  • i like it at about 9 o' clock blend ...

  • And by the way... I audited these samples through my Genelec studio monitors, and I'm a sound engineer... so I do know about mono, stereo and the danger of judging audio stuff using crappy computer speakers... stills sounds crap to me, except for the bluegrass sample.

  • What's wrong with the sound? Whenever the Fishman is turned on in this video, esp. playing the steel string, it sounds to me like the guitar is under water. Artefacts? I can't believe it would actually sound like this, no one would buy it...

  • @fishmanacoustic Does this work with a sound hole pickup?

  • I have one and it really helps my classical guitar have a natural mic'ed sound ... my taylor 214 has an lr baggs m1a and I play it straight through and dont use the aura ...IMHO it just gives you a lot of options when you have none left ... Whoever designed the knobs needs to be slapped cause you cant see your settings from more than 6 inches away leaning over past he pedal .. i like it tho

  • bought one this wk. the worst thing is when you`re playing live and want to change the aura percentage, you cant see the markings on the knob..... frustrating!!!!

  • @footstomper1 Easy fix, go get some glow in the dark paint from a hobby store and put a dab on the notch on the knob. Silly knob design, but no big deal.

  • could one use this pedal also with the magnetic soundhole pickups? or would it not be advisable? seems it is more tailored towards undersaddle pickups?

  • I had a feeling its quality of guitar itself that produce excellent sounds.

  • I agree with the 2 people below. The pickup sounds better without the aura spectrum throughout most of the demonstration!!!

  • To my ears most of the examples sounded better with the aura off!

  • wow thats totally a hit or miss pedal. sounded like crap on everything except the first image on the first sample for the bluegrass.

  • OM42 OMFG

  • This is borderline IMHO. If you happen to listen to this on a mono device like an iPad, you will see why. Frankly I can find many more interesting ways to add something. Also if you aren't using a Fishman pickup it's not much of a match. I was trying to use the anti-feedback for an oud: not much luck, either. A classy-looking unit, a great way for tweaks with expensive acoustic guitars to spend some money.

  • @FernandRaynaud ... because Lord knows... listening to high-end audio on low-end audio devices is THE way to judge capability. Like.... DUH!!! (/end sarcasm here).

And, uh... the Aura is a "mono" device; it outputs mono (1-channel) audio. So why mention "if you listen to it on a mono device..."? It IS mono audio, ready for amplification by, you guessed it, mono devices. If it were stereo, played on a mono device... possibly it might not sound "right".

    So your argument was... what?

  • Nice! Is there an image for the Carvin Craig Chaquico or similar?

  • This guitar sound better without aura, its true.

  • He starts playing at 4:38.

  • whats does artifacts mean?, in a musical sense of course...

  • @mojoefly it's like the side effects of using an equipment or software which changes the caracter of the sound source. THe more you use it, more the sound is "crapped".

  • Would this unit sound good with a piezo pickup built into an electric guitar?

  • Will this unit sound good with a piezo pickup installed into an electric guitar?

  • Hey, I'm really interested in this, but I wanna know: does this pedal function as an interface for recording on a MacBook Pro via USB?

  • @Sjjags No sorry.

  • Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can help. I'm either gonna buy the Lr Baggs Venue Di or The Fishman Aura shown here. The thing thats throwing me off the aura is, does it not have a boost switch to give you extra volume when you swap from strummin to picking?. The aura pedal seems like it would be more practical in studio then on stage. Also how are these images generated are they analog or digital. Its seems they are basically just effects....

  • @jackofthediamonds Hi There. This video was not posted by Fishman Acoustic Amplification. We haven't noticed your post. Aura Imaging is created in the analog world with real mics and real instruments. The sounds captured are turned into digital algorhythms and housed in the ASDI. Feel free to contact us on Facebook or the Fishman YouTube channel for more info. Thanks.

  • just play it already

  • I like the guitar pickup by itself better!

  • anyone know how this thing sounds with a mandolin using a LR Baggs radius pickup microphone?

  • @Medium0Rare There is an image for a Breedlove mandolin in their sound image library. I don't know if it comes loaded in the unit or if you'd need to load it yourself.

