  • This was just a terrible movie, watch my review of it.

  • read the book and it was so much better and had more detail than the movies

  • There was this movie I vaguely remember from the early 1990s that we watched in daycare.

    It was about tornadoes.

Some teenage girl was babysitting I think three kids while their parents were out at a dinner party and a tornado was on the way. The girl tried to call them, but the phone went dead and the parents were trying to get home, but couldn't. A tree branch was launched into the living room through the window and that's all I remember about it.

Does anyone know what movie that was?

  • thats the guy from Final Destination!

  • @scottziezz I live in md and i get the same thing as you. sometimes i find myself wishing that there will be a tornado.

  • Thats scary

  • this happened I was there. It was Grand Island Nebraska june 3 1980. My sister and I had gotten a call from our mom to head home to Hastings 30 miles south because they were talking about sever weather approaching GI. WE were at Mavis Bowling Alley. We had just got to Hastings City limits when it came over the radio that a tornado was on the ground and heading for the Yancy hotel. 3 tails were coming out of the cloud. then another one hit by fonner park whichis a horse track SCAREY NIGHT

  • the sound at 3:16 is soo creepy.

  • what does that thing me ( on Screen ) tornado warning.....friken idiots hahahah

  • Obviously done to intensify the affects and drama of the movie. Therefore I cannot comment emotionally on it. I would just hope in real life a baby would be taken care of more than that. Oh and wouldn't a tornado hit a lot quicker then that? That was the longest tornado ever!!

  • it always bothered me that once the sirens went off the first time and he got the baby that he put the baby back in his crib instead of keeping him downstairs with him.

  • BTW who does NOT know what that means when your TV is just blank with a blue screen and it says:

    WEATHER WARNING: TORNADO ALERT

    I mean really -_-

  • If I saw that twister outside that bedroom window, I'd scream like heck, grab the dang baby, and run. Run like the wind

  • i live in grand island nebraska and im reading this book for L.A class :)

  • OMG this is fucking awesome

  • Grand Island sucks. Its completely over ran by illegal stinky fuckin mexicans.

  • This movie is so terrible, but I just love it.

  • Oh man I used to love this film XD Now, does anyone remember a film from the '90s or earlier that used to be on TV, where this guy's van (was he a scientist?) gets sucked up into the tornado and a kid is hanging onto his hand and his shoe gets lost or something? I think his mom worked in a restaurant too or something? It sounds like a crappy movie now, but I always wanted to see the full thing since I was five XD

  • @isearchforfullmoons Was it Eerie Indiana?

    watch?v=aIWWotre9CQ

  • @quantumflux432 OMG Yes that's it!! Thank you so much!!!

  • @isearchforfullmoons Your welcome :)

  • im reADIN the book now and its great hope the movie isnt a disappoint

  • @Tails513 Well, this movie is really stupid because it has something to do with an uncle or some crap....Im reading the book too..

  • I miss this movie. Almost reminds me of the film "Twister" think about it. They both came out in 1996. Huh?

  • oh this is just painful to watch...i`m sure it was a good movie but I found myself facepalming the whole scene. It doesn`t matter if the sirens stop, it`s not like the power can go out during a tornado...or that maybe they knocked out the sirens.

  • My fav movie of all time :D

  • I've read this book 25 times ;)

  • Opening the windows will make it easier for the tornado to flip over your house and tear it up

  • Is it true that you're supposed to open the windows to stabilize the pressure?

  • @roosevelthighschool

Most scientists agree that opening windows has no effect on stabilizing the air pressure inside the house. Some even joke that if you wait long enough, the tornado will open the windows for you with the wind and debris.

The current thinking on this is that opening the windows during a Tornado Warning is a waste of time, precious time that could be used in getting to the basement or storm shelter even quicker.

  • A Whelen Vortex siren. Nice. Also nice movie. I have this movie.

  • aaaah! twister!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • does the book have the same characters and setting?

  • @SuperSuperMarioMan

most of the same characters but the setting has been changed as well as the actual time from when this happened

  • Comment removed

  • This movie gave me the fear of tornados.

  • Moron, the sirens keep going on and off probably because the storm is messing with the equiptmen

  • just becayuse the sirens turn off does not mean the danger is gone

  • dude take cover thats called the silence usually means that the tornado is right there because

  • i like this movie ...its a great movie

  • i watched this in science today it was good

  • is this movie taking place in oklahoma?

  • @alvin495

    no, nebraska

  • Wow they are sure taking their time, considering the house is being pulled apart :-|

  • lincolnweather, check your facts the tornadoes happend in south dakota in june of 2003 67 touched down on the 24th. this is why the movie was made.

