I found this narrative to be extraordinarily pertinent and expressive.
Your story illuminates a health care system that is actively hostile to patients' needs - unless they have considerable wealth. We must do better than this.
My 19 year old daughter has Crohn's Disease -- another difficult diagnosis. Though she was extremely ill for several months and in and out the hospital seven times in six months, she was fortunate to get a correct diagnosis after about four months.
As insurance goes, my insurance company was all right. I do, of course owe twenty percent of the costs of services but, at least, after a certain point, they notified the hospital and whoever else that I could not be charged further out of pocket expenses and that I was exempt from co-pays for six months.
At least, there was some reprieve. During the time when she was very, very sick, it was extremely frustrating not having a diagnosis. You get to the point that you want to scream at the doctor, "IT'S CROHN'S DISEASE, JACKASS!! MAKE THE FRICKIN' DIAGNOSIS!! HER GUTS ARE KILLING HER!!"
Had to try many medicines before we got to the big gun -- Remicade -- after a thirty pound weight loss to the point that she looked like a skeleton and was being fed by TPN -- a port.
By then, she was considered to have probable Crohn's but not diagnosed with certainty. I could see in the biopsy report that she had Crohn's but that biopsy was being overlooked. Not tooting my own horn here in the least.
Sorry for the spam. After one battle with insurance to allow her to have Remicade treatments, they allowed her seven treatments. Went very well for a few months. Then, she developed antibodies to it and ended up in the hospital again. Remicade costs thousands of dollars per infusion that has to be done at the hospital or medical center. Then, Humira was approved for Crohn's. That costs about sixteen hundred dollars a month. Cost to me is fifty dollars a month.
Insurance has never questioned Humira and the Imuran that she has to take. Go figure -- the cost of Remicade and the cost of Humira yearly is not a lot different. Her local GI doctor did send her to a university specialist in Crohn's. That visit confirmed my interpretation of the biopsy report.
She is doing all right on Humira and Imuran since February. She is able to work. She told me that she would kill herself if she could not work. She is an extrovert and has a need to be around people as much as possible. Problem is that where she works does not offer insurance until an employee has been there for a year. She came off my insurance when she turned 19. We tried to get Medicaid but could not. She was told that she is not diabled enough and that she is not pregnant.
So I pay COBRA for her. Costs almost three hundred dollars a month. I am fortunate that I could do this for her -- not wealthy -- because she would completely relapse without medication and medical care. With no insurance and no medicine, she would get to the point that she was when she was finally given Remicade -- almost dead. Almost dead, she may have gotten Medicaid but she would have killed herself because she could not work.
Kind of a paradox -- either way, you're dead. This is why I am in favor of univeral health care. Even it turns out to be imperfect, at least, there would be coverage. It would be the same coverage for a person in your position and a person who is perfectly healthy but needs to see a doctor once in a while.
It would also cover someone like my daughter --a person who -- on medication -- can and will work; has ambition and drive; wants to be a part of the world. If I did not pay COBRA for her, she would have nothing.
You seem to be a very intelligent young woman and I wish you well. No one should be denied medical coverage for inability to pay. I will also say that no patient should EVER tolerate rudeness from a doctor. I wouldn't. I work for in a doctor's office. When we send our patients to other doctors and they come back to me with a story of being treated badly, I stop sending patients to that doctor. I always ask my patients how they were treated.
I have had many patients tell me that they were spoken to me by doctors in the same rude manner you describe. I always tell them that they should not tolerate that behavior for a single minute. I tell them to get up and walk out. We can send them somewhere else.
Sorry for the typos. I don't care what kind of insurance you have -- don't take it. Walk out. On the Medicaid issue, more and more doctors are refusing it. Medicare is next. I will also say this -- while I know that people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia really have Lupus or MS or RA -- I know that these people have real pain and real symptoms -- blurred vision, cognitive lapses --
making the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is a way of copping out. This happens to people with commercial insurance as well. Lupus is rarely diagnosed. My first husband was diagnosed with horrific Systemic Lupus thirty years ago and that is another nightmare.
My second husband died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma eighteen years ago and that is another nightmare. When my second husband lay dying in one hospital, I was getting calls from another hospital wanting me to pay them the twenty percent I owed.
I said, "He will be dead by tomorrow so please call me on Monday. By then, I will know something about the life insurance." He died that night. I paid everything we owed out of the life insurance except the last bill for a MRI that was done when he was brain dead. I wrote to the hospital and said, "I need to buy a new refrigerator so could you kindly write this last one off?" They did.
I raised my two kids alone. They are nineteen and seventeen now -- two years old and two months old when their father died. I have always paid the insurance premiums for them to have insurance and rarely used it until Rock had Crohn's. I will stop now. I have spammed your space enough. Since you cannot do another video, I wish that you would write further of your experience here. Keep pushing, lady. You are worth it.
I am a pretty suspicious and cynical person -- been a nurse for twenty-five years. You get that way. I have a lot of sympathy for you. MS is one of the most difficult diagnoses. No one wants to diagnose it -- no matter the evidence on MRI and the symptoms. I can say this is true even for patients with commercial insurance who get the right MRI.
Medicaid will cover the kind of MRI you mention. However, the reimbursement that Medicaid pays is very low. No profit. So, I wonder why the doctors did not do the MRI.
Anyway, I think your second video is one of the best on here. You are a passionate and elegant speaker. If you were able to work again, you would be very valuable as an advocate for people with MS or something along those lines. I am sorry for what happened to you -- sorry that you had to have MS and sorry that you could not get the tests and treatment you needed.
I own mutual funds that have holdings in hundreds of companies, many of which I have real issues with, including insurance companies. I don't know of any "socially responsible" funds that screen for insurance companies. If I don't invest, then haven't I hurt my family by forfeiting all the compounding income? Part of the twisted genius of our system is that if you have some money and wish to be a financially responsible person, it's difficult not to invest in our health care system.
god, what a sad story. this girl needs help. our healthcare system is rotten. please----anyone with stock invested in healthcare insurance---withdraw your funds---now. this is the only way of hurting the "fat cat" "get rich" insurance companies.
In a world not defined by profits I think you would not suffer from these atrocities. It is hard for me to believe that we cannot cure anything or stated another way ANYTHING!
my cousin was diagnosed with M.S. about 5 yrs ago and I have to tell you, it is really hard having a disease of this nature, but what makes it worse is having to fight and be your own advocate against the insurance co. while you are suffering.
This is insane...there is no reason that anyone should go through so much suffering...especially when we live in a country thats is supposedly the greatest on earth, and they have no regard for their own people. My heart goes out to you, and I'm glad you made this video, and maybe people will be more aware, maybe your story and others put out there by Michael Moore will open people's eyes and make a difference..Thank you!
i cant even imagine all that you went through - thank you so much for sharing your story and i hope that we can make changes to make sure things like this dont happen to anyone.
I must admit I clicked on this because you're cute :-) but I ended up watching both & found them compelling. Kudos to you for taking time to do this, I"m sure it wasn't easy. Hopefully MM will work with you to get something concise he can show Congress.
Ignore idiots out there that have nothing better to do than make dumb comments. Just delete'm... makes it easier for those of us interested to follow your story, Good luck!
Thank you very much. I hope MM does use our stories. We've put ourselves out there and it would be nice if he did. However I am just glad people like you are taking the time to listen. That's all I hoped to achieve. I'm doing my best. I have started to delete and block when necessary. I want people to be able to voice their opinions, even if I disagree. But I can't allow hate comments. Thank you for your support and kind words!
You say "sad stories" as if this is a work of fiction. If you think that someone would post something like this just for self gratification then you have a very flawed perspective of the world. If you truly believe everything you said then I invite you to park in a handicapped spot. Those people don't have problems at all, their just faking it for attention!
All of these make me not want to work in the medical field in billing and coding. I do not want to be involved in taking people's lives away or not being able to get the money from the government so people like you can get the help that they need. I do not know how I am going to get motivated to finish school and get certifications so I can work out there in a world that does what was done to you in the wealthiest nation on earth.
No we need people like you who are compassionate. Think of how you can help people on an individual basis. That in it's self a reason to continue. You may not be able to move mountains, But you will be able to put a smile on someones face. And trust me, after leaving a doctors office, Sometimes that's all we need.
I've been watching these responses to Michael Moore's vid, and it sickens me how many people's only responses are "ha, you're gay" and "Michael Moore is fat." Someone was bleeding their heart out about how sadistic our health care system is, and someone actually replied "shut up nerd, you should go get laid." The smallness of some some people staggers me.
