  • are you saying that google doesn't want to control the internet? :p

ofc they want, now they made google+ you got proof xD

  • Great job

  • Thank you very much, I'm doing a school assignment on Net Neutrality and your video was must helpful. Really appreciate it, you saved me @9:21p.m. ... paper due at 12 midnight :) Love ya!

  • Nice job on the video looks good. When you have time come visit my channel!

  • Hey next time can you turn off the noise in the background? That beep every 5 seconds was extremely annoying...

  • @megadrummer2 thx for the feedback bro, may turn down the music volume in the future

  • what's the news these days about net neutrality?

  • thank u for cussing at me ur reali nice. i was doin a project about this. n now ur talkin bout i should do some research u lazy ass. do u knw how old i am compared to u. it says ur 24. im 15. im a teen but i can see u alreadi cuss in ur video so i cant expect any better from u. n i got a a plus without ur help. :(

  • @Bustedbaybee Hey there BustedBaybee, I'm terribly sorry that I overlooked your comment and wasn't able to help you out. I'm not sure what you mean by 'cussing at you' because I wouldn't have any intentions to and I don't think I've said anything that was meant to personally offensive to you. If I offended you, I apologize and I'd be happy to help with any future net neutrality projects you're doing. Also feel free to message me at any time, I do my best to answer all msg's/mails/comments asap.

  • 10 or 20 years from now the Internet will be obsolete, the Grid is coming soon the internet gave us a taste but it will be nothing compared to what is to come.

  • @RobertoTheBlade the grid... I have a fuzzy idea what you're meaning...

  • its already happening try to watch russian networks from the states you wil get Lost of sound or the vid yust wouldent play

  • well said my friend

  • Dude the FCC should not be trusted any more than ATT. They work together. The guy in charge of the internet is a fascist by the name of CASS SUNSTIEN. But Europeans and American democrats believe what OBama says is gold. The democrats and republicans are the same party. What did Kerry and Bush disagree on? nothing.

  • He knows what he is talking about...

  • I like this guy. He's cool! Unfortunately, he's not American and has grown up under a socialist government, which of course, he thinks is good. And like a good Socialist, he likes the idea of our FCC controlling ISPs. Bad idea!

I like my free-market-ISP-controlled-internet just fine the way it is right now. My bandwidth is not capped monthly like some Europeans have and if I want more speed, I just pay my ISP more.

If you want government internet service, then support Net Neutrality.

  • u know some company's already have you on a cap right? read your TOS in the USA that is commcast has one they just dont tell u

  • You have no idea what you're talking about. FCC is not gonna own the internet, it's going to ensure that you get a good service for the price you pay.

I think you're spending too much time with crazed commie-hater old war vet grandpas.

  • No dumb ass he has grown up under a governement that employs a mixed system just like you.

  • I never have any problems streaming anything from anywhere. I trust corporations a hell of a lot more than I do government. You're not even from he Us so what business is it of yours?

  • trust corporations more than the government?.. the big corporations in most situations have more power than the governments...

  • Have you never read any history? How many people have been killed by these evil corporations in the last century? . Businesses have never had concentration camps or dug mass graves, but government has throughout history. Why would anyone with half a brain trust them? So yeah I trust business a hell of a lot more than I do governments that have killed hundreds of millions in just the last century.

  • yes that's right and the big corporations are always out for our best interest, they also have absolutely nothing to do with corruption of government and war. that is sarcasm. they have everything to do with it.

  • I wont argue with you there, but why would you assume this wouldn't happen when it comes to net neutrality. All this will do is give government the power to get more money from the lobbyist, and the corruption will favor some and shut down others. Monopolies can only exist with the aid of government. Why cant we just pass laws prohibiting undesirable behavior and enforce the law?

  • sure we can try. but someone's going to have to enforce them. i don't have much of an opinion or much knowledge about the subject, i simply in passing by noticed your comment and i think trusting the corporations more than the government isn't a very wise choice in any circumstance. honestly they are pretty much the same thing except if you are at the top of a large corporation you have more control than the president of the united states i'd say.

