  • The word Ignorant was created for harpozzz

  • Great video, a bit strange that the "America" cover is in the video instead of "Bitter Tears" though.

  • This record album also has Ballad of Ira Hayes, another haunting song

  • @OkieDokie306 Both of them are great tracks, I must agree.

  • Wonderful...thanks ! :)

  • The album that this came from was always my favorite of all the Johnny Cash albums my daddy bought and then gave to me becauce I was the one who became the Johnny Cash nut in our house *thumbsup* JR Cash

  • We were brought up on Johnny Cash - my dad played him endlessly - this comes from an album called Bitter Tears - many more beautiful songs on it.

  • How much longer will the grass grow? Native poeple I am white and I am thoroughly sorry! Johnny thank you for your tribute to the greatest people this land has ever known!

  • @generationaluv my thoughts too word for word. My Grandfather was Cherokee

  • @bassingal44 :) and peace and love to U!!!

  • So few people can reduce me to tears, but Johnny's done it so many times.

  • johnny cash one of the best. how many great songs did he leave us to think about? god rest you johnny n see you soon x

  • Love the sound of ladies harmonizing in the background?... guessing the Carter family, Johnny being married to June...and of course, I love the melody and lyrics. I don't recall the title of the album, but thanks to my late brother I have it safely tucked away in a box somewhere. What a great song!...what a great arrangement!!...Thank you 'livethedukewayne' for this wonderful post...you & the tune deserve many more "look-sees", but we are few who know the breadth of JC's music...Tunesmith

  • Beautiful song

I love the lovely Artwork by Willow

  • I can't find a definitive reference for the origin of the phrase "talking leaves." I read once that certain natives had no other way to describe language than "talking," and no other way to describe paper than "leaves," and this was their concept when they noticed Europeans writing and later reading what others had written. I also read that it was cynical, a reference to how white men's words dried up and blew away like leaves when they changed their minds. Anyone know something specific?

  • Two thing I am pride of Johnny Cash and my Native blood

  • how come jr never mentions tecumseh in any of these songs. Did a sweat about 15 years back, would love to do one again just dont know where to ?

  • I heard this as a young child glad to have found i! Beautiful

  • yeha noha

  • Thanks... I heard a reference to the "talking leaves" on a video showing Johnny and June Carter and Pete Seeger together. I was in a USN detention barracks waiting on a military court when I first heard "Folsom". The train ran past the barracks down to Chicago several times a day. I like Johhny Cash so very much, and this just makes me appreciate him so much more. Peace...

  • You're art is beautifull. Not many caputer mening to ther art but you have!

  • so by talking leaves he is talking about a written language on paper

  • wow! - music to make you think, not "entertainment" chosen by 12 year olds and multinationals- what planet did this come from?

  • @harpozzz I gave you a 'green thumbs up' but could not resist also commenting about your comment. You're 'a kick and a half' Dude!...Love it...Tunesmith

  • @harpozzz A planet called country music of the 60s.

  • Beautiful song

  • Johnny makes the story come to life and the Carter Family makes it beautiful

  • all good all good