Thank you. Yes I know that alot of us are getting heat from absolute aholes. point blank. But we are also receiving alot of positive feed back from people like you and I hope like me, that is what the others who have told their stories are doing, Focusing on the positive. It does amaze me how people can be so rude even in this situation. Thank you for your suport!
I'm actually shocked and appalled that anyone could have anything negative to say after seeing this video. It's truly shameful. This isn't an issue which you should be for or against - we are all human beings and we should support equal medical treatment.
I agree, it's not a white or black issue, male vs female, dem vs rep,or even a rich vs poor. It's a human one that will effect all of us. I think it's hard for some who have never been ill or had to fight for treatment to understand. But if things don't change, they will one day. Thank you for your suport and taking the time!
Well, it might be more of a rich vs poor issue. The very wealthy will always get the best of everything including the best doctors, nurses, and lawyers.
Well I am a Registered Nurse, cardiac Critical Care and ER for last 2 years before I could physically no longer to work. I was asked to resign for missing 1 day to many in a quarter, which was 4 nights in 3 months. I was the senior RN and highest paid. Do the math. I lost everything. Most my clothes are in my junker car. Nurses do most the physical work, they do not live in mansions.
I live in Canada where when we're sick we only worry about getting better. It's a government's responsibility to make sure that the sick are taken care of regardless of their financial status. I hope things get easier for you. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there and share such an intense story with a bunch of strangers. Ignore the negativity being posted. You are a strong, inspirational person who's paving the way for a better America. Thank you.
Thank you very much! That truly means alot to hear. I'm doing my best to ignore, In truth, I feel sorry for them. It's like they live in a bubble world without reality. The reality is millions of people have been mistreated, it may not have happened to them, but one day, if things don't change it will...Thank you for your kinds words and support!
I HAVE A HUNCH, ElColombiano, IS ONE OF THE DOCTORS WHO MIS-DIAGNOSED THIS WOMAN IN THE BEGINNING!!! Why else would he ATTACK this woman? This courageous, intelligent, admirable woman who every other human being wants to reach through the screen and hug?! She was ROBBED of her vitality, of the basic comfort in just being alive. She's lives in pain and suffering! This cold-blooded, sniveling meatwad is shows no empathy at all - it's doctors like that who misdiagnose and breed malpractice.
I personally do not believe for a minute he's even a real doctor..Just another hater hiding behind his computer. Trust me, he's a puppy compared to some of the emails I've recieved ;) Meatwad! Loved that! lol..Thank ou for your kind words, They really mean alot right now.
Thank you so much for sharing your story! You're such a strong person, an inspiration to me! I'm 25, had my back broken in a car accident last year - drunk driver. I'll have this pain forever, and surprise, insurance booted me off while I was in the hospital. Thank you for your story! I'll keep you in my prayers! ::HUGS::
The drunk driver caused my accident! It looks like I was saying I was the drunk driver, just clarifying! :)
I can't afford to see the regular doctor any longer, or the 1-3,000 MRI, so I've resorted to pain management clinics. The cheap alternative. You know what this means for me... not much chance of a vibrant future. I'm very angry. But your story gives me hope of change.
Just don't ever give up. Even now I have a doc who is just righting me off, not listening to some of my issues. Once I move and settle into my new place I will be doc shopping again. Just fight and never take it laying down. Lord does it make you tired but at least you can face yourself and know you did everything you could. I hope the very best for you! I really do!
Oh I am so sorry! For your pain and what the insurance did! I have no words!! You are just as much an inspiration! It never fails to amaze me what the insurance companies will do or not do! Thank you so much for sharing your story! As horrible as it is, More should know of your suffering!
I am crossing my fingers that everything gets better for you.Your videos really moved me,you are so well spoken and such a sweetheart.I now have a crush on you!Good LUCK to you.
lol, thank you so much for your support. It means alot right now. It was hard knowing I was putting myself " out there " & w/ some of the emails, comments I have received that have been less then friendly. It's nice to receive an uplifting and funny one! Thank you for taking the time to listen!
Sadly the western healing methode is curing the result, the chinese or tibetan people search for the real root of the problem,i hope you get well soon and i wish you luck!greetings from holland
Thank you very much. It's funny you mentioned the eastern ways of healing, I currently treat myself with Reiki and although I have an aversion to needles am hoping to try acupuncture, I really thinking that would help since alot of my issues are w/ the nerves. Thank you for taking the time and your support!
On the night of the 2000 Election (vs. Gore, ...important) Governor "Jeb" Bush ordered the closing of all panhandle Interstates and State Roads, the main thoroughfare(s) of the minority vote that would ensure a Democratic victory. Ordered by Jeb Bush. How in God's name did we allow this pansy son of a rich Maine cuntlicker gai
Ah yes, Don't forget Jeb Bush also ordered for medicaid to stop funding, Eye exams, certain eye glasses, hearing aids and dental treatment other than two extractions a year..I guess the poor can literally go around, deaf, blind, and toothless.
the ironic thing is that some of these poor people voted Jeb in as well as GW. I guess the only way to keep them voting for the bush family is to keep them deaf, blind and toothless.
I totally agree with akfhome, when you or a loved one becomes ill (which is inevitable, you will have to go through this) then you will have the answer to your question. It is so easy to make judgements like bendmeover69 or was it bikemyass69? I can't remember his name. Any, I am sick of how callous some of these people are. They truly think they are immune from being treated poorly and without dignity.
i hear ya, man. It was just that it seemed to quickly degenerate into a virtual parking lot fight after awhile. But hey, at least no one lost an eye. it would've sucked for either one of you to have to experience 1st-hand, just how bad the health care sysytem really is. Peace, bro :)
LOL! Whoa! Hey!...guys, rent a room, why don'tcha?! You both seem a little verklempt. Just in case you've forgotten, akfhome27's original coffee talk topic was 'The Sad State Of Today's Health Care System'...ok. Discuss. :)
LOL! Yes I know! I should be asleep. So much on my mind, Have a bad case of insomnia! I was just about to log off so I could have another date staring at my walls in the dark, when I got your comment! So I'll blame it on you! lol. Thanks for doing it..If you couldnt tell, I didnt have the nerve ;)
Blame accepted. Though not without making an effort to help with your insomnia. Either try reading the phonebook or take three stiff shots of the strongest stuff in the house you've got...just don't combine the two, Amy, otherwise it'll be 7a.m. and you'll be up to the mid G's. ok. really this time. night night ;)
Unfortunately, same here, A. The birds were up singing & worm hunting by the time my sorry nighthawk head finally hit the pillow. Damn this YT addiction of ours! Well, here's to Sweeter Dreams for us both tonight! Now...where did i put that bottle of Captain Morgan?
Ah yes, the Internet is def no help. Neither are all the noises in my head { not literally } I.E. worries, thoughts, to much going on..Heres a toast to the sand man for both of us tonight!
Hope your worries with the landlords come to an end soon, A. Eventually, the whole ordeal will be past history & you'll be able to at least put that particular stressfest to rest. Keep thinkin positive, sleepy thoughts, girl. :)
I'm from Canada, everything here is free. I can't understand how a rich gov like America can't provide med for everybody, at no cost.... Its pretty sad when people's health is used as a means to make money. Health Care in the USA is a business, makes me want to puke.
True, in comparison to The States, Canada's health care system is much more 'people friendly'. Though BC does charge monthly premiums (which have seen steady annual increases). The province has also seen dramatic cutbacks in what's covered under the health plan, including chiropractic & massage therapy, child care & longterm private home care. We're not as messed up as the US in this regard, but our gov't seems to want us to be.
You Canadians always say "everything here is free". Are you so naive that you really believe that?!? You all pay for it through outrageous taxes that are taken from your pay without your consent. When are you commies going to wake up and realize that NOTHING IS FREE!!! It's pretty sad that so few people realize they're getting swindled.
Tim do you think that Americans do not pay just as much tax as the Canadians? Do you realize how many times we are taxed on the SAME MONEY? Think about this, you get your paycheck tax is taken out, you buy something at the store, more tax is taken out, you buy a house, tax is taken out, you put it in the bank, you pay tax on your interest.
You buy a car, you get taxed, you buy plates for the car, more tax...it goes on and on. We already had the tax taken out of our check, why pay it again and again and again?
Eeeeasy, brother. We may live in igloos all year round, drink strong beer & bet half our paycheck away on the saturday night husky fights, but we're not stupid. We're just talkin paying premiums on top of the already 'outrageous taxes'. WE know. WE'RE the outrageously taxed. I think you may be looking for the comment conversation a few feet back. Just scroll up. You'll know it when you come to it. Peace, bro. :)
Please don't take this the wrong way, but making war will always be more important to this country than its citizens. No problems dumping a billion dollars a day into the quagmire of Iraq, creating immense suffering, while leaving those at home in situations like yours to fall even deeper into theirs. We are all dogs to those in the seats of power. America, the best country in the world? FAR from it. We are an international embarrassment. I hope your fortunes improve. Take care.
I take no offence and agree completely. Once the war started { for example } I received a letter from Governor Jeb Bush stating Eye exams, glasses and hearing aids or dental procedures except for 2 extractions a yr would not be approved by medicaid anymore..Just one example of how they cut funds for the war..
I'm so proud of you for speaking out like this and sharing your living hell of the medical world. I believe everything you say because I have been through it. Also, I want to get well so I can get back to work. I have given lots to this country and I just happen to get really sick and need some fixing and some respect. You keep doing it!!!
