The End boss battle was definitely alot of fun, but he used to scare the shit out of me.I was in the prone position in a patch of grass waiting for his ass to slip up next thing I know I hear the phrase "This is End"the bastard was directly behind me! It gave me a fucking heart attack LOL
@roygib09 -It can be annoying if you don't know what you're doing and you just run around like an idiot hoping to run into him. Every time you fight The End it's different and there is more than one way finish this boss battle. Its also the only boss encounter that takes place in more than one area and has the most possibilities...all the other boss fights are always the same encounter...my second favorite would have to be REX vs. RAY.

@zeikniej I doubt they ever will. Kojima is done with Metal Gear Solid. It's why they wrote Snake out of the series. Kojima doesn't want Solid Snake handled by anyone else.
Also, funny thing, MGS3 was supposed to be released on the PS3, but it's release kept being pushed back and pushed back, so Kojima decided to put it on the PS2
I have no interest in it. I hate Raiden, and I prefer Kojima's style of gameplay.
It does seem cool, but I gotta say, Kojima is one of the best game designers in the history of gaming in my opinion. The man created an entire genre of game.

I agree, Kojima is one of the best game designers! It's amazing what he produces. Not only the story is fantastic, but the graphics are really good too.
Raiden would have been better if it wasn't for that horrible Skull Suit. It ruined him for me. That and his character gets on my nerves. The way he was written in 2 (haven't played 4 yet) annoyed me. He seemed like a naive rookie. In Metal Gear, although Snake was a rookie, he wasn't nearly as bad. Idk what it is about him, but I just don't like him. Regardless, I don't think Rising is gonna live up to the Series' name.
You know what I realized? If Volgin never used the nukes to destroy the research facility, The Boss wouldn't have to be killed, Zero wouldn't have created the patriots to fulfill the The Boss's wish,Big Boss wouldn't have been cloned, PMC's wouldn't have propagated, the war economy wouldn't exist, and most of all, Solid Snake wouldn't be alive to tap Meryl on MGS1. :D
Lori Alan will ALWAYS be remembered for playing The Boss on MGS3. I know her for playing Mrs.Puff on spongebob and Diane Simmons on family guy. I know she' still alive and all but that's how I remember her for.

@rdrazek1989 The Boss calls NAKED Snake Jack, because that's his given name. Meryl Calls SOLID Snake David, as that is his given name. Naked Snake and Solid Snake are two separate entities, the latter being a clone of the former. The Boss defected because she held loyalty to a higher organization than her native country.

That would be my opinion of his emotion...who else would keep going after being broken and thrown off a bridge?(not to mention having your eye shot out or jumping 700 feet into your short term grave and coming back) He knows he must complete the mission...that is true courage.

At the end, when Johh Doe listen Eva's audiotape, he learns that The Boss didn't betray the United States. She defected because she want to save the world, from the new World War, between Russia and United States. Boss had very difficult choice. She defected to Russia, to be close to Colonel Volgin, because he's the one, who carries "Philosopher's Legacy". Boss need to prove him her loyalty, that's why she kicked Naked Snake out of the bridge and tried to cut his eye and et.c.
Am i the only one who thinks that the Metal Gear saga will not truly be complete unless hideo kojima does a remake of Solid Snake's original adventures i.e the original Metal Gear 1 (operation intrude N313) and Metal Gear 2: solid snake ?
I think it would be a shame to leave snakes story in MSX graphics format while Big Boss is taken to near god like status with his sory told on the PS3 & PSP Game systems respectively.
@filaniyanni I want a MG1/MG2 3D remake with a full modern soundtrack by Harry Gregson Williams, voice acting and full PS3 3D graphics, and of course for it t be put in one game. Call it "Metal Gear Solid: Origins" or something.
Along with these, they can update what really happened in the original games, and maybe even develope the story a better. But however.. NO retcons or twisting/changing anything that happened. And yeah it MUST be directed by Kojima and developed by HIS team.

