One thing I do to make my lego buildings explode is that i build them around party poppers. when its time to destroy the city i simply pull the string and the concussive force somtimes knocks it down. You may want to try it with 5-10 in the structure and pull them all at once! Although if you want to try that into a movie makesure that people can't see the strings being pulled!