Dude you're a conspiracy theorist loser and i'm not even gonna entertain you anymore. Sorry but if you believe in this zionist stuff or that 911 was an inside job or any of this stuff you are plane stupid. It all can be debunked and when it does you revert to your paranoya by saying "that's what they want you to think" or something similar. I'm an atheist and don't support any religion but I know BS when i see it.
ElColombiano, you're a doctor? The Methotrexate, prednisone (or other cortosteroids) would have been totally inappropriate for someone with her preexistings. If you ARE a doctor(doubtful), you need a new textbook. Im no doctor, but I know what I know - I pity your patients for their treatment and the Neocon diatribe they are probably all subject to. p.s. Scan specific patial MRIs DO exist. Found that doing a Google search.
Thank you again..Yes they do..My MRI was of only of my pituitary gland. Which is commonly done for a specific issue I had...This person who claims to be a doctor is completely discredited in my opinion. Thank you very much for your support and taking the time to watch!
"it's a political agenda that favors a single group over all peoples of the earth, all races" Isn't that wat all political parties and religions are? Watever serves their best interest and screw everybody else. Why is it just jews and not christians you're worried about. They read the same book (or half of one) So far the only political agendas taking route have been ones intented to destroy them. If they control everything why did the holocaust happen?
ElColombiano, you're saying that her treatment wouldn't have been any different had she not been misdiagnosed? We both know THAT is the blatant lie.
And let it go!You have about 140 comments on here-preach your propaganda to a new crowd.
Im a health care provider for a man on Medicare-caid, and his treatment is 100% different than what you or I expect. We just kicked his 240/month Percocet addiction because he was treated for the pain, not the problem.
Please, where did I say that. I said that even if she was diagnosed and treated 5 years ago, with the best medications she could only prevent about 30% of her symptoms. She is providing blatant misinformation about her past diagnostic procedures (that she had "little" MRI, which do not exist) and her prognosis had she'd been treated earlier. The vast majority of her symptoms could NOT have been avoided even if she'd been diagnosed during the very first day she saw a doctor.
again..It does exist..I had only an MRI that showed my pituitary gland..Im sorry if you do not believe me..That is the TRUTH. As far as your " qualifications " I am doubting them highly, because anyone in the medical field will agree with me that treatment is better than none.
Yes treat the pain NOT the issue, HUGE problem I saw and delt with myself..These drug companys and docs really have a special place in hell for them waiting!
It just make me mad as hell that our health care system is so broken that someone like you who can be a vital working woman, and a contributer to society, has to be reduced to begging for help and not getting it. As Americans we should be ashamed.
Fringe I just want to thank you so much for your support right now. I'll tell you what I told Anikian..Its support from you guys that means so much right now. BTW excpect a PM soon. To explain my MIA in stickam..this place being part of the reason!
Actually, that is incorrect. The medicine I am on now { Copaxone } is a known drug to slow the effects of MS dramatically. Also had my shoulder been properly treated BEFORE medicare took effect, I would have not dislocated as many times as I had, Also had medicare treated my shoulder w/ the proper amount of PT that it needed I would not be going through the amount of pain I currently am.
Proud of u. Thought process declining rapidly 21 yrs of misdiags. White matter on brain. Terrible being unproductive. Lost all with little ss.Docs refusing treatment since can't make copays anymore.Medicare covers little. Hosp refuse charity care. Docs still saying FM although falling alot. Insane pain. Can't afford meds even with part D. THANK YOU 4 trying 2 help others. My heart is with you. Great vid 4 congress. You displayed your strength here.
Difficult 2 do after 2 decades but no, I won't give up, EVER! Thank u again 4 renewing hope & strength. FYI, I worked through much of that period refusing 2 give up. It was horrifying 2 see the drastic change in treatment from when I had excellent ins. coverage to medicare. WOW! Now, with the growing abuse of pain meds, the docs don't want 2 provide that option either. It's time 4 CHANGE! TY akfhome27 & TY, Mr. Moore.
What makes you think the health care in any other country is better? For example, Google "NHS horror stories" and see what Socialized health care in Britain is really like.
For certain conditions it's as easy to get repeatedly fobbed off by doctors in the UK under the National Health Service. I hope that things go well for you in the future
So do I. I really do. Don't feel sorry for me. I am blessed in many ways. And in truth there are people with worst medical situations going on then me. I'm just one of the few who used this out lite to share..Thank you for taking the time to listen!
wat do you mean? like South carolina Senator Robert Byrd who was once the exalted cyclops to the KKK racists or this zionist controled bs. All i'm saying is if jews controled the world they'd have to be the most subtle people on the planet becaus it seems most of the time they're getting there asses handed to them.
"but alas" don't try to be one of these psuedo-intellectuals who think they're on to a big conspiracy theory. I've been down that road and found it to be full of bullshit. If you're an anti-semite just say it and the debates over. Sorry but anybody who believes what your saying is falling for the same racists conspiracy BS that's been used to convince week minded people stuff like this for centuries.
It's because I have short term memory loss. also because things don't " fire off " to the brain correctly due to the " black holes " which was once matter in the brain, also known as " plaque " when untreated long enough, this matter decays and holes develop..
what are you talking about? The times thing was in london, Stolypin was chairmen of the Council of Ministers for the Czar, Berne is in austria, and the US congres is not controled by jews. Where do you get off saying that. If these are jewish controled entities why have jews been such victims of persecturion over the last 100 years? I think somebody is giving you false information. this is all racist conspiracy theory bs.
c ontinued .... For example you had memory problems, tingling, and pain. Those symptoms are so non-specific that they could be literaly any illneses known to man. Did you have vision problems. ataxia or tremor, no. Did you have cerebellar signs, no. DId you have llhremite sign. I am guessing you didn't have any of these, otherwise any doctor, even GPs in their right minds would have sent you right away for an MRI. I have never heard of the frontal MRI that you're talking about.
As far as my Symptoms are lack there of..I had MANY { and now due to the time wasted ALL of the symptoms } The fact is, When people complain of the various issues I was complaining to my docs about,There is a series of test of elimination that should be followed. The reason all my symptoms went ignored was because at the time medicaid did not cover the tests I needed, I.E spinal tap, MRI, and a test to check for Optic neuritis, So there for I went untreated. cont.
Both my current Nero and Primary cant believe I went untreated as long as I did. Because now I have all symptoms of MS. Which could have been avoided.
But you said, you had many MRIs before. NOw you're saying that medicaid didn't cover it? Or did you have little MRIs? which doesn't make any sense, because when they do MRIs they take pictures of the whole brain, and not just the frontal lobes.Like little MRIs do not exist. And if you had many MRIs you must have had spinal taps and nerve conduction studies because these tests are relatively cheap compared to MRIs.
My guess is I had only the pituitary gland checked fringe, Unlike what the above person said there are MRI's that only check certain areas if necessary ;) Trust me when I say I have the said MRI in my records , ;)
My guess is that some people with a little bit of knowledge think they know everything. (Not to be impolite to ELColombiano, but an MRI can certainly be conducted on select areas which is why we don't have a complete body scan done if we complain about, say, back pain.) Also, the doctors were advised that there is a strong history of MS in our family so the path was clearly laid for them to follow. They just didn't.
Thats just one of the reasons I do not believe that person works in the health care system. quite frankly someone googled " MRI's " and found out I was right, surly a " doctor " would have known that..
Actually no, Im sorry to inform you, but not ALL MRI's cover the entire brain..Some MRI's such as I had, only cover the area of curitosty. I had a MRI that covered ONLY the pituitary gland. NOT the entire brain. Being that I lived this, I know what I speak of.
I am confused, do you have progessive MS or relapsing MS? You're aware that the treatment for relapsing MS is largely ineffective, and even if doctor's diagnosed you before there could be nothing that they could've done. I understand that you feel bitter, but unlike what you said you didn't have all the signs of MS.
Actually relapsing MS can be treated. It slows down the times you have an " out break " if you will..As of right now, because I was diagnosed late, They are not sure, I have only been on my treatment a little over a year..By my next MRI { which is due in another yr } and if other symptoms continues to get worst we will know for sure...Either way. Treatment does help..BUT of course like any other medication causes other side effects.
AT best medications reduce the intensity of the relapses by 33%. These medications are so toxic however that they will often induce everything from lymphomas to depression to psychosis. You can just give methotrexate, prednisone, and interferon to patients just for suspecting they have MS. So, sorry but I am suspecting there's nothing more your doctors could've done.
i feel so bad for you. im so sorry about your medicaid situation, and i know the feeling as with my asthma when i was 3 the doctors only said that i had bronchitis even though it was full fledged asthma, and i went through 4 years of antibiotics which made me obese and gave me like an afro because
Oh thats horrible for a kid to go through! Im sorry you had to! Please dont feel sorry for me. Its life, My only concern is it could have been avoided. And I want people to think on how many other people who were mistreated, How many of their problems could have been avoided.. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and share your story!

