  • I agree with little brother, the other Reep radio actor sounds like an old woman. I've actually seen the movie by now of course, so I know that Izzard didn't put on a "mouse voice" and I'm actually pretty glad he didn't. His voice is slightly high pitched any way and it suited Reep just fine.

  • if anybody thinks that they're the biggest Narnia fan you're wrong cuz i am and i will come through my computer and snap your neck like a twig...

  • Hah just got it, Gpuddle- Puddleglum.

  • yeah, on NarniaWeb I am "glumPuddle."

  • lol, you have way more patience with your little brother than i have with mine. lol hes VERY cute! im also happy that they FINALLY casted reepicheep!

  • Hey gP! Thanks for this new video. I think his voice will be perfect for Reep. When I heard him , I was like, "Wow! That's Reepicheep!" Pretty exciting! I'm glad to see your brother is in this video; he is so cute and funny! Ttyl.....Aravis

  • Who the heck is reepicheep?Oh yeah, he's the mouse. I get him mixed up with the badger for some reason......Oh wait never mind whatever......

  • I forgive you. ;)

  • *LOL* Yep. Your Awesome!!!

  • Badger is Truffelhunter :D

  • I'm excited too GP! He sounds great.

  • I absolutly hate this casting announcement because I was familiar with Eddie Izzard and how crude his "humor" is. Also, being a Beatles fan, he was the over the top, weird character Mr. Kite in the new "Across the Universe" movie.

To give an idea about what this is like to me, it would be like Robin Williams getting the part, except RW's humor is cleaner.

  • You obviously haven't seen some of robin's earlier HBO specials...the man can get filthy! And frankly, compared to most of today's comedians, you have to admit that eddie is pretty tame.

  • I was just giving an example of what this casting announcement would be like for someone unfamiliar with Eddie Izzard. I admit I'm not familiar with all of Robin William's stuff but to call E.I.'s routine's tame is an extreme understatement. I don't think dressing in drag "because it's funny" and dropping F-bombs is tame, but that's just me.

  • I'm not understanding how this is relevant at all. Reep isn't supposed to be a comedic character necessarily, so why does it matter if Izzard is a good comedian or not? He has a great voice, and that's what counts.

  • It wouldn't be like that at all, because Robin Williams' voice probably wouldn't be good for Reep, so I would not like that choice.

  • That's my point exactly! RW wouldn't be good for the same reasons as Eddie Izzard. Because whenever I heard EI's voice, I can only think of his crude humor. That's why I used RW as an example, it has nothing to do with their comedic routines, I was comparing their vulgarity.

Also as far as EI's voice is concerned I think it sounds terribly sarcastic and that is NOT Reep at all.

  • Still not understanding the logic here.

Of course he's going to sound sarcastic when he's doing a comedy routine. But what makes you think Adamson will direct him to sound sarcastic as Reep?

And, RW wouldn't make a good Reep because his voice does not sound like Reepicheep. Izzard's voice does sound like a good Reepicheep, for the reasons I gave in the video. Just the right pitch.

  • I agree with your brother. Reepicheep in the radio drama sounded too much like a woman. I found it quite distracting. Reepicheep! Of all people...or should I say mice! ;-)

I would prefer that they had gone with a high pitched males voice for the Focus on the Family edition.

I suppose Izzard isn't a bad choice. In fact, he may work quite well.

  • It was a high pitched male's voice in FotF. ;)

  • Are you sure? He sounded a WHOLE lot like a woman to me.

  • Yep, Reep was played by Robert Benfield in the FotF dramas.

  • Oops! Well sorry Mr. Benfield.

  • I always imagined reepicheep as a don quixote, i don't know if izzard could pull it off. hopefully!

  • That was so funny when you said, "My honor is my own," in a very high voice. I just about died with laughter. I am very excited about this movie, but Reep`s voice is not what I had in mind. It`s alright, though. And I hope they dont go overboard with his color because I think one of the important things is to have him be the color brown. I wish that could be the way it is.

  • Well, we haven't heard him as Reep yet. I have only heard him as a comedian. I'm sure he'll have a totally different tone of voice. What that tone will be will be up to Andrew Adamson. Just saying, don't just picture Reepicheep telling jokes, haha.

His voice isn't too deep and it isn't too low. And I can see him doing a good job with valiant lines like "Hurrah! Let them come! All I ask is that the King will put me and my people in the front."

  • Yeah, you`re right. I have now seen some more videos of him and I can kinda picture it now. I`m thinking that they chose the right man. I`m feeling better now! And I never really picture Reep telling jokes ;)

  • HAHAHA. "Matthias from Redwall!"

    Eddie sounds....good!

  • Haha, yeah I really like all the voices in the Redwall unabridged audio drama.

  • I was glad to hear Reepicheep described as "pretty sweet" by some one who is apparently a fan through the movies rather than the books, because a cavalier mouse might come off as ridiculous to those not expecting him... and apparently he didn't! So that speaks well of the filmmakers' represententation of Reep... unless this reviewer happens to be a sucker for the over-the-top Legolas action. I guess there's no way to really know.

  • 7:25 I think the word you're looking for is "flail," though you might argue it's a mace-tipped flail. ^_^

  • Excellent glummy! Very funny.

  • HAHAHA "why does lucy look japanese?" wow. eddie izzard, im so excited, hes pretty durn cool. but reepicheep is amazing. and you need more faith. if you go into the movie with so many doubts, then you're screwed.

  • I'm a realist. I try to see things exactly as they are.

And, my experience is that when people go into a movie with low expectations, they almost always like the movie because it's so much more than what they expected.

    That's not what I'm doing though. I'm a realist.

  • hm, i guess thats true. but i also think you will like the movie even less than you might if you didnt look at every single thing that might go wrong. i love your british accent though

  • Perhaps. But that's no fun. ;)

  • you know whats also fun? pattertwig. pattertwig is the best ADD squirrel EVER.

  • Yea!! Reepicheep has come at last! ^^

  • I am really liking Eddie as Reep. His voice quality is very much how I would imagine Reep's. And I love how you have suddenly become a duo with your brother!!

  • Finally now if we could just see reepicheap.

  • At least it isn't Antonio Banderas... Or Mandy Patinkin... Or Cary Elwes... People you'd expect. We'll see...
