  • Would have been better with a fumefx and rayfire, but still good

  • @ArsenaultMuzic ... Thanks. I'm pretty sure neither of those are available for After Effects (and especially not back when I first made this). Besides, I barely knew AE at the time, and was mostly interested in seeing "what can I do with 'stock' After Effects?" I ended up using Particular for the smoke and some of the dust/debris etc., but still, everything else was stock AE only (i.e. no prematted footage etc.).

There's only so much you can get out of the stock platform really.

  • smokes to slow

  • @bulletproofw I agree with both you and ClayCFilms.

  • smoke is way to fast

  • that bird made a bombing run XD

  • O_o

  • cool effect, nice animation :D

  • That small camera shake made it look bad.

  • The smoke should've come out just a tad bit slower imo.

  • plz make u complete tutorial on this .........plzzzzz

  • that he is a bird.

  • :D haha great job what do you think of mine /watch?v=tODKaUn-xOM

  • *fat dude on the 5th floor* no more burritos for me.

  • Haha i saw the bird in the beginging and i thought it was a jet haha

  • this z awesome and i actually went back to see if the bird was actually there

  • Pretty good. Tutorial maybe?

  • tutorial would be awesome

  • I don't think bird poop can explode a building

  • @ZeroProduction1000 I found it via google image search. It was many years ago, so I can't say for sure. If it helps, I think it was a photo from the Oklahoma City bombing.

  • I wanna try this with sony vegas! would be cool if I could do the same (or better :P, oh no, thats pritty impossible) btw how long have you been working on this?

  • @MrFireballie I'm not familiar enough with Vegas to say, but I know it to be NLE software, and not necessarily for compositing like AE (I could be wrong though). This took me about a day if I remember correctly (it was one of the first visual effects I created in AE, not to mention it was over 3 years ago).

  • @JuicestainMedia yeah, you're propertly right, altough you can still create some cool stuff with sony vegas

  • dude which after effects is this?????

  • @comedyman95 Any version of After Effects with Shatter (included) and Particular (third party plugin). I did this many years ago, so it was probably CS3 at the very least.

  • @JuicestainMedia i just looked up the current after effects, theres one thats like $180 and one like $500. which on do you recommend?

  • OMG Hellboy :P

  • he did it!

  • well... i gotta be criticist. the fragments gain speed very fast. too fast actually it takes time for real explosion to deliver the impulse that propells the particles. also i would expect this to rip off all the wing of a building. pretty unnatural to leave it standing. perhaps it should cruble in as there is nothing supporting the wall no more

  • just a picture and you use Tracking Motion., correct?

  • Very nice work. We are looking to start doing some effects like this as well... Perhaps a low-budget action flick :-)

  • very nice job!!!! do you have a tutorial?

  • Hum... clean job dude

  • FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Shadowkirby007 ha ha ha After effect lol

  • @mackjaza1994 it was only a joke :D

  • @TheZEROts :D

  • @Shadowkirby007 hahah someone will now come and say:~No its not fake you faggy noob!~ ;D

  • @TheZEROts :D yeah! it was only a joke :D

  • I actually think i might know how to do this

  • not realistic

  • @Johntsarev Hows that?

  • @funnyfootballs watch?v=-Ia9xoGDzIE if u are advanced, u will understand what I mean

  • @Johntsarev This is only the corner.. That was an entire building.

  • @Johntsarev If "u" are advanced, you'd realize the video you gave as an example is real footage of a controlled demolition of an entire building (at least post something made in AE or what not...).

My video, however, is a simple mock "bombing/explosion" digital effect using a still image (no video) and digital effects only (no prematted real footage of explosions, debris, flames, etc.).

Your video for comparison would be the very definition of "Apples and Oranges," my friend.

  • How can i make this ??? Please make a Tutorial or send a link! I will make this effect but i dont find a tutorial :(

  • What's a damage mat? A photoshop-ed picture with a damaged building???

