@michaelf170 you don't want the maytags today, they are built just as cheesy as whirlpools unfortunately cause whirlpool now owns them :( I want the maytag we bought in 1993 when we built our house that was the best we had. We just bought a new Speed Queen AWN432 and so far I highly recommend it, good ol' made in the USA quality with a unmatched warranty check it out :)
@cumminsturbofan101 , I agree. The salesman at Best Buy said, "Oh No, Maytag washers are still made by Maytag." I don't know if he was just ignorant or evil trying to lie to me like that. I know better. But yeah, unfortunately the Maytag washers are just as cheesy as the Whirlpool's now, cause they sold out to Whirlpool a few years ago.
Although I am a Whirlpool fan, I do like this washer, it was good when Maytag updated the washer to the faster agitation strokes, and I have used this exact type of washer in a laundromat and it cleans VERY well! Sometimes I wonder if they went a little with Whirlpool's design, I only say that because the water inlet was moved directly to the back and looks very similar.
I would never buy any other machine than a Maytag. Mine are oh, 14 years old, never needed servicing and will probably out live me at the age of 53. I hear horror stories about the front loaders so I'm sticking with my old trusted top loader Maytag!
@lakeseminole my washer is also 14 years old only problem it keeps moving around the laundry room every time i tight the bottom feet they come loose and it keeps denting my dryer ironicly its a mayTAG .i have the same exact washer almost this looks to be more advanced version of it.i will only use top loaders because if you forget something you can always add
@gokartbuyer You can always add to a front loader too. You just hit the start slash pause button and the door unlocks and you can throw in something you forgot. Top Loaders are cheaper to purchase, but they cost more in water in the long run.
@grawey77 what about the water in the drum? does it get drained and has to be replenished? i constantly am forgeting things and lifting a lid and adding is much more of a convenice, than stopping a whole load.
@gokartbuyer Front Loaders use very little water in comparison to top loaders. The water in the drum does not rise up past the rubber seal on the door bottom in a front loader. When you hit pause on most they stop instantly and unlock the door (no water drainage), then you close the door and hit start and the load resumes. The turning action throws the clothes into the small pool of soapy water at the bottom of the tub. You also use less detergent because you use less water.
@grawey77 ohhhh ,i get it. i have never had a front loader before . i use it till` it don`t work no more! i am shocked the transmission hasn`t gone out on mine yet .beat the hell out of it, it just keeps on going.
I wish I still had this model....My mom always crammed ours full then it finally tore up....That maytag of ours suffered 10 years of it...Them things are practically indestructible!! I love the rollover, I do my own laundry now....I am 14. But I like to do it my way.....My mom still packs our front loader...Very bad results.
These were the last good strong maytags they ever built, that is the best rollover action i have ever seen! hope it doesn't shred the clothes

My 29 year old Maytag washer just died. I'm still mourning and can't begin to replace that relationship yet.

@ghastind Unless you placed in some DIY TLC. :) It can't possibly be dead yet!

@Sharkie626 , New flash, Maytags are nothing but cosmetically engineered Whirlpools. Whirlpool bought them a few years ago

@SpazChat I know that, but this machine was made before they bought them over.

@gokartbuyer The older maytag washers last a long time, but now since they are made by whirlpool who knows.
