  • I love seeing artist show their work on youtube , 'i have'nt learned a godamned thing' that is the theme for life.

    I love your work.

  • The title was wonderfully ironic, reminds me of a Bukowski scene.

  • The last line knocks me out--I really didn't see it coming... "with your mouthguard in" is dynamite!

  • @twohawksfucking Thank you Mr. Bentley. That means a lot coming from you! :)

  • Thought this one was a real winner. lots of great lines. Made me laugh. Once you accept that love is like being thrown in a cement mixer everything becomes clear. LOL!

  • 'cupids crash test dummy'....we love that.

  • You might be right, but then again, I'm not sure. I kind of remember a light fixture that had a green shade the bulb stuck through. A voice kept saying you were great out there tonight. You nailed him good with your right, but it was that left that hook took him out. I thought it was the coach, but he didn't use cologne. He was a Mennen's Skin Bracer type. The deep tongue kiss by-passed my mouth piece as I wondered if I was so great. Why are they carrying me to the locker room?

  • wow! it even can turn someone asthmatic!

  • I like your poem.

It tells me you made choices, some were bad choices, you knew that but did it anyway.

    You have no regrets.

You have not learned from your mistakes, you fully intend to make similar choices.

    You do not blame others.

    Life's a ride.

  • @myastroflight Thanks very much--I liked your comment! :)

  • insanity in a dress, wow, fucking beautiful

  • As always...an extreme pleasure to listen...

  • LOL. You've still got it. And you're probably still getting it! :P

  • your usual greatness my friend. thank you for sharing it.

  • you never learn. You never learn (:

  • Well...all I can say is ...sad for you...women painting their left hook ? Turn to men. You might get a right hook ?

  • Nice! I love the imagery.

Also, it's been a while since I've seen your videos :)

  • Busy busy three weeks ago. I guess that's how I missed this. I see what you mean about this being a "hopeful poem." I don't see fatalism or too much cynicism in your poetry. There always seems to be a glimmer of hope.

I enjoyed this. Especially this: "Cupid's Crash Test Dummy." Excellent work, as always, David.

    I enjoyed this.

  • I don't ever remember correcting you before, David, but you couldn't be more wrong. I don't remember the team we were playing, but I had gotten lucky and scored a touchdown and we won. I rushed into the locker room to take a pee not even taking the time to remove my mouth piece. The coach came in the stall, closed the door behind him, and holding me just right kissed me several times.

  • I'd take a wild guess in that I'm pretty sure you desserved it, you Godless Hedon God, you. Stop regretting your walk of life. You either choose peace or pleasure. A slow burning flame or a wild fire. There is no wrong choice. If you're tired of one, your in the age where you could safely switch to the other and no one would blame you for it, Mr. Budda.

  • @santiagodevill Hey, I always deserve it! :p There is no real regret in this poem... actually, it's just a poem... I wrote it several different ways and chose this version... to my twisted mind, it is a hopeful poem... because the character realizes taking the chance of getting hurt is a small price to pay for experiencing love...

  • @DavidRandallCurtis, tooshay!

  • I always love your readings, your voice is perfect. "cupids crash test dummy" brilliant line.

  • good to hear you reading again DRC :) _ jessie

  • David, it's been a while since I say hello, let me tell you that poem was an adjective I never used before "sexy'. Love it!

  • Just re-watched this. Twice. I just love your style, and this is a good one!

  • god damn you are brilliant, David. I love this. Thanks, you.

  • oh my goodness, this was delicious. i've been away far too long.

  • @greennautilus Hey! That is way off! First of all, I'm STANDING and I quit trying to impress dates a long time ago! It was hopeless. All it did was make them feel awkard! :P *thanks for leaving a comment anyway*

  • Great poem David! Listening to you recite is a total joy :)

  • @Nigelcf Thanks, that means a lot coming from you! :P

  • cupid's crash test dummy, is a great line, a great line among many great lines.Good to see you're back again

  • @SeasideAtheist I've got about 133 uploads.. about 95-100 of those are orginal poems... the rest are me reciting poems by other youtubers/famous poems by Bukowski or Plath or tag type videos.. so yeah... I'll be getting back into trying to get 3 new orginal poems up every month now that summer is over... In Sept. I want to recite a short story I've half written... I've done 2 other orginal stories that clocked in over 10 minutes... those were the hardest to memorize.... peace! :P

  • Excellent.