You do know that the protocols of the elders of zion was proven to be a hoax designed to insight people against the jews. Several independent investigation proved it to be nothing but antisemetic propoganda, nothing more. Honestly i don't think you know what your talking about.
I saw your video and I must say, that it's very touching thing. One of my relatives also has multiple scleroris (well, we live in Germany so the treatment is quite good, but concerned myself with that affliction and can understand you a little better). The only thing we can hope is that Moore will draw more attention to that injustice so it gets dealt with. You certainly live in a great country, but somethings wrong and it has to be fixed. Wish you all luck, hope it will end as good as possible.
oh and one other thing, if you are on Medicaid they want to treat you like scum so you wont come back! Then they can see more people on better insurance plans. If you are on an HMO and you need an appointment for a referral to a specialist then you have to wait forever to see them, or go on hold. The reason is because you cost them money which comes out of the doctors pocket.
I'm trying to keep up with all these comments, I missed these ones of yours, Thank you for sharing what you have seen! Also I agree that they treat medicaid paitents COMPLETLY different then regular insured people. Boy could I tell some stories to back me up!
Yeah lol, I try to explain to the HMO patients that have diabetes, heart problems, and every other major illness that they shouldn't leave their primary care doctor if he or she pisses them off; because that's exactly what they want them to do! Then they go to a humanitarian doctor and he ends up seeing everyone and loses his shirt.
As a disabled RN. masses on nerve roots in my spine from cervical to sacral, several large. Partial herniation of the lower brain (ACM). When on Medicaid/Medicare you are responsible for 20%, when you are facing a quarter million dollar surgery, how many surgeons going to do surgery knowing you are on disability and would never be able to pay his bill.
That is just the surgery. Doesn't include the anesthesiologist and all the aftercare. I hear that the risks are very high for further nerve damage, while I read on the groups sites of others going back to work, cycling. In other words having a quality of life. I can not do a photo video, but I can contribute to the dialogue. The real messages has got to get out. Thank You and God Bless!
Welcome to the U$A! If you have money you can have anything you want. The reason your doctors couldn't help you is because they would lose money taking care of you. Sorry to say but doctors can only afford to see a patient every 5 minutes. If they take longer they lose money. Your problem takes too long to diagnose. It's easier to give you pain med and an anti-inflamatory. Next!
In a nut shell that is EXACTLY what I went through..Thank you for taking the time to watch both vids and make excellent comments on both! It means alot that you took the time!
I agree, the insurance companies make a killing off the American public. They pay off Congress and therefore they can do anything they want. I had a patient who lives in Palm Beach who had her own insurance. When they found out she had breast cancer they ripped up her check; and sent her a letter saying her insurance was canceled.
I also took care of a guy who worked for an insurance company and he told me after I told him that story that he use to do that all the time. He told me that's why he left it was too corrupt. Big business is also corrupt.
I had a friend of mine who worked for a large car dealership and one of his sales people was diagnosed with bone cancer. He was a father of three. The insurance agent went to the owner and told him the rates would go up because of him. The owner had him fired so he wouldn't have to pay higher rates. He told my friend if he couldn't sleep then he should leave too! The guy gave that man a death sentence.