  • why jus one scene where can i find this movie part by part on here?

  • I just uploaded the movie on my user :)

  • This movie is one of my favorite movies!!!!! Love Tornadoes!!!!!!!!

  • @JenniferMarie1990

I love tornados too! do you watch the storm charser guys with the TIV?

  • Good thing John Schneiders got the General Lee parked out back so they can all escape.................duuuuuh.

  • The move would be better if It took place in Grand Island like were the tornadoes happind and in the spring but atleast the move takes place in Nebraska.

  • good movie

  • this movie is so cheesy, but i love it!

  • Why are they opening all the windows?

  • They don't want the high pressure to blow out the windows

  • and instead it will blow up their house...veery smart idea...

  • They dont know if the tornado will be a direct hit, but pressure from the nearby high winds and the closed windows could blow out the glass, creating an additional dangerous situation. It is a VERY smart idea.

  • This happened back in the 1980's when they used to recommend doing that before a Tornado hits.

Now its been proven to be a stupid idea. You might as well shoot an RPG at your house.

  • As usual, California filmmakers make all natural disasters look like earthquakes. They did the same thing to Aunt Meg's house in "Twister."

  • I love this movie so much i love watching it on stormy nights i watched about a million times and i love it i have it on dvd and im gonna watch it today thanks for posting!

  • What's the whole deal with opening a window during a tornado anyways? Thank You.

  • It was once thought that tornadoes caused damage by the rapidly decrease in air pressure as they approached. The low air pressure outside was thought to cause the air pressure in a building to push against the walls, thereby causing the house to "explode". Later, it would be discovered that damage from a funnel came from other funnels within.

Also, air pressure escapes through nooks and crannies in a building that causes pressure to equalize. More deaths were caused by people opening windows.

  • There was a theory back in the day where they believed if you opened all the windows in your home that it was suppose to let all the pressure out of the house before a tornado hits thus not as much damage.

Now if you do open your windows before a Tornado it makes things much worst.

  • I liked the movie better than the book sorry to say. Thank You.

  • the book was amazing and the movie was just as great.

  • when i was younger i thought the movie was pretty good. I look at it now and I can see how it was made, and why it used to scare me LOL

  • ugh i love devon so much haha

  • any one know where i can watch the full movie of this. i love this movie bad time and i jus thought if anyone knew where i could watch it online.

  • I uploaded the movie :)

  • Devon Sawa... Yum :)

i remember having the biggest crush on him.

  • I've seen this movie like 1,000 times and I still love it!

  • EPIC!

  • The book is great. It's called Night of the Twisters.

  • we watched thid im school and ppl were laughing!

  • Thanks I love this movie.

  • I uploaed it :)

  • How do you watch the whole movie on youtube

  • Love this movie =)

  • im almost done with the book in class

  • Imwatching this in school tomorrow

  • i live in columbus ga ive been through 3 tornados in the past 3 years i never get scared i sit down in the hallway with my dogs and bird and hold them very tight

  • They wouldn't have had that much time to take cover. Tornadoes usually move as fast as 35+ mph. But then again this is a movie.

  • Some move that fast, and some take their sweet-ass time to move.

  • wow 6:42 how did that happen that thing went flying

  • i saw this movie at school and read the book

  • the book is cool 2

  • The tornadoes were moving at 8 mph, and with them being hundreds of yards in width, it is possible. Additionally, with many of the tornadoes...they didn't take 1 straight path and keep going, they would go over an area, and reform and go over the same path over...and over.

Would have been a horrifying night in Grand Island.

  • I wouldn't put the baby back in his crib! I would keep the baby with me because I'd be too scared to leave him alone because the sirens were just blaring and it could happen any minute. Actually, before a tornado starts its usually dead silent.

  • @peanut26w ya man

  • My mom recorded this and I still love this movie.

  • you could tell that the baby isn't real when he gets out of the bedroom and slams against the wall

  • If that was after the DTV Transition that 'Tornado Warning' on the TV(in the middle of a twister) wouldn't happen lol

I loved this movie. not too bad for as old as it is.

  • the book is good

  • the book is so awesome im reading it for a class in weather for college

  • i luv this movie its the best!

  • I haven't seen this film in ages!

I still have the VHS but it is very old and worn :(

Hopefully they have on DVD here (UK)

  • I saw this movie last year in 6th grade

  • you don't open your damn windows if a tornado is coming. that's such a myth. that house would have been torn to shreds.

  • in a movie....anything is possible lol

  • We watched this today in school because the 8th graders had to take Science FCATS. I hat to watch the beginning 2/3rds twice, and we never finished it. I wonder what happened...