  • Why do you trust government? Guns don't kill people, governments kill people. When Exxon starts spending trillions of dollars on weapons, hen I'll trust government more. Fair enough. Companies can only exist by offering a product or service that is needed or wanted by the public, profit is the necessary measure that the public uses to approve or disapprove of the good or service. In capitalism, greedy men can only advance with the approval of his fellow man.

    Greedy Socialist simply steal more.

  • i don't trust government at all. governments use their bullshit to manipulate people whereas big corporations use people's needs to manipulate people. they both manipulate people. the oil companies and microsoft.. two classic examples.

  • There is an easy way to stop any manipulation that you feel is being bestowed upon you by corporations, don't do business with them. Better yet go into business against these corrupt entities. It should be easy to get their market share since they are so crooked. If you take the last 25 yrs and look at profit returns on investment, oil companies have some of the lowest returns. On average about 5% return on capital investment

  • I've yet to find a country that actually practices Capitlism, it is like communism a theory nothing more.

  • @somename99

    agreed

  • @somename99 capitalism doesn't exist... anarchy doesn't exist... communism doesn't exist... they're just markers for how close a country is the that ideal.

  • Haha! For Americans, I think this issue comes down to the question: Do you believe the big corporations can handle Internet better (given that they are "for profit") or the US Government can handle it better (given that they are not-necessarily "for profit", but there is a risk of corruption). I throw in with the government, personally, because we've already seen what big corporation CEOs do with too much power. It could be that neither party is best, but you have to choose one or the other.

  • This guy is almost 100% right.

I hope the American public isn't stupid enough to not see this. They're pretty stupid, though. It's going to be close.

  • Who cares about slower torrents???

GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE INTERNET!

  • well so far we still have it unlimited and wireless users can use Skype on there iphones and psps so no MAJOR changee has happend.........yet!

  • wheres athene ??

and yeah furios get your old image with hat ;D

    no seriosly

  • Ummm, this is already happening. To use your example, go to CNN and watch a video in HD. I guarantee it will always buffer fast enough for you to watch it the first time. Switch back to youtube, and every other video will have slow buffer times in HD.

  • hm. thanks for the clarification...

    good explanation too

  • I'm waiting for the standard internet speed to go up and the standard computer will be fast enough to handle HD videos on youtube and live web streams to be clearly non pixelated.

  • That kind of speed is more-or-less standard at this point already. Dial-up and DSL is still in existence and is still being accommodated. But it is not considered standard anymore. By you describing things as being "pixelated" indicates that you are using an accelerator on a slower internet connection. I really like the fact that people like Reese try to keep up with what is going on in America by reading the Wall Street Journal, but they are not here. I assure you our internet is free and safe.

  • they are blocking traffic in US so where's the obamas help?!

  • lol nice assumptions and tin foil hat theories. FOX NEWS IS GONNA STEAL MA INTERNETS IN THE FUTURE. Of course when others make similar theories THEY MUST BE INSANE. I honestly don't believe observers can really give a credible analysis of American politics, but that's just my opinion.

This video is a waste of bandwidth

  • And Google is not an ISP. They would have nothing to gain by going against net neutrality, or a free internet. It's just like Reese said in the video: People would stop clicking on ads.

  • But with cable and Fios now, I really can't imagine this being an issue anymore. I just don't see where these networks could be maxing-out on their bandwidth. Perhaps some ISP's are trying to capitalize their gain, but all they really have to do to achieve that is jack-up their prices. Limiting bandwidth just would not make any sense, and as long as there is no monopoly in internet service providers there will always be competition keeping prices down.

  • I understand the concern here, and I have been following this issue for about a year now. But I still don't really see the danger. Wireless internet, not the kind where your laptop hits off of a router but the kind when you access the internet directly from a cellphone tower, has always had limited bandwidth. Back in the days of dial-up and DSL, I could see this being a concern.

  • Contrived Euro-lies. Enough doobies for this euro-hippie. Give us your tired, poor, angry, and we will transform them into soldiers to shoot you. Fuck Obama, and fuck this shit.

  • i have a project on this can u explain it to me like make a video of it so i can explain i need this for friday the 9th of october please help me :)

  • How about you do some research yourself lazy ass

  • Australia already has Bandwidth caps, get over it damn Americans and Europeans.