MKFaizi 4 years ago
As insurance goes, my insurance company was all right. I do, of course owe twenty percent of the costs of services but, at least, after a certain point, they notified the hospital and whoever else that I could not be charged further out of pocket expenses and that I was exempt from co-pays for six months.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
At least, there was some reprieve. During the time when she was very, very sick, it was extremely frustrating not having a diagnosis. You get to the point that you want to scream at the doctor, "IT'S CROHN'S DISEASE, JACKASS!! MAKE THE FRICKIN' DIAGNOSIS!! HER GUTS ARE KILLING HER!!"
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Had to try many medicines before we got to the big gun -- Remicade -- after a thirty pound weight loss to the point that she looked like a skeleton and was being fed by TPN -- a port.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
By then, she was considered to have probable Crohn's but not diagnosed with certainty. I could see in the biopsy report that she had Crohn's but that biopsy was being overlooked. Not tooting my own horn here in the least.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Sorry for the spam. After one battle with insurance to allow her to have Remicade treatments, they allowed her seven treatments. Went very well for a few months. Then, she developed antibodies to it and ended up in the hospital again. Remicade costs thousands of dollars per infusion that has to be done at the hospital or medical center. Then, Humira was approved for Crohn's. That costs about sixteen hundred dollars a month. Cost to me is fifty dollars a month.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Insurance has never questioned Humira and the Imuran that she has to take. Go figure -- the cost of Remicade and the cost of Humira yearly is not a lot different. Her local GI doctor did send her to a university specialist in Crohn's. That visit confirmed my interpretation of the biopsy report.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
She is doing all right on Humira and Imuran since February. She is able to work. She told me that she would kill herself if she could not work. She is an extrovert and has a need to be around people as much as possible. Problem is that where she works does not offer insurance until an employee has been there for a year. She came off my insurance when she turned 19. We tried to get Medicaid but could not. She was told that she is not diabled enough and that she is not pregnant.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
So I pay COBRA for her. Costs almost three hundred dollars a month. I am fortunate that I could do this for her -- not wealthy -- because she would completely relapse without medication and medical care. With no insurance and no medicine, she would get to the point that she was when she was finally given Remicade -- almost dead. Almost dead, she may have gotten Medicaid but she would have killed herself because she could not work.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Kind of a paradox -- either way, you're dead. This is why I am in favor of univeral health care. Even it turns out to be imperfect, at least, there would be coverage. It would be the same coverage for a person in your position and a person who is perfectly healthy but needs to see a doctor once in a while.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
It would also cover someone like my daughter --a person who -- on medication -- can and will work; has ambition and drive; wants to be a part of the world. If I did not pay COBRA for her, she would have nothing.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
You seem to be a very intelligent young woman and I wish you well. No one should be denied medical coverage for inability to pay. I will also say that no patient should EVER tolerate rudeness from a doctor. I wouldn't. I work for in a doctor's office. When we send our patients to other doctors and they come back to me with a story of being treated badly, I stop sending patients to that doctor. I always ask my patients how they were treated.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
I have had many patients tell me that they were spoken to me by doctors in the same rude manner you describe. I always tell them that they should not tolerate that behavior for a single minute. I tell them to get up and walk out. We can send them somewhere else.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Sorry for the typos. I don't care what kind of insurance you have -- don't take it. Walk out. On the Medicaid issue, more and more doctors are refusing it. Medicare is next. I will also say this -- while I know that people diagnosed with Fibromyalgia really have Lupus or MS or RA -- I know that these people have real pain and real symptoms -- blurred vision, cognitive lapses --
MKFaizi 4 years ago
making the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is a way of copping out. This happens to people with commercial insurance as well. Lupus is rarely diagnosed. My first husband was diagnosed with horrific Systemic Lupus thirty years ago and that is another nightmare.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
My second husband died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma eighteen years ago and that is another nightmare. When my second husband lay dying in one hospital, I was getting calls from another hospital wanting me to pay them the twenty percent I owed.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
I said, "He will be dead by tomorrow so please call me on Monday. By then, I will know something about the life insurance." He died that night. I paid everything we owed out of the life insurance except the last bill for a MRI that was done when he was brain dead. I wrote to the hospital and said, "I need to buy a new refrigerator so could you kindly write this last one off?" They did.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
I raised my two kids alone. They are nineteen and seventeen now -- two years old and two months old when their father died. I have always paid the insurance premiums for them to have insurance and rarely used it until Rock had Crohn's. I will stop now. I have spammed your space enough. Since you cannot do another video, I wish that you would write further of your experience here. Keep pushing, lady. You are worth it.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
I am a pretty suspicious and cynical person -- been a nurse for twenty-five years. You get that way. I have a lot of sympathy for you. MS is one of the most difficult diagnoses. No one wants to diagnose it -- no matter the evidence on MRI and the symptoms. I can say this is true even for patients with commercial insurance who get the right MRI.
MKFaizi 4 years ago
Medicaid will cover the kind of MRI you mention. However, the reimbursement that Medicaid pays is very low. No profit. So, I wonder why the doctors did not do the MRI.
MKFaizi 4 years ago