  • i got after effects cs5 and my laptop is a campact pasario c700 (windows vista). after effects doesnt work on my laptop is there a way to make it work?

  • Great video. Keep up the good work!

  • Very good job! It look better than a lot of hollywood movies. Where is that building? It's pretty nice too.

  • @montotosk You flatter me, good sir! The building is the Royal Palace in Madrid, Spain (pretty nice, indeed). Thanks for commenting.

  • @JuicestainMedia Ahh no me había percatado que era el Palacio Real... Con semejante explosión el Rey Juan Carlos se habría llevado un buen susto! Jejejejeje.

  • @montotosk it kind of looks like buckingham palace except for the dome on top

  • Shatter Effect.

    Nice job.

  • FUCKING PIDGEONS.

  • HOLY SHIT MAN THAT SCARED THE SHIT RIGHT OUT OF MY BUTT CRACK

    O_O

  • how did you made that BIG DEBRIS fall???

  • would be nicer if half of the building explode

  • fake

  • OMG! You can do this kind of stuff on after effects!? and i thought that Corel was cool.

  • salam russakam ^^

  • LOl awesome

  • the explosion sound is the M3 shotgun from CS lol

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • amazing!

  • looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • /user/projectragdoll -- hottest effects- blood and gore- the new freddiew

  • Wow thats pretty cool! U seem very knowledgable- could you critique my explosion in After Effects? I would really appreciate it! :)

  • good

  • can you load a tutorial please?

  • El palacio de oriente en pedazos, es impresionante, buen trabajo!!

  • @ETITRA96 Gracias!

  • حتى الاجانب اغبياء

  • Very nice, how did you make the hole in the building and the particles flying out of it?

  • @nusaik The hole was created first in Photoshop. I found a photo of a bombed out building and created a damaged version of the building with that. The exploding blocks and particles were made using the shatter effect in After Effects. So I exploded the "clean" version of the building out and away to reveal the damaged layer below. Pretty simple really. The rest is just layering of the damage, creating different sized chunks and movement variables (gravity etc.) to build up the explosion.

  • It looks pretty awesome especcially the bricks of the building falling down

  • Really convincing. Perhaps you could of used real life tracking data to give it a more hand-held look? Works fine without though, the camera movement just looks a bit digital.

  • Good shit, Still images are amzing

  • did you motion track that part of the building ? its amazing !

  • @zDunnyy Nope. No motion tracking involved, because there is no video involved. I made this with 1 still image of the building and then animated the "virtual" camera and explosion effects in After Effects. I could have made it even more realistic with some cloud movement, basic parallax etc. but I just did this for fun and not an actual production or anything. Thanks for commenting!

  • @JuicestainMedia no problem mate , wow im amazed that thats a still image to be honest nice work !

  • and btw i have tosay its th most realistic video in the hole youtube.

  • does anyone know where to find some sound fx like explosions or collapssing buildings??

  • @petrosMgr I recall using google to find all the sound effects in this video. Just layered them up until I was happy. You can of course buy high quality sound effects from stock audio/music websites.

  • thnx man!

  • @petrosMgr i just use youtube say if i was to have a fire i would just search sizzling fire...

  • lol i didnt consider that haha

  • WTF?!

  • This is awesome! Good job :)

By the way, if you get a chance watch my adobe photoshop fire explosion tutorial!

    :D

  • maybe slow down the smoke a little. the smoke moves a little fast and makes it look like its fake. other than that, the rest was good. nice work

  • youtube.com/watch?v=PKXSNNABcbI why dont you check this out

  • really rare great effect, but i clearly see it is made of picture not from live video, but it looks fantastic 9/10 (because there is allways a better :) )

  • nice

  • WOW

  • any one know how i can get after effects free?

  • @carlshooter2008 If you dont know how to get it for free, just buy it.. if you cant buy it I guess your shit out of luck.