  • well after much debate I picked up one of these pedals to use on my live setup. I play seperate weekly gigs on nylon string and on acoustic guitars. i have a Manuel Ramirez CE model with LR Baggs under saddle and a Taylor 212 with an LR Baggs M1. Gotta say this pedal is pricey but is well worth it if you use it. Its a subtle effect and is not gonna fix your playing but rather it will add a natural mic'ed live tone to your guitar. closest nearest option is just to live mic your guitar.

  • on the first martin showed it didn't work much

it seems like it works more on the blue grass side and instruments

  • It's doesn't make it sound natural and quiet...it makes a buzzing sound and a grounded sound...compaired to my LR Baggs Venue DI it doesn't make any extra sound

  • Im still skeptical of this whole imaging thing, it gives me the impression of editing your sound or adding FX to it rather than getting a pure acoustic tone.

  • @THESlvrmn This really does make it sound more natural and pure plugged in.

  • @THESlvrmn But if it sounds good, does it really matter? It's not a bad option for someone that can't afford a top of the line guitar and mic

  • @THESlvrmn What Fishman does is take guitars into the studio and put a mic in front of them. Then, they take the cheezy piezo output and the real mic output signals into a computer that figures out the difference between them. When you play through the Aura, it takes your piezo output & changes it to "look" like the real mic output. It's not modelling, but it is signal processing. The idea is to make your piezo guitar sound like it would from a studio mic.

  • how much is this pedal and were could i find it?

  • if your looking for reverb buya pedal or run your acoustic through a fender acoustasonic. if your worried about micing it the acoustasonic has an xlr outout that you can run to the board the combo of the amp and aura is insane :)

  • This company's recording studio and headquarters is 2 miles from my house.

  • we're so impressed

  • Sounds really amazing & clean with no artifacts! But I can't believe Fishman creates a cool unit like this with compression & anti-feedback & leaves out reverb. Every acoustic player needs some reverb when you can't rely on the effects-illiterate guy running the board who can dry you out in a hurry.

  • So true

  • @GuitarScratchRemover

I am waiting for my spectrum di to arrive at the store. My next purchase will be a strymon Blue Sky Reveb pedal check it out i promise you will be glad you did.

  • @GuitarScratchRemover

Fishman is abut amplifing the guitar as it sounds and reverb is a tweak so thats why...

  • @83cajht Not strictly true, as they have now released a chorus, reverb and delay stomp boxes seperately. I would certainly love to see an all in one from them including all of these effects, but I expect they stand to make a lot more money selling them as individual components... They know they have a great product!!

  • @richmaya

not saying they only goning too make true sounding stuff...and i was talking about the Fishman Aura Spectrum....but just my opinion...but great they have steped up and started making other pedals

  • @GuitarScratchRemover Turning the "blend" all the way to the wet signal should give you some reverb; the pedal is designed to simulate an acoustic guitar being miced, so there should be some natural reverb of the "room" that the image is using.

  • You're already starting with a good pickup sound.

I wonder how it would sound with my Fishman Classic 4?

  • Great pedal but I still can't understand why they don't include effects. The Yamaha AG Stomp does.

  • there are no weissenborn sound image ?

  • @arcolerh Not at this time

  • can you use it with an electric guitar with piezo.?? make it sound like a nylon string, or jumbo or any of the images??

  • @MassimoPetrucci I have the older Aura & have found a couple of images that work great with the GraphTech Ghost saddles in my Peavey Imapct Milano (mahogany body/flame maple top, tailpiece is blocked).

  • @MassimoPetrucci Hi, this video was not posted by Fishman Acoustics YouTube channel but, we'd like to respond to your question. Some have had success with piezo equipped electric guitars. The ASDI was invented with the intention of making your "acoustic" sound as if it were "miced". Fishman did not intend to model other acoustics but to match your acoustic sound and represent your instrument as closely as possible. Thanks.

  • Thank you for coming out with this after I got the Fishman Aura, Delay, Chorus, and Radial JDI.

That's about $1000. Thanks Fishman for making me waste all that money.
