  • You have misunderstood my first post, nevermind you're right.

  • Fuck, I watch again and again these videos and I ask myself WHY this band never had the recognition they really deserved back in the day!. They were awesome all four; Tore, Roy, Ingar & Arve!!!. Beyond of any comparison, personally like more Khan with Conception than with Kamelot, even I like Kamelot's music, but what they did on this band was really cool!.

  • Roy Khan for Dream Theater please!

  • @alucard0712 it's the best thing could happen to make them take a good path to go

  • @gsusrafael You understood me!

I thing Roy himself a best thing for band to go with...))))

  • Awesome!

  • So Jack Sparrow was based on Roy Khan =O

    I'l miss him at Kamelot...

  • Roy Khan is awsome. It's so shit that this men was going to Kamelot. Kamelot is awesome to with him. But he is leavy the groep. I've cried 3 days it's so stupid

  • AMAZING BAND AMAZING SONG

  • Khan still hit his high notes, just because they arent as high as they were during the times of Conception doesn't matter. They are still high notes none the less. No one knows the reason why Khan quit hitting those notes as high as he used to, but I am pretty sure it could have revolved around his age or maybe just getting tired of straining his voice. Any singer needs a good voice for tours, too many high notes over and over again can harm you. I know, I am a singer myself.

  • @Theyzenski actually, his high notes (the ones that resemble screaming) are a combination of his real voice and falsetto, so it is of no harm to his vocal chords. I just think his range has dropped...

  • @reaponja It did. I agree, his range did drop. But maybe thats because he has strained his vocal chords during many concerts. What's for sure, newer albums of Kamelot are sang much lower. Compare Fourth Legacy with Poetry for the poisoned. He's getting old... Like Rob Halford, he still rocks but does not hit the hights anymore :(((

  • @Rotceev Yup he did lose his range, but personal opinion his tone got beter as the albums went on.The way his voice sounds on the black halo, ghost opera and PftP was great.

  • Man, that was ultra gay.

  • Tore is God !

  • anyone who calls kamelot a joke, does not know music, BOTH these bands are amazing!!!!

  • Khan had long hair?

  • @alejohp Nope. That's why he had that on.

  • His voice seems so different!

  • wow theres not difference between this and the studio recording..oh yes theres only one..this sounds better---gosh, roy looks so sexy! (i'ma girl)

  • It's a good song :)

  • Fantastic Progressive Metal band

  • Killer song, killer band.

  • OMFG I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IS ROY KHAN. THIS IS TOO GREAT!

  • amaizing voice,just briliant.The best song.

  • Khan is nothing without Ostby. Sorry guys, I know I'm a hater, but this album and Flow destroy anything Kamelot has ever done.

  • @TheJontslayer have you heard Ostby's new stuff? I think it's more the other way around. Ostby is nothing without Khan...

  • @TheJontslayer cant they both be awesome? lol, cuz they really are. i mean, ostby is great and all, but alot of that is that he worked with great vocalists like Roy Khan (as well as Jorn Lande, whos certainly no Khan, but hes certainly good), and i think they just compliment each other really well.

  • @TheJontslayer Agreed!!

Kamelot is kind of a joke next to Conception. Conception is very technical. Ostby is truely one of the greats. Too bad you never hear anything about him anymore. I heard Ark reunited recently.

  • @jossy2112 Kamelot is better. And it's written "Østby". "Ostby" would in norwegian translate to "Cheesetown", lol

  • @Windaros They dont have Ø's, so why the hell did you pick on that? Anyway, when you only heared Symphonic Metal (Kamelot, Nightwish...very straight forward) This might sound a bit off, but if you take the msuic apart, it's clearly better. Østby is clearly a better guitar player, he plays faster basically. His style is also way more interesting that Youngblood's mixing Latin rythms and freaking heavy stuff. I wont ramble on, but please listen to some more prog stuff, however, PFTP is/was MAGIC!

  • @jossy2112 No. Don't get me wrong, Conception was GREAT! But we all know that bringing Khan into Kamelot was a true strike of genious! The albums based on famous literature about interesting charactes and their trials is very nice, not to mention Khan is still pulling every stunt he did with conception off such as the amazingly high vocals and the smooth and collective tones. The only difference is, is that Youngblood isn't a guitar player like Otsby, but thats ok, this is what makes it unique.

  • @Theyzenski Khan basically stopped doing any kind of high notes after 2000, no?

I want him to book some coaching lessons like Tate did to get the high notes back, and then re-join Conception. (I wouldn't mind if he was the singer on Ark's upcoming disk either :)

  • @MrSilentDoubleA Great example is on Nights of Arabia on The Expedition CD compared to One Cold Winter's Nights version. He belts it out on ERASE THE SINS IVE MMMAAADDDEEEE back then

  • @MrSilentDoubleA i think no, after 2001/2002 he stopped with those high notes. listen to the fourth legacy and night of arabia.

