You put together a lot of thoughts I've had on the subject well. Thank you for the video and the conceptual connections. :]
This is a great conversation video and you seem to really know how to talk in a noninflammatory way that seems it'd bring good thoughts to the more. . . solidified minds.
The example for me was my father and my first bike and training wheels. He put those extra wheels on and adjusted them so I would barely be able to maintain upright status if I leaned too far over. Not like my friends dad who put *his* wheels on so far down they touched the ground and he couldn't fall over if he tried. No need to guess who graduated off those damn fool things and could ride anywhere safely without them in no time flat, eh ?
"Someone is only "selfish" if they fight and argue to protect their property over other people's lives"
If you were to scrimp and save and only use what you needed, and sent your money to an impoverished village in Africa, you could save lives. But instead of doing this life saving effort, you've chosen to buy luxuries for yourself, like a computer. You're choosing not to help people in that way because it would impact your quality of life. Do you have a right to be selfish?
And I don't thinking getting government involved in the healthcare industry [more involved then what it already is] is the solution, I think in the end it will only end up hurting more people. If anything we need less government in the field, particularly lower some of the barriers to entry lobbied for by the AMA that has reduced the availability of healthcare, by eliminating competition with pharmacists and other people providing more basic care.

"I should spend more of my discretionary income on helping those at the edge."
So, why aren't you doing it right now?
