I love to see more jumping walkers! :3 My horse Gracie is a tennesse walker and we jump bareback. It's awesome to see others cause I am the only one who can jump her, and there's no other walkers except my friend's but Zara is a punk. Lol thanks for the video
Some of them have a natural ability to trot or are more inclined to it, it's very easy to teach them different cues for trotting and gaiting. I have an American Walking Pony, the breed is different from the TWH but similar concept they are bred to Trot and Gait. The versatility of both the TWH and American Walking Pony are only as limited as their human's imagination.
wow amazing... im converting my walking horse to racing... and then want to jump a walker...
just wondering... why buy a walker and teach them to trot and jump when you could buy a horse who already trots?? and do they really have to trott could they not gait btween jumps?
not being rude... HONESTLY asking becuase ur one o f the only people ive SEEN do this w/ their horse
@swNapoleon16 I wanted to start to jump and Mom Looked at me said I had to work with the horses I had. If you look at his Web page it explains how wink came to jump
@jumpevenhigher Ahhhh well I understand. I got 2 horses and I can't afford to get a new one so I have to train and make due with what I have.... Well he looks great and a wonderful
@swNapoleon16 I have a walker who jumps too, there's a ton of people who do, despite what the experts say "Theyre not jumping horses!" <-- They are if they want to be!
@NoHorseShouldSuffer i know!!! i personally think they would be great for it! just break 'em outta their natural gait.... my horses grandpa(pure TWH) was nearly 17 hands! thats a perfect size jumper!
@swNapoleon16 Exactly! my neighbor had a colt that was a Tennesse Walker x American Saddlebred, and he'd go full speed around the paddock and fly over the ditch like nothing.
Their long stride, sure footedness, swift gaits and willingness makes a perfect jumping horse, I don't see why more people aren't jumping them
It's nice to see a TW horse being ridden in a natural and non saddleseat way. They are interesting horses. Very solid, unigue and all suffering. Good for you. How about doing some dressage with him?
Nice job at tri-state. I think you should do some rated shows...show him off. Our mindset about what makes a hunter needs to change. Well done and keep up the good work.

The power of the TW. People tell me they don't jump, ha! I show them wrong with my mares and you do as well! Good job with him, he is gorgeous.

after teaching him to trot, will he still gait (running walk) for you?
Calicat1994 2 years ago
Yes!! His gaiting actually improved after learning to trot... :)

Awesome job with your walker! I can't get our MFT to trot... but he has started cantering jumps and he's quite athletic.

is he trotting or pacing?
HorseReport 3 years ago
He is trotting in most of the pictures - you can see the diagonal legs moving, except at 1:31 he is doing a running walk