  • this crap isnt true

  • i live in texas, where the nieborhood shares bandwith, each nieborhood has the same, theyll give us say 100mb/s and we all share off the same line, although if that cap is far excedid then they increase the nighborhood , i pay for 6 mbs but sometimes at night when everyone is sleeping i get anywhere to 6-20, this spike happens i think because we got fiber optics, alot of us still doesnt have it

  • Thanx for the info

  • the internet is the foundation of tommorows world, will it be monopolised like the way television is? i hope not, the internet belongs to the people, not corporations and it should stay that way. good job guys.

  • Thanks for takeing up arms for the fight against the big business and there need and want to be a Monopoly

  • currently doing a paper on internet censorship, thank you for the info, and great website

  • wil be on tv soon prob

    nice video reese

    groetjes uit belgie:)

  • i see this is really youre passion Reese ;) you are a great inspiriation ;) thank you

  • you are the most intellegent speaking person ive ever heard on youtube. lol.

  • Support Net Nautrality - Support Freedom!

  • my country has this

  • ohhhhhh now i get it and i am officially upset with this bullshit...

  • Woah. Didn't know about this. Thanks for informing us!

  • Ohhhhhh now I understand...I'm a victim of this shit in America. I had no clue this crap was going on but yay they need to be backed down.

  • Man I hate Republicans. Of course they're totally against net neutrality, they only want the messages out there that push their agendas, yet according to them, the left is destroying freedom, when in acctuality, they're promoting it.

  • republicans and democrats both have extreme downsides. its all opinionated i personally dont give a shit about politics mainly because both sides lie about a ton of shit. so im a anarchist

  • Yeah I became a libertarian because of all the repubs and dems in Washington they all lie to you on the campaign trail. The less gov't the better.

  • exactly i totally agree.

  • If you believe the Democrats are any better than the Republicans you are sorely mistaken, the truth is they both have their agendas and we the people have nothing to do with it.

  • This whole net neutrality thing is wierd. Surely if net neutrality gets fucked up and isp's can limit you speeds on certain sites, wouldnt it make sense for say one company to break that mould and give "Unlimited" bb and steal all the other isp's customers ?

  • LOL now i understand it ty

  • does this affect canada as well? if it does, will they change it here too?

  • I remeber about the FCC from family guy when i first heard about them. I remember in that episode where the start senscoring anything that is not appropriate. Looks like they gonna screw things up in real life like they did in family guy

  • He said the FCC is for net neutrality.

  • i know

  • Ok, well in your earlier comment you said they were going to screw things up.

  • i didnt say they would start censoring things - i said they was gonna screw things up

  • indeed

  • obama is helping us :)

  • Man just let us go on what we want when we want and dont filter/block anything man god the internet is every thing in this age we NEED to proccet it NOW!

  • ISP's should just give us the internet connection.

We are the ones that should keep shaping the internet, we don't need the only free place to be fucked by companies and media

  • Net neutrality is already fucked here in Egypt.

Since a month all internet providers had limited every connection...

  • "Oh no man, look at this bill, I clicked too many Google ads again" Best moment

Your video loads so slowly Dries... I WONDER WHY!! Ö

  • I don't have a cap of bandwidth that I'm aware of.

  • meant to say, I don't have a bandwidth cap I'm aware of.

  • yeah australia's internet is lame haha we want faster and unlimited dammit

  • OMG!! TOO MUCH INFORMATION!!!!

  • Great Job, I always love your net neutrality videos.

I suggest you make one at least every couple of weeks

  • great vlog!

  • Reese, this was a very informative vblog for the International Community.

  • THE INTERWEBS IS EVIL!!!

  • andrewfinch123 says: "u make geeks look cool man WIN" BloodyAngel says: "Nerds FTW" monkey9090 says: "internet isnt just for nerds noob" And no1 said it was, retard. You're real quick with them slick words, but offend further and get served. You no different than a shit turd, fixin' to get burned. The bitch perv type known to spit sperm chewin' on dick perm.
  • U GOT SERVED N BURNED YO

  • lol BloodyAngel owned monkey9090

  • neat-o it rhymed lol

  • u smell

  • Nerds represent!! Go Reese!! 5/5

  • Nice song and videos.

  • I would freak if my ISP gave me a cap!!!