Part of the twisted genius of our system is that if you have some money and wish to be a financially responsible person, it's difficult not to invest in our health care system.
phmyers 4 years ago
god, what a sad story. this girl needs help. our healthcare system is rotten. please----anyone with stock invested in healthcare insurance---withdraw your funds---now. this is the only way of hurting the "fat cat" "get rich" insurance companies.

my cousin was diagnosed with M.S. about 5 yrs ago and I have to tell you, it is really hard having a disease of this nature, but what makes it worse is having to fight and be your own advocate against the insurance co. while you are suffering.

Thank you for your support and kind words!
akfhome27 4 years ago
You say "sad stories" as if this is a work of fiction. If you think that someone would post something like this just for self gratification then you have a very flawed perspective of the world. If you truly believe everything you said then I invite you to park in a handicapped spot. Those people don't have problems at all, their just faking it for attention!
onlyrealnumber 4 years ago

Keep strong sis.

Thank you. Yes I know that alot of us are getting heat from absolute aholes. point blank. But we are also receiving alot of positive feed back from people like you and I hope like me, that is what the others who have told their stories are doing, Focusing on the positive. It does amaze me how people can be so rude even in this situation. Thank you for your suport!
akfhome27 4 years ago
I'm actually shocked and appalled that anyone could have anything negative to say after seeing this video. It's truly shameful. This isn't an issue which you should be for or against - we are all human beings and we should support equal medical treatment.
bigmike174 4 years ago
I agree, it's not a white or black issue, male vs female, dem vs rep,or even a rich vs poor. It's a human one that will effect all of us. I think it's hard for some who have never been ill or had to fight for treatment to understand. But if things don't change, they will one day. Thank you for your suport and taking the time!
akfhome27 4 years ago

You are a strong, inspirational person who's paving the way for a better America. Thank you.

::HUGS::
frostybaby13 4 years ago
The drunk driver caused my accident! It looks like I was saying I was the drunk driver, just clarifying! :)
I can't afford to see the regular doctor any longer, or the 1-3,000 MRI, so I've resorted to pain management clinics. The cheap alternative. You know what this means for me... not much chance of a vibrant future. I'm very angry. But your story gives me hope of change.
frostybaby13 4 years ago
Just don't ever give up. Even now I have a doc who is just righting me off, not listening to some of my issues. Once I move and settle into my new place I will be doc shopping again. How in God's name did we allow this pansy son of a rich Maine cuntlicker gai
sminnian 4 years ago
Ah yes, Don't forget Jeb Bush also ordered for medicaid to stop funding, Eye exams, certain eye glasses, hearing aids and dental treatment other than two extractions a year..I guess the poor can literally go around, deaf, blind, and toothless.

