@TheEHJJBO I honestly couldnt tell you, it was a random thing I got several years ago as a present. More than likely that I got it from a games shop or something, but if you would want it today best bet would be to search amazon or places like that.
I recently dug this game out from all my old ones. I played it a lot as a kid. I didn't really appreciate the game as I do now. It has a really cinematic quality during the cut scenes.
@AllThreeWitches I completely agree. When I started playing this when I was younger, I felt utterly hopeless at it, but now, like you said, I appreciate it all the more. I guess its a matter of what sort of gaming environment you grow up with, and how you as a gamer grow up with it.
@Ratonga Indeed, it ended up with a more comicbook like feel to it, which just didnt suit the game. I also felt that the changes to the combat system and sudden introduction to a rather complex base management system didnt help.
@GazeBass Me, obviously, given I put up 3 videos of it. I'd be willing to bet you can find quite a few people who play old video games, heck I even own the First GTA. Call me old fashioned but I enjoy playing games from way back when.
@IrishBagel07 You have to realize these youtube trolls are about 13 years old and are incapable of anything approaching thought in their gameplay. These games require thought.. so they can't play it. They want the game to play itself for them while they aim an iron sight and pull a trigger with no thought. Its the death of the gaming industry, which is why we see the same crap every year, churned out for these thoughtless fratkids.
I guess I'm one of the few people I know who actively seek out older games that can still be played (with the aid of mods and such) on newer platforms. I guess a factor for it is that I grew up playing these.
@IrishBagel07 Did you just call someone expressing his thoughts a troll? Seriously? Accept that everyone don't feel the same. What's wrong with this world... When I comment that I don't like a game and some guy comes and defends it I usually just reply with "How good that you have found a game that you like, I'm happy for you" and I mean it, why all the hate and "0mg haow can u liek dat gejmz it suuux!1", obviously this guy isn't that smart but you're not smart either.
@DasTasche I accept that people have opinions, and by all accounts they are entitled to them. I just feel that it would be polite to withhold the opinion of the "thislookslikeagiantpieceofshitimmaplayCoD" (bit of a stereotype but whattheheck) variety, and just leave it be. There really isn't a point to posting a comment like that aside to get someone to snap at them and start a flamewar.
To everyone watching this video, I will be starting a Lets Play series for UFO Aftermath. either subscirbe or keep and eye on the playlist for updates in the future.
@LosEagle The best UFO game I've ever played has to be this one, UFO Aftermath, it goes back to the same sort of gameplay and tactics in the first X-COM: Enemy Unknown, which was the first UFO game I played.
they had mortar firying aliens (alchemists) that could kill you'r soldiers with a heartbeat (seriosly if you get a couple of alchemists on a hight area or hiding somewhere you are SCREWED even if you are using heavy suits they will just kill you'r soldiers or at least break their suits before you can even find them) then again maybe this one gets harder as you progress
i got to the part with the biomas and then lostintrest
@killer21334 i will agree with you about the alchemists. however, the difficulty for afterlife was just random. one mission i would destroy about 20 beastman without any difficulty. then i go face about 6 or 7 recticulans and they just mind control me.
@chype the gameplay changes in aftershock seemed to go a bit far, the ground combat was a lot harder to get used to, i.e more than one level in buildings, and the addition of managing the bases ment I had alot more to worry about. I could just about play it without losing completely, but i found Aftermath alot more enjoyable in terms of an RTS game, given the combat was simpler, but still dangerous at times, and the R&D was simpler, and bases were simple to change.
@chype i can't really tell which one is better but if you liked Aftershock then you will probobly like this one aswell
and if you're gonna buy Aftershock then you should look for a disc that has all three (Aftermath,Aftershock and Afterlight) it will save you some money if you decide that you want to try afterlight aswell (which you probobly will if you liked Aftershock and Aftermath)
i buyed the disc with all three games just in case you're wondering...
@snowydro1 it is a RTS (Real Time Strategy) game, like command and conquer, dawn of war, that sort of thing, but on a small scale dealing with 7 troops, in a sort of squad command scenario.
It takes some getting used to the way it works, you cant just get your team to steamroll every scenario ( i learned that the hard way ). once you get the hang of it tho, it is a lot of fun.
I guess, you have to play it a bit longer then 5 minutes.... cause I know UFO since his old-school part: UFO Enemy Unknown! And I don´t know about that one.... maybe I will get this in the future for 5€ or something.
@Blackbohnster first UFO game i played was Enemy Unkown, i played it loads, i sort of forgot about it after a while, and when my uncle bought round a demo for this, i knew this was a a game i needed the full version of.
You can probably get the trilogy version of this for €5 or something on the internet. (i say trilogy version, as this is the first of 3 games, and this version of it is more updated than the stand-alone version)
those enemy units must be 0bamabots attacking
lead by their marxist leader 0bama ...who likes to have gay sex with arab children...
and wants to spread communism all over humanity.

I miss this game, its a pitty the rest of the series lost the gritty feel and atmosphere of this one. I was disappointed with the rest of the series.

It was released back in 2003, so naturally its not going to be as flash or shiny as anything released in the last month.

out of all three games, aftermath has to be the hardest
Pow3rh0use 6 months ago
@Pow3rh0use i would agree. even on the easy difficulty some of the missions are punishing, particularly Kaspin Yar

@IrishBagel07 ufo afterlight was hard at times but it wasnt like it was brutally challenging
Pow3rh0use 6 months ago
@Pow3rh0use indeed, i guess i had trouble getting used to the way it played, it was a lot different than Aftermath
IrishBagel07 6 months ago
@Pow3rh0use I have to disagree
i think that Afterlight the hardest one
they had mortar firying aliens (alchemists) that could kill you'r soldiers with a heartbeat (seriosly if you get a couple of alchemists on a hight area or hiding somewhere you are SCREWED even if you are using heavy suits they will just kill you'r soldiers or at least break their suits before you can even find them) then again maybe this one gets harder as you progress
