Is the sheet music available to by? I would absolutely love to play this as I play both flute and oboe. You're very talented, the instruments blend amazingly.
Wizard Walk? Do you play all the instruments you write for? I play both the oboe and the flute and don't think I could ever compose something this beautiful.
@DaltonMunnal Thanks! I guess that's the advantage of living in the computer age -- you can learn to compose by just clicking notes into a program without having to ever touch an instrument. I know some music theory, but have much to learn...
I almost teared up when I first heard this (I play oboe). is there any possible way I could get the sheet music to this? Absolutely astounding, I think it is my favorite piece of music I have heard in my life, honesly. Incredible work!
@DoorMatt1995 Most of them I just give away for free, but some of my latest are for sale on CD Baby and Amazon MP3. :-) (I'm waiting for iTunes to get them up too, they take forever!)
Yeah, there may very well be some Lord of the Rings influence in there; I love that soundtrack.
The harp's the Chromatic Harp 1 from GPO, but its sound heavily relies on reverb settings, since that what makes the notes blend so well I think. It took me a while to get reverb settings I was pleased with...
Thanks! Though I do use the balls and lines for almost everything, I think it comes out particularly well with music like this. Thanks again for the software!
great, loved it. I still like the first one. But now that you have three its almost like movements. Im waiting to see if you do an entire band kinda thing, or a marching piece. That would be interesting.
I can tell you that marching pieces rely on, in order:
Bass
Trumpet (almost always 2 parts)
Percussion.
The other parts are just "enhancement" on to the brass, since a flute is very hard to hear from the field. If, however you need a woodwind sound, clarinet or piccolo are the main choices.
fluteness!

Would you ever consider starting an instrument or recording live instruments? I would be honored to do a solo or anything actually.

@TheInstrumentalist99 Thanks! I unfortunately can't play any instruments at all really... I just use my computer

@WizardWalk .....You don't play any instruments!?

@DaltonMunnal I can punch out melodies on a keyboard but that's about it
WizardWalk 8 months ago
@WizardWalk How much music theory do you know? My mind is blown at the concept of being able to write this stuff without playing an instrument.

so that's what an oboe should sound like? Being in high school all of the oboe playing I've heard sounds like a dying goose

Have you ever thought of selling your songs as Mp3s off your website? I would probably buy them that way rather than a CD.

I love your stuff! Yes please post the sheet music to this arrangement.
I wonder, do you think the oboe part could be played on ( transposed for ) cello?
Just an idea.

Hi!
Is this based off a Hymn? It sounds familiar. I would also like to try it for church sometime. ^___^
Rodier1128 3 years ago
It's not based on anything, hope it doesn't sound too similar to anything already in existence :-)
WizardWalk 3 years ago
it sounds kinda church-ey in some places. All of the trios sound very minstrel (or Irish)
alsooo, anything new coming out soon? Im dying to play a new song by you. Write something fun for flute ^_^
Rodier1128 3 years ago
really not sure when I'll have something new out... been indulging my other interest of trying to write literature lately :-/
WizardWalk 3 years ago
Good one, but try with more space between sounds for flute and oboe. Beauty lies in their sound, do not change it so often. Keep on, Wizard!
Micidami 3 years ago
Thanks! I'm not quite sure what you mean by "more space between sounds for flute and oboe"?
WizardWalk 3 years ago
I think they mean space between chords.
Rodier1128 3 years ago
i love this peace... i also play the oboe and all of these peices inspire me to play even better

I was delighted to see you made another Trio piece. I love the other two and this one too. Really wonderful works of art. Well done.
I'll enjoy this one for a while now and hopefully you'll make another in the future!

i hear some inspiration from lord of the rings going on there!

I like the way this works with the balls and lines display, especially the arc of the harp arpeggios.