it's not that he got beaten by a woman that bugs me it's not she beat him so easily he wasn't even a challenge for her didn't they develop CQC together? If she trained him for years and she was able to beat him that easily she clearly wasn't a very good teacher. and let's face it, in real life men will always be better fighters and soldiers then women. They're bigger, stronger, and faster.
@Zain844 Another typical sexist. Since when is being bigger an advantage in modern day warfare? How are men faster than women, when their lower body strength is roughly the same, and reflex speed exists independently of physical strength? The only advantage men have is better upper body strength and increased aggression, the latter of which is sometimes more of a disadvantage and a hinderance.
@Epistolary8 It's not upper body strength it's everything. Women's bones are less dense and more prone to breaking. They are less adept to handle increased g-forces. Women also have less aerobic capacity then men along with shorter legs and smaller muscles this why they can't run as fast or as far as men (on average) it's not being sexist it's facts. Women's physical requirements to enter the military are lower then men's because men are faster and stronger.
@Zain844 I can't speak for other military branches, but in the Marine Corp, the female Marines have to meet almost exactly the same requirements as the men. There is virtually no difference, besides a single upper-body excercise that's made easier for the women. I'd consider that some degree of proof that the physical difference between a determined woman and a man is minimal to the point of insignificance.
@Epistolary8 I've read the stats for physical testing of marines and in every test the men did better then the woman. Like i said, it's not just upper body strength. Men are physically superior in EVERY WAY except maybe flexability. Women are more flexable then men are. if the differences between men's physical prowness and women's is so small why don't women compete with men in professional sports it's probably for the same reason you wouldnt have a 200lb boxer fighting a 140lb boxer.
As for advantages in modern day warfare you think all soldiers do is shoot guns? you have any idea how much equipment a soldier has to carry? 20lbs body armour, 50lbs rucksack weapons, ammuntion, we are talking over 100lbs of equipment. this is why very few women serve in infantry. If I was wounded I don't know a single woman who could carry my 160 pound body on their back while wearing full armour and weapons. Yet i know many men who could.
@Zain844 Female marines don't seem to have any kind of problem carrying the same amount of equipment that the men do, so I don't know why you think that a woman is always weaker than a male. Actually according to the statistics Yes they do. Very few female soldiers are strong enough to fight in land combat. the strongest female soldier will be be weaker then the strongest male soldier. Yes some female marines are very strong but they are still weaker then their male counterparts. On average Men are stronger, faster, and more physically adept then women this is why men fight in the army more then women do. It's why they work in more hazardous and dangerous jobs

@StanpyX If anyone broke my arm threw me off a bridge and nearly killed me any emotional attachment i had for that person would be gone. and next time I see them I would kill them. The feelings he has for the boss are warped she beat him, tortured him and almost killed him and he still worships her and he still hesitates to fight her properly until the end of the game and he only does that because a bomb is going to explode. Otherwise he would have pussied out again.

@StanpyX It's not ill informed at all. It's right on the money actually his unhealthy obsession with The Boss is what caused him to lose his eye and nearly get him killed on more then one occasion. He was willing to put up with that because of some warped kind of love he had for her. He clearly had no self respect nor will of his own. even after he kills her he's still obsessed with her it's quite pathetic really. I actually laughed when he started crawling to her grave at the end of MGS4.

@felphero my entire point is most women are not cut out to be warriors. There bodies are just not built for it. I know it's a game but it looks incrediably silly to see the boss beat him so effortlessly. He did not put up a fight AT ALL. he's got the same training as her and the added advantage of being a man. Even if he fought her half assed she should have struggled a bit more to beat him it would have made for an intense scene, it just made him look like such a wimp.

Konami should remake this game for the ps3, it was a really awesome game, and it would be even better if it has the graphics from mgs4 :D

@rdrazek1989 The Boss calls NAKED Snake Jack, because that's his given name. Meryl Calls SOLID Snake David, as that is his given name. Naked Snake and Solid Snake are two separate entities, the latter being a clone of the former. The Boss defected because she held loyalty to a higher organization than her native country.

@TheDeadElement1992 i agree. his should be courage. he had his eye cut *i think its been awhile* out, he jumped 700 ft as you said and met a dead guy and also saw all the people he killed, he had almost every bone in his body broken at least twice, he was thrown off bridges, he escaped a high tech Russian (you know thats hard) prison and lived, and yet he goes on. thats a true soldier, thats courage...

It WOULD be epic, but I'm already going to be out $60 when Rising comes out. Might not have gotten it, but they had to go and make it even more amazing by doing it in 3D. I just... I need a break from Konami doing such awesome games.

At the end, when Johh Doe listen Eva's audiotape, he learns that The Boss didn't betray the United States. She defected because she want to save the world, from the new World War, between Russia and United States. Boss had very difficult choice. She defected to Russia, to be close to Colonel Volgin, because he's the one, who carries "Philosopher's Legacy". Boss need to prove him her loyalty, that's why she kicked Naked Snake out of the bridge and tried to cut his eye and et.c.

Am i the only one who thinks that the Metal Gear saga will not truly be complete unless hideo kojima does a remake of Solid Snake's original adventures i.e the original Metal Gear 1 (operation intrude N313) and Metal Gear 2: solid snake ?
I think it would be a shame to leave snakes story in MSX graphics format while Big Boss is taken to near god like status with his sory told on the PS3 & PSP Game systems respectively.

@filaniyanni I want a MG1/MG2 3D remake with a full modern soundtrack by Harry Gregson Williams, voice acting and full PS3 3D graphics, and of course for it t be put in one game. Call it "Metal Gear Solid: Origins" or something.
Along with these, they can update what really happened in the original games, and maybe even develope the story a better. But however.. NO retcons or twisting/changing anything that happened. And yeah it MUST be directed by Kojima and developed by HIS team.

it's not that he got beaten by a woman that bugs me it's not she beat him so easily he wasn't even a challenge for her didn't they develop CQC together? If she trained him for years and she was able to beat him that easily she clearly wasn't a very good teacher. and let's face it, in real life men will always be better fighters and soldiers then women. They're bigger, stronger, and faster.