  • @WenGlen2 That awkward moment when that was released in 1999...

  • @MrSilentDoubleA listen to expedition live album, year 2000.

  • @WenGlen2 Hence why I said 2000.

  • @TheJontslayer ermmm this is different from kamelot's work... this sounds heavier.kamelot has a more melodic sound

  • oh my gooooood! he REALLY LOOKS LIKE A PIRATE! ITS SO FUNNY!

  • Does Roy was using a WIG?? they seaid he uses wig for long hair and he didnt like long hair

  • Epic song.

Masters of prog-power. The real one, I mean, not the actual "double bass-drum&guitar solos galore" we are listening to nowadays.

This was, is and will be always a classic.

  • Shit, this may be older than me... xD

  • omg! que joven estaba roy y que cambio dio o.O omg!!!

  • @Xcal360 uhmmmmmmm, no.

  • Roy Khan is in Kamelot now:P

  • I had no idea that was Roy Khan until I looked up Conception on Wikipedia. Didn't look or sound like him to me.

  • he play in both Conception and Kamelot :)

  • Great band Conception, awesome dude !!!

  • I only know "march of mephisto" and I like it because Shagrath is in it, other than that it's a nice song, but I liked this singer better in Conception!

  • Joder, vaya sonido que sacaban en directo... Increiblemente buenos.

  • He has such a unique and amazing voice.

  • It doesn't sound like Khan's had his opera training here? He's only 23 here it seems...hmm

    What do people know?

  • He only had it for three years, it wasn't like he was raised from birth on it. So yes, he will have retained some of the lessons from it, but he's not an opera singer by default.

    Hope that helps :)

  • ah, sure thing mate, just wondering if this is before or after the training.

  • He had the training from age 18-21, I think. Seeing as you said this was when he was 23, then yes I think he had had the training by now.

  • Comment removed

  • @Seriphyn He took Opera around age 18 - 20.

  • Ostby is such a great guitarist.

Really, I want Conception back. It was much better than Kamelot, the guitar work was better and the lyrics didn't suck.

  • OMG man! Kamelot is the best don't say bullshit :D this is not bad but do you know what is the meaning of their lyrics, i mean Kamelot lyrics....i think you should sit down and put Epica and The Black Halo albums into your PC and listen to the whole story....Kamelot isn't prog metal and don't have to put these kinda guitar solos or riffs into their songs, it's better without this trust me ^^ ;)

  • You're going to get the fanboys all riled up... But you're absolutely right. Conception was amazing, especially for those of us who grew up with Noise Records. I want them back too. I just cant get into Kamelot, a little too cheesy. Conception was just right. And the guitar work is absolutely necessary.

  • The guitar work in this song is just rhythms and show-offy riffs. As if technical prowess could alone make a song powerful.

Without the melody in Roy Khan's voice, and perhaps without Khan's voice itself, this song would not be music to my ears.

Kamelot, to me, has shown an innate ability to make cheese beautiful. And not all of it is cheese anyway, not by a damn long shot. There is much meaning to be found in quite a few of their songs; over time I understand each a little more.

  • dude, watch your tongue.... kamelot would've disappeared long time ago if it sucked....

  • Kamelot cannot come close to the quality of Conception's music. Tore Ostby's guitar work and songwriting surpass pretty much any other prog/power band out there (well, I suppose Fates Warning has some songwriting on the same level).

Kamelot is not bad, but it doesn't hold a candle to Conception. In Your Multitude is probably the best prog metal album of all time.

  • This is so good. holy damn.

  • khan looks like a pirate

  • @sooner282002 Lmfao exactly my thoughts.

  • its someone who have complete concerts of this band

  • Woah, Tore's guitar skills are amazing. His fingers move so quickly at the end of the song, just wow.

  • Khan has a unique sounding higher register.

  • love this band! the really like to show their nipples to:)

  • huwakhuwak hahahaha i like this one!!!

  • i read somewhere that nowdays roy smokes a bit and i'm sure it plays a major role in his voice.maybe if he could stop it it could be best for him and us.rather than that he still is the BEST!

  • yea, but roy sings a fuck of a lot better kamelot today he destroyed his voice. =(

  • yes roy khan is so amazing!

  • Eh. his higher register changed. I saw them live, he's still amazing, his voice is just a little deeper.

  • I never understand why, when i like a band as much as i liked Conception, Psychotic Waltz etc.. they just quit :-(

    this is just perfect !

    Roll the fire !

  • Eh... their two totally different sounds.

    It's purely aesthetic principle.