I know friends in Canada that have to check everything they do to make sure they don't go over their low bandwidth cap. Allot of the time we wont see them on for a week or more because they went over.

  • Love watching you...

love your voice even more. Keep us informed ..yum !

  • Nerds FTW *****5 Stars*****

  • internet isnt just for nerds noob

  • i hate republicans, they are evil

  • u make geeks look cool man

    WIN

  • I find it dishonest and sneaky how people (like the guy in this video) try to conflate two separate issues. I have no problem at all with ISPs shaping traffic based on the data type, I don't see why someone who mostly uses the internet for normal sites, email, etc should suffer a slow network because others are downloading 300 GB of bit torrents, HD films, etc.

That is an entirely separate issue from an ISP doing "deals" and giving priority to Fox over CNN for instance.

  • Sometimes i recon That when i download from bitcomet some of my

    Net acess get blocked.

  • for me it's all fine until I can play WoW normally

  • Love your vlogs man, keep em coming!

  • Sure, youtube can't block or flag videos that has 0$ just for no reason.

  • ncie vlog man you gave us lots of light to look forward too. cant believe they're are talking so much bullshit. Cant wait for the next vlog man.

  • No offence but the bandwidth limits in Belgium are ridiculous IMO. Sure, there are limits to the amount of traffic the infrastructure can handle, but 25 gigabytes a month? If anything is "bullshit" here, it's those limits.

  • THANK YOU! for bringing light about the net neutrality issue which is a GLOBAL ISSUE and how we must fight to keep a free and neutral internet.

  • you're back :D

and now I finally get what net neutrality is about,

    it becomes pretty clear now

  • very good thinking, in long run they will just start to cut apart world with local country your on, to watch some more websites or whatever you will need to pay extra.. the more better speeds (+flat) are coming, means more threat.

  • Welcome back Reese has been a long time

  • lobbyist = Durp interwebs is not a truck, it's a serise of tubes.

Caps = limit progress, period. the one thing in this world that limits progress the most is the world of finace and trying to squeeze as much profit out of the needs of the people, people need comunication, people need travle, people need food, people need homes, people need clothes, people need heat & people need light. All these things are KEY to funding the worlds economy & as long as we need them they will always be expensive

  • We have no problems with net neutrality here in Poland. We Polish are one of major torrent-downloaders... which makes piracy very popular... which shouldn't happen. Anyway our government and internet providers don't do any filtering or download-slowing... yet.

Anyway, I still can acces any page and download anything :P

  • Net neutrality isn't as big a problem here in Australia. Nearly all of our internet providers have never offered unlimited broadband, sided with the fact that internet in Australia is very relatively slow (due to low people-to-land area ratio).

I hope net neutrality works out for America and Europe! Good luck.

  • What are you talking about? You guys in australia has one of the most serious problems with Net.Nut ever. Your goverment is filtering your internet access just like the chinease goverment does...

  • no its not ...australia has a very major problem with NN ....first it was the great australian firewall and now they want to monitor and cancel out any site they want .....no different then china.

australia and china are in major NN crysis atm .....australia does have hope cus they are democrate and stuff .....but china will probably not get it fixed unless they switch to democracy or something.

  • i have unlimited lol reese

  • These videos are amazing Reese. So much of America's youth's views on some of our current problems are just shoved into their minds by their parents. You give them a more interesting way of learning about current events rather than watching the news. I can't explain how great of a thing I think you have got going here. Keep it up, and I look forward to every bit of it.

  • The only story here is the media companies that have over the year purposefully thrown one wrench after another at the Internet, preventing true high speed. Just compare to Japan. Think: Why doesn't Obama just snap his finger and bring Japanese speed Internet here, like he brough socialist Europe to the US for all his other initiatives?

  • no comment on this issue.. i dont trust anyone on net neutrality anymore, everyone including obama should leave it alone.. i sence the darkside in him, nobody should control this in any way!

  • Reese. You have educated so many people! :D

  • all the thing that you are saying... its happening here in argentina

  • I've got Cox Digital Cable and I've never had a problem, and I'm on the internet everyday for at least 5-6 hours.

