People simply don't think or pay attention to what's around them. They either don't consider getting in lane till the last possible second, or they seem to think every lane is a free for all...
Three lane entry (marked Left for turning left, middle for straight on, and right for turning right) onto a two lane roundabout.
I set myself on the left side of the right hand lane (because I turn right) and once I'm past the 2nd junction, I move to the left hand lane (as in the highway code).
It's amazing how many people go for the right hand lane to go straight forward but honk at me for being in their way half way around and they're a foot from my back wheel
And the scary thing is, I once had a 8 inch screw go through my rear tyre, which jammed up the wheel when it hit the frame stopping me dead in my tracks.
If this was to happen with the above example..... I'd be dead in 'their' tracks! :(
You should post all violator's license plate on the Web. I intend to do that in the future. I'm sick and tired of stupid drivers, but cyclists must also follow the rules. Unfortunately, too many do not know the rules. Either way, my safety first!
You get quite a few black cab drivers doing this quite a lot on Hyde Park Corner, because the offside lane at Park Lane usually has either no or the shortest queue, and then they cut across 5 lanes to make it down Constitution Hill.
I had almost the same incident this weekend, but I wasn't wearing my cam that day, d'oh! Got to use the AirZound though! The car honked back and flipped me off, so I smiled and waved.
I don't know what was behind you, but, assuming nothing, he could of just waited for you to get past if he'd made a mistake...save putting you in harm's way.
You did the right thing though, keeping an eye on where he was going and all!
Classic BMW driver with important drug deals to attend to. Nothing will get in his way!

I believe the term is: it's not rocket science, and not rocket surgery.

@natbre2112 Yes I know thanks. Now I'll just make like a 'tree' and get the 'flock' out of here.