  • Roy Khan is a great singer one of my favourites ever... Hail Conception!!! Hail Kamelot!!!

  • this is a bloody kickass band!

  • this is a great band

  • I'm not the biggest Conception-fan, but the guitarist is amazing!

  • we all miss so much tore ostby

  • he died?

  • Noup, he just are out from bands. He's productor now and work in a web, dunno what is the name. Well, we can say he still stay in the music bussiness...but we want him playing :(

  • How do you know? I've been searching for information about him for ages. He's my fav guitarist, honestly.

  • XD Roy's look in this reminds me of David Hayter when he was in Guyver 2. This is a great song.

  • Alogija eat your heart out....... Conception rules......

  • This song rules. Roy Khan is brilliant. Tore Ostby's playing and riffs are killer.

  • Roy Khan is the greatest singer ever. Kamelot is my favorite band, and he also did well in conception. Not to mention, he's gorgeous. Especially in this vid ;)

  • I agree with you 100%!!!!!!!

  • I agree with you, totally,he's the best and gorgeous,it's a killer combination:)Love Tore Otsby's amazing&unique guitar work!Both bands are GREAT!!!!

  • Holy crap this was made in 1993 i was 7 going on 8 years old then XD hehehe . He sound great then and even better now .

  • me too! by that time only queen and guns and roses existed for me,, ahhh the ignorance of the youth

  • lol i remember those days

  • OMG TORE ØSTBY ER FAEN MEG UTROLIG<3 spelle så presist live er utrolig! For et utrolig band (Y)

  • Khan hasn't lost any range. He himself said half of his more recent sound starting with the Black Halo is just a personal preference to fit the concept and tone of the albums. He said in an interview that maybe next album Kamelot will see a return to more of their Karma-esque things.

Personally I hope they do because what they've made recently sounds like main-stream trash.

  • Roy's advantage was never the infinite vocal range, but the VERY expressive vocal "color".

  • Khan is God.

That's... just all there is to say about the matter.

  • naw, Kahn owns NO MATTER what band hes in, thats why Conception is awesome, and thats why Kamelot is so COOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!

  • damn, have it your way

  • braxil is a world famous metal historian. i would listen to his opinion if i twas yew.

  • eeeer no, the Scorpions vocalist is old too but guys, did you hear his voice? So why you think Khan cannot sing so good as he did?

  • Because I have ears

  • I'd say its more likely that he doesn't want to perform Mark Vanderbilt's work. I'm sure he can sing the older stuff, but he probably prefers what he helped make over what he didn't make.

  • So what, you're saying he messes up the old material intentionally? People lose their range as they get older, opera singer or not.

  • ...people lose their range as they get older?

True, but Khan is only 37. Not old enough for him to start losing his range.

  • He's already lost a lot of his range compared to this video, but he's made up for it with much more feeling.

  • no, huh, he's an opera singer so HE CAN handle the early Kamelot material, if he wants. And he will ALWAYS be able to do it. BECAUSE HE IS ROY KHAN!!!

  • Youre SO right ^^ :P

  • I don't believe he has lost his range at all. I believe it is partly stylistic choice and in part he has let it go.

  • Well um, you're wrong. He can't handle even the early Kamelot material live anymore.

  • "Well um, you're wrong. He can't handle even the early Kamelot material live anymore."

How about a video of Roy struggling with one such song to prove your point?

  • I myself am a singer...I know how voices work..I believe he has lost the upper part of his range partly from lack of use...and from age. However I think personally he has found himself as a vocalist and performer in this past few years...and i prefer the deeper richer tone of the more recent Khan.

  • they shouldnt really get back together because Roy is so much better in Kamelot as he outs so much more emotion in his performance! But i shouldn't be so critical as this was his first band but the move to Kamelot was certainly better for his career and the bands success! thye're huge now! i <3 roy khan! he rocks!!!!thank god he got rid of his dodgy shirts, kept them done up! and also got rid og his dodgy bandanas!!!!

  • This band is so powerful!!! Will they ever reunite?

  • Roy Khan rocks but maybe they should add one more guitar for better sound

  • great!!

  • perfect composition, the whole album has a very good sound

and live its also excellent.tore great guitarist(rhythm and solo)

  • i <3 roy kahn

  • lol khan rocks lost lil of his range in camelot but i liek him better in camelot he suits them just fine:)

  • i dont think that he lost any of his range in kamelot...he is older you know aswel!!!!1

  • holy shit...when's this from?

  • 1993

  • one of the best voices i have ever heard.excellent live performance.maybe better than studio

  • My favorite Conception tune ~

  • This band kicks ass!! Tore Ostby is great guitar player!

  • This is one of my fav songs ever... and live is even better than the studio one! That's cause the guitars are heavier and Roy sings godly.