I'm from Canada, everything here is free. I can't understand how a rich gov like America can't provide med for everybody, at no cost.... Its pretty sad when people's health is used as a means to make money. Health Care in the USA is a business, makes me want to puke.
Pipahh 4 years ago
True, in comparison to The States, Canada's health care system is much more 'people friendly'. Though BC does charge monthly premiums (which have seen steady annual increases). The province has also seen dramatic cutbacks in what's covered under the health plan, including chiropractic & massage therapy, child care & longterm private home care. We're not as messed up as the US in this regard, but our gov't seems to want us to be.
booradleysstuntman 4 years ago
You Canadians always say "everything here is free". Are you so naive that you really believe that?!? You all pay for it through outrageous taxes that are taken from your pay without your consent. When are you commies going to wake up and realize that NOTHING IS FREE!!! It's pretty sad that so few people realize they're getting swindled.
TimRObhiLL 4 years ago
Tim do you think that Americans do not pay just as much tax as the Canadians? Do you realize how many times we are taxed on the SAME MONEY? Think about this, you get your paycheck tax is taken out, you buy something at the store, more tax is taken out, you buy a house, tax is taken out, you put it in the bank, you pay tax on your interest.
hurt4ever1ms 4 years ago
You buy a car, you get taxed, you buy plates for the car, more tax...it goes on and on. We already had the tax taken out of our check, why pay it again and again and again?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but making war will always be more important to this country than its citizens. No problems dumping a billion dollars a day into the quagmire of Iraq, creating immense suffering, while leaving those at home in situations like yours to fall even deeper into theirs. We are all dogs to those in the seats of power. America, the best country in the world? FAR from it. We are an international embarrassment. I hope your fortunes improve. Take care.
sminnian 4 years ago
I take no offence and agree completely. Once the war started { for example } I received a letter from Governor Jeb Bush stating Eye exams, glasses and hearing aids or dental procedures except for 2 extractions a yr would not be approved by medicaid anymore..Just one example of how they cut funds for the war..

We just kicked his 240/month Percocet addiction because he was treated for the pain, not the problem.
begoode0730 4 years ago
Please, where did I say that. I said that even if she was diagnosed and treated 5 years ago, with the best medications she could only prevent about 30% of her symptoms. She is providing blatant misinformation about her past diagnostic procedures (that she had "little" MRI, which do not exist) and her prognosis had she'd been treated earlier. The vast majority of her symptoms could NOT have been avoided even if she'd been diagnosed during the very first day she saw a doctor.
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
again..It does exist..I had only an MRI that showed my pituitary gland..Im sorry if you do not believe me..That is the TRUTH. As far as your " qualifications " I am doubting them highly, because anyone in the medical field will agree with me that treatment is better than none.

It just make me mad as hell that our health care system is so broken that someone like you who can be a vital working woman, and a contributer to society, has to be reduced to begging for help and not getting it. As Americans we should be ashamed.
Thank you Mr. Moore for making this movie.

Fringe I just want to thank you so much for your support right now. I'll tell you what I told Anikian..Its support from you guys that means so much right now. BTW excpect a PM soon. To explain my MIA in stickam..this place being part of the reason!

When you say in the video that all your symptoms could have been avoided if you would have been diagnosed 5 years ago is blatantly untrue.

And you would know that how?????????
Fringe111 4 years ago
I am a doctor. What qualifications do you have?
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
I am sorry, I have had to many doctors say other wise... and my own life experience to agree with you.
akfhome27 4 years ago
Actually, that is incorrect. The medicine I am on now { Copaxone } is a known drug to slow the effects of MS dramatically. Also had my shoulder been properly treated BEFORE medicare took effect, I would have not dislocated as many times as I had, Also had medicare treated my shoulder w/ the proper amount of PT that it needed I would not be going through the amount of pain I currently am.
akfhome27 4 years ago

For example, Google "NHS horror stories" and see what Socialized health care in Britain is really like.

wat do you mean? like South carolina Senator Robert Byrd who was once the exalted cyclops to the KKK racists or this zionist controled bs. All i'm saying is if jews controled the world they'd have to be the most subtle people on the planet becaus it seems most of the time they're getting there asses handed to them.
Alexo32386 4 years ago
"but alas" don't try to be one of these psuedo-intellectuals who think they're on to a big conspiracy theory. I've been down that road and found it to be full of bullshit. If you're an anti-semite just say it and the debates over. Sorry but anybody who believes what your saying is falling for the same racists conspiracy BS that's been used to convince week minded people stuff like this for centuries.
Alexo32386 4 years ago
You said you painted the wall 2 weeks earlier, then went on to say you didn't remember when you painted it. Doesn't make any sense to me.
orangeslices430 4 years ago
It's because I have short term memory loss. also because things don't " fire off " to the brain correctly due to the " black holes " which was once matter in the brain, also known as " plaque " when untreated long enough, this matter decays and holes develop..

I understand now. I do hope he uses this video response.

