weren't designed properly. i would wait until the next revision (3DS lite?) when they improve the buttons before buying one. and based on nintendo's history, there probably will be a new version that will come out.

Nintendo always tries new ways of playing games, i.e. wii, power glove. 3ds is also a powerful system you never did mention the downloadable games feature on the 3ds, I think that's a great feature (I know the DSi had it too). To me the 3d effect was never a gimmick, it is just another way to put a player deeper into the game. it was Nintendo's 2nd attempt at 3d mind you. And I applaud them for not abandoning the concept after a failed VR32

He said it looks sharper, but he forgot to hold down Start or Select so it would actually be sharper. He let it go to full screen mode, which does not look sharper at all. It's a stretched out blurry mess that makes games look terrible. It doesn't look that way through the camera, but when you see it for yourself on an actual 3DS, it's awful. :(

@jma10241 That's actually a fact.I experimented with me and 3 more subjects the side effects of this new console and it has a 67% of chance to get a headache after having the 3D effect after 1-1 1/2 no matter the game,and it was 3 out of 4 that got headaches all of them were between the ages of 17 and 19.So if you don't get headaches then you are OK but this technology must be perfected before it's final launch or this is what will happen.

@UnivingIshiro It doesn't hurt after about a week of use. It gives you headaches and eye strain because it works your eye muscles more. The more you use it, the stronger they get and the pain goes away and never comes back.

But get the 3DS anyway, there are great games coming like Paper Mario, Luigis Mansion 2, Super Smash Bros and there are already good games out like Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 7, OoT, StarFox 64 3D etc. Also online mode is fun. So yes, get one if you're interested in the games.

not sure where the poor battery rumors come from, my 3ds seems to last awhile before needing a charge..are people forgetting to charge it initially before turning it on for the first time?? that typically screws with battery life in general

Derp, actually the games don't look sharper, they look way fuzzier. When you blow up an image to 1.3x its original res, the pixels get fuzzy.

It's cool that they included an option to play the game at its true resolution though. Hold select when starting any DS game cartridge.