  • it's been 12 years or so, but i remember it ending with a car chase against the final twister

  • Oooo! I love this movie!!!

  • when it gets to 3:45 the tornado is so fake otherwise the movie is ok.

  • is this the whole movie was there a movie that was this?..

  • Yeah theres a full movie my english class is reading the book its true 7 tornadosin 3 hours

  • yea there is more..but the book is so so much better. its actually inspired by a true story from the actual author herself. its an awsome book..i read it like 4 times when i was younger. and id prolly read it again if i could find it lol

  • i had a dream like that once.

  • The part at 3:45 I always got scared of when I was a little kid. LOL

  • love this movie i found it at walmart for 5 dollars awesome.

  • Stupid dunderhead should have gotten the baby even after the first siren ended.

  • hahah theres a turd in the toilet at 2:11

  • Nope.

  • umm... its clearly there look at the floating thing its brown.

  • Thats a hole for the water to flush through. Its not a turd. Its not all turdy like lol

  • lol omg ur right.... i thought it was a floater all these years.

  • I never watched the movie but i'm reading the book almost done too its pretty cool

  • I commented to you before I read this entry and see you read the book. I saw the movie before reading the book and I see the movie is pretty much going by the book.

  • lololol this is a good movie, i finished it today in school. im in 5th grade

  • holy shit

  • its to dark

  • omg Devon is so hot XD

  • I remember watching this all the time. I thought Devon was so cute.

  • Holy shit that fridge was flyin..

  • i seen this movie in 4th grade

  • god i love this movie

  • do you happen to have the whole movie?!

I love this movie but I can't find it anywhere!! if I give you my e-mail address could you send it to me?

  • i love this movie!

  • Yea, like opening a window and unplugging appliances are going to save the house from being ripped apart. It's a real-life thing, not MGM studios.

  • They were doing that so if lightning hit the house everything would be ok.

  • jayson lyons?

  • I am going to have nightmare,

  • Comment should be upvoted for being the only smart comment on YouTube.

  • if arthur was my friend, i would've punched him and told him to shut up. he's annoying!

  • i remember watching this in 5th grade, i used to be incredibly afraid of thunderstorms and twisters, so i didn't watch it. well i watched the first 35 minutes then i got to color outside of the classroom :)

  • I saw that movie last year. It wuz tight!

  • When I first saw this movie,I started shaking myself!!!

  • that baby was the model for jimmy neutron

  • what year is this

and is a a siren call

  • its 1996

  • I am watching this movie tommorrow at sckewl...

    IT LOOKS FREAKY!!

  • omg twisters freek meh out i hate them! idk y im watchin this!

  • y did they open the windows,do they have a brain??????

  • they opened the windows because the tornado loves open spaces, air goes in, it wants out, thats how it destroys.

  • its been proved that opening the windows doesn't do anything.

  • no they opened them b/c then it reduces pressure so the windows dont break as easy

  • but it lets more debris in and weakens turn the it into a wind tunnel kinda like how people shouldnt get under bridges because the wind is forced underneath the bridge increasing wind speed.

  • A tornado does damage with it's winds and any debris they may carry, not with pressure. The greatest pressure drop recorded for a tornado was 100 millibars the pressur difference wou probably not cause any damage. The tornado itself was in an F4 and just about any house it hit's would be mostly goe regardless of wheter the windows are open.

  • dude im right shut up

  • opening da windows duz nthn. day thot da pressure wuld make da house explode, but wat rlly duz da damage is da violent winds of the vortex. so its nt da pressure......so KEEP DA WINDOWS CLOSED AND STAY SAFE!

  • IN FUCKING ENGLISH PLEASE.

  • @KWEKOSHKUKI12 FUCKING ENGLISH PLZ.

  • opening ur windows does nothing, leave them the fuck alone and get ur ass in a closet and pay the fuckin insurence after you chill ur nerves out BETTER??? lol

  • @KWEKOSHKUKI12 now removing the fucking cursing

  • @Cyberdued

opening ur windows does nothing, leave them alone and get in a closet and pay theinsurence after you chill ur nerves out BETTER??? lol

  • they open the windows b/c in the time this story was set, people thought that the differences in pressures of the house and the tornado made the house explode, and that's why a house always looked the way it did after a tornado hit. however, today we know that it's the winds that do the damage and that a normal house has enough airflow to equalize the pressures in the house and tornado so that there's not an explosion.

  • You provided a better explanation than I did to another person asking the same question.

  • i love tis movie

  • ive seen this movie before but last year they had twister the movie and now its not on there dies any1 know of wat happen or did it get deleted