what are you talking about? The times thing was in london, Stolypin was chairmen of the Council of Ministers for the Czar, Berne is in austria, and the US congres is not controled by jews. Where do you get off saying that. If these are jewish controled entities why have jews been such victims of persecturion over the last 100 years? I think somebody is giving you false information. this is all racist conspiracy theory bs.
Alexo32386 4 years ago
c ontinued ....
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
As far as my Symptoms are lack there of..I had MANY { and now due to the time wasted ALL of the symptoms } The fact is, When people complain of the various issues I was complaining to my docs about,There is a series of test of elimination that should be followed. The reason all my symptoms went ignored was because at the time medicaid did not cover the tests I needed, I.E spinal tap, MRI, and a test to check for Optic neuritis, So there for I went untreated. cont.
akfhome27 4 years ago
Both my current Nero and Primary cant believe I went untreated as long as I did. Because now I have all symptoms of MS. Which could have been avoided.
akfhome27 4 years ago
But you said, you had many MRIs before. NOw you're saying that medicaid didn't cover it? Or did you have little MRIs? which doesn't make any sense, because when they do MRIs they take pictures of the whole brain, and not just the frontal lobes.Like little MRIs do not exist. And if you had many MRIs you must have had spinal taps and nerve conduction studies because these tests are relatively cheap compared to MRIs.
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
My guess is you came out negative on the inital MRIs, and other tests and than later turned positive.
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
My guess is you don't realize this girl is the norm rather then the exception
Fringe111 4 years ago
My guess is I had only the pituitary gland checked fringe, Unlike what the above person said there are MRI's that only check certain areas if necessary ;) Trust me when I say I have the said MRI in my records , ;)
akfhome27 4 years ago
((((Hugs)))))
Fringe111 4 years ago
My guess is that some people with a little bit of knowledge think they know everything. (Not to be impolite to ELColombiano, but an MRI can certainly be conducted on select areas which is why we don't have a complete body scan done if we complain about, say, back pain.) Also, the doctors were advised that there is a strong history of MS in our family so the path was clearly laid for them to follow. They just didn't.
ImiteB 4 years ago
Thats just one of the reasons I do not believe that person works in the health care system. quite frankly someone googled " MRI's " and found out I was right, surly a " doctor " would have known that..
akfhome27 4 years ago
Hold on here, are you actually saying that Michael Moore is wrong? Go watch this movie
Fringe111 4 years ago
Actually no, Im sorry to inform you, but not ALL MRI's cover the entire brain..Some MRI's such as I had, only cover the area of curitosty. I had a MRI that covered ONLY the pituitary gland. NOT the entire brain. Being that I lived this, I know what I speak of.
akfhome27 4 years ago
I am confused, do you have progessive MS or relapsing MS? You're aware that the treatment for relapsing MS is largely ineffective, and even if doctor's diagnosed you before there could be nothing that they could've done. I understand that you feel bitter, but unlike what you said you didn't have all the signs of MS.
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
Actually relapsing MS can be treated. It slows down the times you have an " out break " if you will..As of right now, because I was diagnosed late, They are not sure, I have only been on my treatment a little over a year..By my next MRI { which is due in another yr } and if other symptoms continues to get worst we will know for sure...Either way. Treatment does help..BUT of course like any other medication causes other side effects.
akfhome27 4 years ago
AT best medications reduce the intensity of the relapses by 33%. These medications are so toxic however that they will often induce everything from lymphomas to depression to psychosis. You can just give methotrexate, prednisone, and interferon to patients just for suspecting they have MS. So, sorry but I am suspecting there's nothing more your doctors could've done.
ElColombiano671 4 years ago
i feel so bad for you. im so sorry about your medicaid situation, and i know the feeling as with my asthma when i was 3 the doctors only said that i had bronchitis even though it was full fledged asthma, and i went through 4 years of antibiotics which made me obese and gave me like an afro because
michellethehawtie 4 years ago
Oh thats horrible for a kid to go through! Im sorry you had to! Please dont feel sorry for me. Its life, My only concern is it could have been avoided. And I want people to think on how many other people who were mistreated, How many of their problems could have been avoided.. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and share your story!
akfhome27 4 years ago
And it was proven to be false by
tolypin's fraud investigation, 1905
The Times exposes a forgery, 1921
The Bern Trial, 1934-1935
United States Congress, Senate. Committee on the Judiciary. Protocols of the Elders of Zion: a fabricated "historic" document. A report prepared by the Subcommittee to Investigate the Administration of the Internal Security Act and Other Internal Security Laws (Washington, U.S. Govt. Printing Office, 1964)
Alexo32386 4 years ago
You do know that the protocols of the elders of zion was proven to be a hoax designed to insight people against the jews. Several independent investigation proved it to be nothing but antisemetic propoganda, nothing more. Honestly i don't think you know what your talking about.
Alexo32386 4 years ago
I saw your video and I must say, that it's very touching thing. One of my relatives also has multiple scleroris (well, we live in Germany so the treatment is quite good, but concerned myself with that affliction and can understand you a little better). The only thing we can hope is that Moore will draw more attention to that injustice so it gets dealt with. You certainly live in a great country, but somethings wrong and it has to be fixed. Wish you all luck, hope it will end as good as possible.

thank you very much. I appreciate you taking the time to listen!
akfhome27 4 years ago
oh and one other thing, if you are on Medicaid they want to treat you like scum so you wont come back! Then they can see more people on better insurance plans. If you are on an HMO and you need an appointment for a referral to a specialist then you have to wait forever to see them, or go on hold. The reason is because you cost them money which comes out of the doctors pocket.
pongman 4 years ago
I'm trying to keep up with all these comments, I missed these ones of yours, Thank you for sharing what you have seen! Also I agree that they treat medicaid paitents COMPLETLY different then regular insured people. Boy could I tell some stories to back me up!
akfhome27 4 years ago
Yeah lol, I try to explain to the HMO patients that have diabetes, heart problems, and every other major illness that they shouldn't leave their primary care doctor if he or she pisses them off; because that's exactly what they want them to do! Then they go to a humanitarian doctor and he ends up seeing everyone and loses his shirt.
pongman 4 years ago
As a disabled RN. masses on nerve roots in my spine from cervical to sacral, several large. Partial herniation of the lower brain (ACM). When on Medicaid/Medicare you are responsible for 20%, when you are facing a quarter million dollar surgery, how many surgeons going to do surgery knowing you are on disability and would never be able to pay his bill.
TheEagleScreams 4 years ago
That is just the surgery. Doesn't include the anesthesiologist and all the aftercare. I hear that the risks are very high for further nerve damage, while I read on the groups sites of others going back to work, cycling. In other words having a quality of life. I can not do a photo video, but I can contribute to the dialogue. The real messages has got to get out. Thank You and God Bless!
TheEagleScreams 4 years ago
Welcome to the U$A! If you have money you can have anything you want. The reason your doctors couldn't help you is because they would lose money taking care of you. Sorry to say but doctors can only afford to see a patient every 5 minutes. If they take longer they lose money. Your problem takes too long to diagnose. It's easier to give you pain med and an anti-inflamatory. Next!
pongman 4 years ago
In a nut shell that is EXACTLY what I went through..Thank you for taking the time to watch both vids and make excellent comments on both! It means alot that you took the time!
akfhome27 4 years ago
Unfortunately you're right. But it's not the doctors fault. It's the insurance companies at fault here.
Fringe111 4 years ago
I agree, the insurance companies make a killing off the American public. They pay off Congress and therefore they can do anything they want. I had a patient who lives in Palm Beach who had her own insurance. When they found out she had breast cancer they ripped up her check; and sent her a letter saying her insurance was canceled.
pongman 4 years ago
I also took care of a guy who worked for an insurance company and he told me after I told him that story that he use to do that all the time. He told me that's why he left it was too corrupt. Big business is also corrupt.
pongman 4 years ago
I had a friend of mine who worked for a large car dealership and one of his sales people was diagnosed with bone cancer. He was a father of three. The insurance agent went to the owner and told him the rates would go up because of him. The owner had him fired so he wouldn't have to pay higher rates. He told my friend if he couldn't sleep then he should leave too! The guy gave that man a death sentence.