How are men faster than women, when their lower body strength is roughly the same, and reflex speed exists independently of physical strength? The only advantage men have is better upper body strength and increased aggression, the latter of which is sometimes more of a disadvantage and a hinderance.

@Epistolary8 It's not upper body strength it's everything. Women's bones are less dense and more prone to breaking. They are less adept to handle increased g-forces. Women also have less aerobic capacity then men along with shorter legs and smaller muscles this why they can't run as fast or as far as men (on average) it's not being sexist it's facts. Women's physical requirements to enter the military are lower then men's because men are faster and stronger.

@Zain844 I can't speak for other military branches, but in the Marine Corp, the female Marines have to meet almost exactly the same requirements as the men. There is virtually no difference, besides a single upper-body excercise that's made easier for the women. I'd consider that some degree of proof that the physical difference between a determined woman and a man is minimal to the point of insignificance.

@Epistolary8 I've read the stats for physical testing of marines and in every test the men did better then the woman. Like i said, it's not just upper body strength. Men are physically superior in EVERY WAY except maybe flexability. Women are more flexable then men are. if the differences between men's physical prowness and women's is so small why don't women compete with men in professional sports it's probably for the same reason you wouldnt have a 200lb boxer fighting a 140lb boxer.

As for advantages in modern day warfare you think all soldiers do is shoot guns? you have any idea how much equipment a soldier has to carry? 20lbs body armour, 50lbs rucksack weapons, ammuntion, we are talking over 100lbs of equipment. this is why very few women serve in infantry. If I was wounded I don't know a single woman who could carry my 160 pound body on their back while wearing full armour and weapons. Yet i know many men who could.

Actually according to the statistics Yes they do. Very few female soldiers are strong enough to fight in land combat. the strongest female soldier will be be weaker then the strongest male soldier. Yes some female marines are very strong but they are still weaker then their male counterparts. On average Men are stronger, faster, and more physically adept then women this is why men fight in the army more then women do. It's why they work in more hazardous and dangerous jobs

In my entire life i've NEVER encountered a woman who was physically stronger then me. it's not a social stigma that keeps women from competing with men in sports. But she's implied to be a highly skilled soldier and CQC master, so it's not improbable she can kick mens asses in combat. Biology is one thing, but developed skill is another. Fighting isn't just about strength. The Boss is an exception to the rule.
Newsflash: There were no women in the main US military in WW2 either, but The Boss is commanding a special forces unit! Its a game...

@Zain844 Or you could look at it another way, and think it made The Boss look strong and skilled. A few minutes before this scene, Snake had just kicked Ocelot and his teams asses in a CQC fight, and he's an ex-Green Beret, so it's established he's not a wimp.
But then again, I don't think that was even the point of The Boss kicking his ass numerous times. He's still emotionally attached to her, so he's hesitant to fight her with his full strength/skill.

@StanpyX If anyone broke my arm threw me off a bridge and nearly killed me any emotional attachment i had for that person would be gone. and next time I see them I would kill them. The feelings he has for the boss are warped she beat him, tortured him and almost killed him and he still worships her and he still hesitates to fight her properly until the end of the game and he only does that because a bomb is going to explode. Otherwise he would have pussied out again.

But yes, Big Boss is too obsessed with The Boss for his own good. That's an intentional flaw. He can own an entire Spetsnaz team in a CQC battle, but he hesitates to fight The Boss will full will until the end. The fact he puts up with her beatings shows the intensity of their relationship..

@StanpyX It's not ill informed at all. It's right on the money actually his unhealthy obsession with The Boss is what caused him to lose his eye and nearly get him killed on more then one occasion. He was willing to put up with that because of some warped kind of love he had for her. He clearly had no self respect nor will of his own. even after he kills her he's still obsessed with her it's quite pathetic really. I actually laughed when he started crawling to her grave at the end of MGS4.

On the contrary, Snake is a pretty tough guy for putting up with The Boss so many times. Anyone can just quit with the Boss and then have you kill you, its less painful. Doing what Snake did (not fully let go of her) is a lot more painful and torture.
Doing the later is irrational but takes a lot more mental strength to put up with all that shit.

While men DO have a natural advantage, it doesn't mean that women are incapable of defeating men. Cultures which allowed women fighters developed special, yet powerful fighting styles for females.
However average women need to enhance their chances by training and maintaining a healthy life, while any average Joe can swing his arms around and get a (relatively) powerful result.

@felphero my entire point is most women are not cut out to be warriors. There bodies are just not built for it. I know it's a game but it looks incrediably silly to see the boss beat him so effortlessly. He did not put up a fight AT ALL. he's got the same training as her and the added advantage of being a man. Even if he fought her half assed she should have struggled a bit more to beat him it would have made for an intense scene, it just made him look like such a wimp.