  • I Pay for WoW every month and not being able to play when i want & and Load a Youtube Video ( i Could for some strange Reason watch BBCIplayer, Like you said people making deals) is not good enough at all....They are just money Grubs

  • i fucking love the type of vids you make

    Keep up the great work

    ATHENE WINS FAN FOR LIFE

  • We change ISP, then its fine for a year.

When they choke me, we will most likely change once again...its annoying but its the way the greedy jew bastards work. :)

  • Keep up the good fight Reese

  • There are lots of no limit providers in belgium...

But the bandwidth sucks ass if you're with more then one on the same net.

I had dommel.. but it sucked cause i couldnt play MP games while i was downloading something.

I went back to telenet ..and now i hate this shit cause you can only DL like 20GB a month :s

But the bandwidth is 3 times faster or so.

Gief no limit telenet lol :p they dont do that shit cause they know people will buy extra packages.

Everything has to do with money, thats all

  • I live in North America, and this capping your bandwidth bull is so annoying. I'm only 18, but I always run out of bandwidth (Live in a house of 7 people... 5 computers, and my dad likes to torrent a LOT of movies). They cripple my upload speeds as well. I hate being thought a leech, cause I'm not. I try to upload as much as I can, but when you get 10 torrents going and only 3 of them at MOST upload 3 kb/s... It's kind of annoying.

  • my provider slows my bit torrent to like .1 kbs.... its like -,-

  • Reese is a beast.

    He knows his shit.

  • Do you live in the US Reese? Just curious because I don't know.

  • He's in Belgian.

  • belgium... sigh

  • SIGHHhhhhhh SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

lmao I was staring at that for a bit.. knew that was wrong... *points at Xelor's "I'm a belgian fan"*

  • DORITOS, I Love You,Furious, Athene ,Tania and Maral , I'm belgian fan from Brussel, you all rules :D

  • I love you too :D

  • This all makes sens...

    really..

  • great vid reese! :)

  • Awesome video. I happy to know that Obama actually cares or even knows about the problem with net neutrality.

  • Reese is the fuckin man

  • Thats sux, i'm living in Poland and when my country wasnt in european union i got like 40gb dwn. limit for 1 month on my net. After couple months after joining EU i have no limit for my downloads. Thats really cool. But i never heard about limited acces to some pages or etc. But i hate this when on yt u got messege: "This video its not avaible in your country". So what? My country is kinda worst then other? We need to buy special acces to watch those kinda clips ? WTF?

  • Regarding the bandwith limit, i'm always worried about the amount i'm using by just clicking and watching these videos, being Australian.

... i hope this video doesn't use much

  • Hopefully Europe and Australia will look at the positive effects of Obama's net neutrality plan and use it themselves.

  • I enjoyed this video make more =)

  • Well done Reese :)

  • good video. I love theese vlogs, they give me so much info. Please make them daily

  • that was funny lulz and awesome information man :]

  • Great job Reese looking forward to more!

  • Nice video, very informative, looking forward to more.

  • Nice video Reese :D!

  • Gj Reese

  • great video and very informative. thanks

  • Reese, you are a smart guy.

  • Check out the thumnail to the "nasa bombing the moon" video over there ->

LOL, sorry about the irrelevant comment

  • Can I just ask. You're Abraham in the Athene series right? What is everybody elses real names in the Athene cast? And I really enjoy your videos! Very informative :)

  • That was pro. The way you make videos like this is great, you cut out every single 'erm' and made it flow very well. Also, great news!

  • Well said. But I dont share your optimism for resolving the situation. Nor do I trust Obama too much. And Im certainly not happy about the proposed bill by Rockefeller and Snowe basically allowing the US pres to just turn off the internet if he thinks it would be best for the so called security of the country. Yup. Internet. Off. If he feels like it.

  • OH SHIT LOOK AT THIS BILL I CLICKED TOO MANY GOOGLE ADS AGAIN:( rofl!.

  • Definitly favoriting this one.

  • ''Yo Guys!, i'm back!''

  • In English please Reese =\

  • great vlog

  • IM ON THE FIRST PAGE!!!

  • Reese, what do you think of things like Youtube channels that have country restrictions on them. For example, Pennsays and all of the other channels owned by sony/crackle are only availiable to people inside the USA. I think it's bullshit!