  • "Cupid's crash test dummy.."

You have no idea how many times I have said to myself, after reading some of your lines "I wish I had thought of it that way."

    Masterful use of the language.

  • something about your wry, dry, and sly poetry David that is just brilliant to me. I love it. Your delivery is 50% of the effect in my book.

be well and don't drop your guard,

    Paul

  • Great poetry! You and my friend definitely have a lot of heart when it comes to expressing your emotions!

  • @BigBrotherWise Thanks a lot. When I starting listening to you on that last video you posted I thought, "Oh man, this guy has a great voice for spoken word." Have you ever posted any?

  • @DavidRandallCurtis I do write poetry, but not nearly as much as I'd like to or use to. And my poems are mainly reflections of my own personal experiences and the general struggle to bring people together. :-)

  • Not bad, not bad at all. thumbs up.

  • How dare they, my mate!

    Counter the dirty little hooker

    with right cross.

Trouble with the nasty cunt is

doesn't do a damn bit of good

    to hit below their belt.

  • I hope that if I say, that this is a fine piece of writing that contains some amazing lines, it won't make you too (more) egotistical. However, it's the truth.

I especially liked, "she was sitting on a barstool

    painting her left hook."

As for the last two lines... next time I spar with a high kicking karate babe I'll take my gum shield out.

    Regards, Peter

  • yeah, but there's something hot about crazy women, isn't there?

  • Several really great lines in this. Good stuff!

  • insanity in a dress lol

beautiful, nice to listen to this ...

    ___________ ChannelThePoetry

  • 'Many of them came'??

    I heard otherwise!! :p

  • @janeczka Damn it Janeczka... I trust you with ONE secret and you blab it everywhere! :P

  • Haha! Luv the title! Most enjoyed David! Cheers Sir!

  • Perfect poem, David. That last line kicks me in the head with its cleaver, poet-y goodness.

One ancient Roman "don't kill the gladiator" hand gesture and a fave.

  • YT is acting the bollox is pissing me off because this new poem is exceptionally brilliant.

"wrecked on our bed and feeling like Cupid's crash test dummy."

    Oh yeah! Been there, baby!

Oh how long I've waited for the newest instalment from the DRC! This was absolutely no disappointment!

  • @SeasideAtheist Thanks for the comment! It took 16 takes... this is the 16th take.. there were a couple takes where I forgot a word... the rest are just trying to get the flow of the delivery to "flow" better. :p

  • "cupids crash test dummy" love it. Love gained, love lost. What the hell is love anyway? and "you'll never get kissed with your mouth guard in" sage advice and I have made a note of it in my little brown notebook.

  • this is almost the perfect alaskan pwnem except up here love is insanity in rubber boots and a flannel shirt with a big ass pistol.

  • I had to bite my computer monitor to be sure, and I am, this was gold.

  • @AnneOnAMoose I just have this image of someone biting their computer monitor... lol... Thanks for the comment.. :P

  • Well, you're still in good form. Thanks for the bout. I'd say, maybe glasses would help, but I'm afraid I'll leave myself wide open. ; )

  • @RichardRoy2 ...Leonard Cohen has this great line about relationships... goes something like, "but all I learned from love is how to shoot and someone who out-drew you" --- thanks for the comment!

  • @DavidRandallCurtis Ah...lleluya. Aleluya. Aleluya, aleluuuuuuya. Love that entire tune, and that line is amazing. Cohen did a great interview with Jian Ghomeshi from CBC's "Q" radio show, which can be found on Youtube. If you haven't seen it, I can send a link, or you can find it easily enough.

  • You're back! I wanna kiss ya ... on second thought, NOT! ;-)

  • @CousinoMacul Shameless flirt! :P

  • @DavidRandallCurtis What? You were expecting me to be classy? LOLLOLOL!!!
