So we don't know the Dobes' Intelligent is not the same as IQ in this case ,it's obediences the ability to obey new commands etc. but anyways the German Shepherd is more versatile in my opinion better tracking ability. The guarding ability i would definitely give it to the Doberman (In Open Space btw) ..

Black coat is so glossy. They're much more trusty protection dogs. They don't get hair on every last inch of the house like the Sheperd does. No dog is perfect but their is preference. I prefer the Doberman. It's a excellent dog. I own 2.

All can beg to differ and I'm ok with that. I love both breeds. Same goes for any working dog. Mal's are so different due to bloodline from the 45 lb French line dogs to the 100 lb Belgian bred dogs for example. Unfortunately, there are so many variations in these breeds it's almost unfair to compare.

I have owned s Shepard first. Dobes after the Shepard. LOVE both breeds but now that I owned a Dobe Ill NEVER get another breed. Just my preference.
