Superb track and a title that makes you think about! I'm French and I do love the Manic Street Preachers! Mr Wire, Moore and Bradfield, come to France! You have fans!

Oh come on it sound's so much like Disarm by the Smashing Pumpkin's! i meant the guitar's and overall melody. Begining of song would suit elton's vocal range too .
What's the title about? English is not my first language, so I don't get what "this joke sport severed" actually means.
Apart from that, superb. The strings, JDB's singing... and the lyrics are sheer poetry. "Jealousy sows rejection with a kiss / In silken palms that tear bone from skin"
These are probably some of Richey's finest words, and it sounds like one of the most introspective on the album. Given the time they were written it's sad, though.
I think this is the best song on the album. A haunting, poignant melody . I prefer JDB's vocal style here compared to his more shouty, strident approach. Think the album is quite good, a bit patchy though. 7 outta 10. This song is an 8.5! So precise ha ha..
Well, i'm a fussy faddy ...although if i told you that the new Simple Minds album was excellent i have this gut feeling you would sneer at that. ha ha ...thing is...it is!!!
James Dean Bradfield actually listened to a lot of Simple Minds before making The Holy Bible along with this album, definitely Simple Minds seem more respectable. I think this is an amazing song too but love the shouting songs too, he's so good at both
you realy can't be as dumb as you sound?..anything in life rely's on sales even in a communist country. if you stole a c.d. inside a store, you'd be arrested but suddenly it's fine online. the music on youtube and the manics doing these several performances is like taster samples. if you like the samples you considerer buying more
it's not 1968 anymore (you've probably only heard of it off your grandparents) the worlds moved on and taken the best bits with it..and for some reason that doesn't include stealing music
This album is going to be one of the greatest albums this decade, shows how Richeys words can make beautiful music, if only he could of held on for a little bit longer :(
Journalists will already have a copy, the record company sends them out a few weeks before the release so the journalists can review it. Sometimes journalists choose to share their music with friends or internetters.
That breakdown in the middle... I lack words and that doesn't happen to me often.

Amazing beautiful song, and guys I would stop trying to work out what it means because the only person who knows its true meaning is Richey

My interpretation is that Richey doesn't see the the whole deal with Love.
It's about trying to live with an emotional relationship.
Love IS a joke sport.
(don't gimme flak if ya disagree)

I love the way this song builds, esp when the string section kicks in. Fantastic. Think this is my favourite on the album.
