Jake used Charvel from 89-90 then he used ESP Jake E LEE signature model and from time to time he used his trusty white Charvel that was his main axe for many years. This video however he is playing his purple Charvel He also plays this guitar when performing Dreams In The Dark live
I love this band. However, I don't consider them a metal band. They were more a HardRock Blues band that fell more in line with Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix.
I could picture them playing with the likes of Buddy Guy or SRV rather than throwing them in with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, or traditional Hair Metal.
Bad Lands were much more than that. Plus they were way ahead of their time because they got rid of the 80's cheezy backup vocals that some many bands were notorious for back then.
What guitar is Jake wailing on here? Kinda looks like a modern Washburn headstock but this vid is from back in the day so I'm kind of mystified.....What ever it is he getting a great raw tone with it,his playing is loose and inspired on this ......good post!
Ray Gillan hands down is THE BEST 80s metal singer IMHO. If I had a choice I'd resurrect him and start a band with him. He hit the high notes and sang very cleanly both live and in the studio...fucking phenominal. I especially like the part in this song at 2:05...the way he sings the line "When they said 'Hey Boy' this ain't your home. Pure feeling in that vocal line.
these people got their money's worth... sheesh

@2bluefor1 I think it's a Charvel, one of Jake's main axes.

Probably the best non-single on this debut. This song takes you so many places. Great feel. Hope you're doing well Jakey. God bless.

I think if Gillian didn't die before his time these guys would have coasted through the 90's.

I love this song. I saw Ian Gillen in 1985 with Black Sabbath and thought he was Ian Gillan for years afterwords.
Gillen had just replaced him, but not on the posters which I still have.
Great singer, RIP.
