i am deaf and also a good friend of Brad Williams. He is really awesome and funny. I actually told him he never puts anything about deaf people in his show. So he did. he is awesome and funny. People lighten up and have fun. he makes fun of everyone and he is the least racist person in the world. Just all around awesome.

Dear stupid hearing people - we are INTERPRETERS, not signers. Logic 101 - we listen to English and sign ASL, then watch ASL and speak English. It goes two ways. ASL is a real language. We do actual difficult work with cultural mediation, thinking in two language. People who learn the alphabet and signs for food are signers. Don't insult us - we are professionals. Trust me Brad - comedy is the hardest thing to interpret - it often doesn't make the cultural translation!

A friend of mine did a "Superman in a wheelchair breathing through a straw" joke at a show where an audience member was in a wheelchair. The guy in the wheelchair thought it was hilarious.
I found this funny, despite being raised by two deaf parents and being hard of hearing myself... Comedians have the right to be politically incorrect with disabilities, it's part of their acts and their jobs.... it's exactly the same thing with making fun of celebrities... as long as it doesn't harm or hurt anyone, free speech such as this is okay. I actually attended a Craig Ferguson show with an interpreter and he was hilarious even poking fun at the deaf!! : )

OK- so- just because the Interpreter was a retard, doesn't mean that Deaf people are politically incorrect- blunt, yes, straight forward? ABSOLUTELY, but when you live in a visual world, things have to make sense when you see them- maybe you should have made sure that the interpreter that was used was qualified, instead of just making mental notes as to how to use their inept abilities in your next routine- i work with Deaf and interpreters everyday who would have NEVER used those signs!!!!

I absolutely love this, as a deaf person I was not offended in any way…. this was too funny! I have been sharing this with my friends and family… and its so much fun watching them laugh. I’ve watched this many times and still get a kick over it!

haha ok ok ok. He is funny but so wrong!!! The interpreter that he asked for sign "retarded" and "dwarf" it is all wrong. We don't sign dwarf!! We never do!! we finger spell it. and The way he signed "retarded" its a sign for "I know I know!" kinda insulted but funny. He said deaf people always get away with anything. not true. hearing people get away with anything sometimes.

I know of R on forhead for "the R word" but literally translates to Stupid nowadays so thats what I would sign. I am not a user of the offensive R word anyway. Retarted really means "delayed" so if you sign anything the correct way you should sign delayed I guess. But You can omit words and mention he is cussing. Too bad his terp sucked.

@cologirl0408 lol yeah hearing people do get away with a lot more than us deaf people because we can't speak out if we don't know what is being said at the time. and it's not even a matter of how we sign certain words. he's a comedian and in order to make it funny interpreters try to exaggerate signs so that deaf people think it funny too. oh well. besides this video Brad is somewhat funny.

And he's right. Remember when ASL signs for Africa, Japan and a bunch of other countries were changed to be more politically correct?
A friend of mine did a "Superman in a wheelchair breathing through a straw" joke at a show where an audience member was in a wheelchair. The guy in the wheelchair thought it was hilarious.

I found this funny, despite being raised by two deaf parents and being hard of hearing myself... Comedians have the right to be politically incorrect with disabilities, it's part of their acts and their jobs.... it's exactly the same thing with making fun of celebrities... as long as it doesn't harm or hurt anyone, free speech such as this is okay. I actually attended a Craig Ferguson show with an interpreter and he was hilarious even poking fun at the deaf!! : )

@ridor9th I almost did write Deaf, and I consider myself capital-D deaf because I was raised to be proud of my Deaf identity and I do consider myself a Deaf person, in retrospect I should have said I was Deaf because you are right, we are all Deaf, no mater what the level of hearing loss is. In response to your other question, I think his firing was out-of-line, because (as I've learned from Whoopi Goldberg's comments) comics do make fun of everyone, and they don't intend to hurt feelings.
