I don;t know what I'm more shocked at. The fact that someone actually booked this or the fact that whoever the booker pitched this to said "yeah let's roll with that".  Today the fans would be screaming "FIRE RUSSO" at a fiasco like this.

@flyabusa They were probably lighting up BBS's everywhere with "GOD LET THIS ORGANIZATION JUST DIE" in 1990. I'm sure the Wrestling Observer Newsletter wasn't too keen on what they were doing that year, either. Everything about AWA in the 1990s was just fucking awful. Unfortunately ESPN classic loves to show 1990 episodes all the time.

@SashaNein The gimmick matches in the 1990s were awful. But also I felt the AWA's MAJOR weakness in the late 1980s and early 1990s was you had some Ultra Cool and Ultra talented heels, and no one of their caliber on the babyface side. Greg Gagne and his anorexic self, over the hill Wahoo McDaniel, Guys like The Trooper and The Top Guns who were just too bland and uncharismatic to get over. Contrast that with strong heels like Hennig, Zybszko, Badd Company, Destruction Crew, etc.
