I attached Paper Brads to the Tuning Potentiometer on the Back, so I can Decrease the Pitch through Touch, sort of like a Whammy Bar. I Pitched it down pretty significantly when I was making the Video... because the Higher the Pitch... the less "Grindey" it sounds, and when using a talkbox... the more rough the tone is... the better it's going to sound.

I made one almost exactly like this before. Mine was even easier though. Instead of using a plunger I mounted the speaker face down in an old shower head and since it was a shower head it already had a plastic hose connected to it. The trick to good output is to get the best seal where the speaker is mounted so all the sound goes through the hose. Also I find that mid-rage tons work the best. These small speakers can't handle the low bass and really high highs.

Great idea, Just wantd to give u a cple of friendly fire tips, When making a tutorial, u should be a little more specific when explaining how u are putting things together, also closer shots of what u are doing, or some overhead shots too, also, theres people out there that don't know a whole lot about keyboards, or PC speakers, but know enough to know that the talkbox would be fun to build. So explaining where u plug in on the keyboard, things like that would be helpful when buildng talkbox

Heres a better idea, put the speaker inside the original speaker box and hook up the RUBBER tube to that? You ductape the opening where the speaker used to be shut so that will not be a problem.

This will make it same as original but now with a hose sticking out of it. 1 compact unit.

Just built mine today. A couple adjustments I made:

1. I used the secondary speaker of the computer speaker pair. This way I could skip the whole soldering step because the speaker wire is longer and also covered.

2. I cut a small notch on the end cap edge. Slightly large enough to fit the wire and keep it from getting pinched.

I like it but seems a lot quieter than I expected.

I just wanna vouch for this talkbox here. It works. I made one just like this, except the plunger didn't seal it so great so I just wound up using a ton of duct tape anyway. Some sound still leaks through it, but I'll live.

Well worth the effort though. I celebrated by playing "Stronger" on it for like an hour.

keep your tongue against the bottom of your mouth and experiment. if your blotting out the noise, you either have the tube too far into your mouth, or you stick your tongue out while you do it.

@MrWant2Know the airtightness assures that the sound will only go through the tube. Sound is the vibration of molecules, be it soild, liquid or air. Sound travels a lot better through air than something rubber like a toilet plunger. Being airtight, the only airflow is through the tube, and, because sound travels better through air, the majority of the sound will go up the tube to your mouth. Otherwise the sound would escape through air leaks at the plunger itself and not make it to your mouth.

well, if you can find a plunger head and a plunge cap that's 8 inches, you can use your speaker. but i don't think you could. the biggest i could find was four inches.

and the tube, it doesn't matter how big it is, but if its' too big, it'll be kinda hard to fit in your mouth.

The width of the tube matters a bit, and so does the length. Since this is a very low power sound output the shorter the tube, the more sound you're going to get... Also, the wider the tube, the louder the sound will be, but if it's too wide your mouth will not be able to shape the sound very well.
