@MrOwenSpendlove Im not,he took 10 minutes longer to do it than it should have. These cookie cutter OTR guys cant back up for shit. I'm a P&D driver and backing is more than half my day so I speak with some authority.
Knight is one of the biggest companys around, and I htink it is the biggest. Their trucks are very good and do not wreck as much as my fathers does. My father drives in J.F Freight.
I know on some vehicles, turning the wheels while stationary is virtually guaranteed to destroy the power steering in very short time. Although, these trucks are better engineered than that stuff, so it might not be an issue.
I was tought different. You need to turn your steers while your truck is still sometime so you won't loose space. If you miss judge it while you are moving it will cause you to pull up to much.
A true professional NEVER turns his steers while a vehicle still. Grinding rubber is costly. Slight motion during steering alleviates such excess wear.
I know that (dad's own a VN780...) but it doesn't means that Volvos roll out the factory with Volvo engines. Macks usually use their owns but we know many VN owners around who opted for their D16 and got plenty of troubles... not to mention they weren't easy on fuel as described in litterature. Dad went for a Cummins ISX 535 and is very satisfied with it. The one in the clip sounds like a Volvo but I may be totally wrong. Computer speakers...
for me, i'd like it on the driver's side too. i just got my class B. at the school i went to, the straight trucks were kenworth T300's. they had spot mirrors on the fenders. they sure helped me when i was making turns. i'm planning on going for class A this summer.
beautifull, beautifull truck :D i live in the netherlands and y neighbour is a own driver and has this truck, have been with him on the road with that truck but man, what a space and what a comfort :D ggreat truck
I've been with Knight for 3 years and do alright with them. I also agree with some of the negative comments on here. Some people really do get shafted. Some of the dispatchers are great people who care about their drivers. Others are horrible HORRIBLE human beings that really do detest truck drivers. Just walk into any Knight terminal. You'll suddenly know what it might have felt like to be a black man in 1950's Memphis. I am white btw
having submitted an app with Knight Transportation and having been ignored by their Sparks, NV terminal is a very clear warning to stay away from Knight altogether. They are really disorganized in their hiring and who knows what other crap I would've found had I worked for them anyway.
Yea that sucks. Your not missing much though. Trucking altogether sucks and nobody really gives a shit about anything or anyone. I fucked up once, load shifted and pretty much got destroyed. They never even so much as wrote me up, just told me to head on back to the shipper and gave me another load. Other drivers get fired for wearing flip flops. This is because of all the fucking BS that is trucking that I somehow just blow off. It's an aquired taste that you get or don't get. Good luck to you
I got what I wanted from the industry before throwing in the towel. After living where I've been locally since 2007, I'm looking to attend college again and pick up where I left of in my education. So just taking the steps to get everything in order, but more than likely, I'm a few years off from an actual degree just returning to school at night and all. I fucked up a lot of times with Swift to and they still kept me on their payroll for over two years. MVR clean, DAC is not :(
another funny one was entering into Ohio from Indiana and a trucker flies by my Swift truck. Seconds later, there is an Ohio state trooper right on that trucker's ass. Very funny moment. I've had my close ones, but luckily never hit another vehicle or rolled/totaled the truck and trailer in my 2+years xp. so knock on wood there. As I tell any fellow trucker, be safe and yes the industry is an acquired taste with a lot of BS, but nice travel ops to say the least. Canada is a + if u can do it
funny story about drivers wearing flip flops, try standing barefoot sometime in front of an Indiana State trooper. I was honest with him as I told him I had a bad case of athletes foot and was letting my feet air out. Just didn't tell him I was driving the truck like that. He pulled me over for speeding and actually I pointed out to him he had the wrong driver cause if I were speeding, then that means Swift trucks were doing 70 in the fast lane. No write up or even a DOT inspection :)
thats not a phoenix truck. phoenix trucks start 102. knight is not the company they used to be. its almost like they try to see just how bad they can fuck you over and make you sit with no load. i'm getting out as soon as the economy gets better and Lord please let it be soon
I use to love working for knight. I was out of the Olive Branch, MS Terminal. I left them because they failed to fulfill there promise about letting me be with my son on halloween. I wanted to take him trick or treating...but my ass dispatcher screwed me over..So that is the main reason why I left.
Pretty trucks and a great employee retention program...all the pinheads are trained to kiss your ass and bullshit you into believing the miles will get better while telling you everyone else is having problems finding freight too...the miles are out there...but not at knight
Like a boss, I'm thinkin about goin with knight once I finish my contract with shitty CRST.... so knight runs 8spd volvos I take it?

@patentagosse
Volvo makes their own engines. Plants are located in Sweden and Hagerstown USA.
They also owns Mack Trucks , who uses the same engines.

why is that some trucking companies don't even put mounted spot mirrors on the driver's side?
dannyW900 2 years ago
I dont think they are really necesary, passenger side is a MUST. I'm sure they do help a little.