  • i just got after effects cs5 and its quite embarrassing but i dont really know how to use it... could someone make a quick little tutorial on the basics??

  • @ArmoredFuryForces Go to videocopilotDOTnet and find the After Effects basic training tutorials on the Tutorials page. Videocopilot is probably the number one AE tutorials site out there, covering compositing, visual effects and motion graphics. It's where I started, and even to this day I check back occasionally to see if there isn't something interesting or new to learn (always be learning!). Good luck.

  • @JuicestainMedia thanks

  • that looked pretty legit. nice job.

  • Thumbs up if, after it said 'he did it', you went back to see if 'he' was originally there.

  • It looks fake, and therefore awsome.

It has some kind of style that makes it beautiful and has it's on style.

    In my opinion ofcourse.

  • nice ^^

  • 1 second ago hey excellent work,So did you teach youself by learning from trial and error ? And how long take you to learn how do this like a pro so to speak? I'm a beginner and new all this kind off stuff too. Can you pleace make a tutural how to make this and post it on youtube???? AWESOME DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey can get this Effect ?

  • Hey man, Awesome vid! Are you using After Effects or what program? :)

  • So that's what happened to the World Trade Center.

  • why not make the whole thing in maya?

  • awesome video!! I tried an explosion too but is not this good! Good job man!

  • how did you make it at the end all of the debris go back together like its new bcs ive wanted to know for a long time

  • @KRACKHEAD100 That "effect" is achieved using time remapping. There are plenty of tutorials around for that so I won't go into detail, but essentially I made the explosion, added the sound effects then exported and time remapped it all (so all the audio goes in reverse as well).

  • @JuicestainMedia i know about time remapping,,,, but how about the peaces of the building,,, how is that,

  • @KRACKHEAD100 you need a deloreon and a flux capacitor

  • @ripcurl010 how do i get those???

  • @KRACKHEAD100 ITS RAMP SLOW MO!

  • @KRACKHEAD100 CTRL-R

  • You can still see that it's a fake a little but, not sure why but something is missing, not sure if you wanted it to look real but it's great really. I couldn't do that if I wanted ;D Keep practising, you're close to be a pro

  • @HDTVGamePlay I made this years ago (it was my first ever visual effects shot made with After Effects after only about a month of using the program). I made it for fun more than anything, using a still image (I didn't own a video camera at the time) and built-in and plug-in effects only, no real smoke or explosion footage like so many use these days (i.e. easy mode). So yeah, I would hope it looks pretty fake. ;) Besides, I work as a motion designer, visual effects isn't really "my bag". Thanks!

  • He did it!!! XD

  • okay who farted? greet job!!!!

  • Very Good! I like the color style, but there's too much smoke I think

  • Amazing, the only improvement i see, is that there needs to be alot more dust, and the peices need to fly a tad bit further, but still is EPIC

  • Wait the Explosion has to much Pieces. Make Big and Medium Pieces. But Nice work tho.

  • pause it on 0:04

  • xool

  • Wow, great job!!!

  • this is amazing... I love the cloverfield kinda camera shake, its not too extreme, its just the right amount of shake 11/10

  • Man Create A tutorial for this man ! :D

  • I felt my dick move

  • this looks incredible, why am i not able to do this!! :(

  • he did it! made me laugh so hard cuz its a bird

  • can you make a video about how you did the facade collapse? This is a fantastic video, congratulations. i like this

  • funny!

  • "He did it!" xD

nice video, not so perfect, but very nice :D

  • amazing video! i have effects lab pro and i was wondering if theres any program i could get for the debris and particles ?

  • U use AE cs4 or cs3?

  • That's great! How and where did you learn After Effects?

  • Haha, that's really good.

  • wackness

  • Dude, tis is freakin INSANE! I love it.

  • I would well like to know how has t-il make to acquire a so good quality of picture

  • Good job!

Anyway have you seen "Die hardly working" by collegehumor.

They editor said he used AE with the explosions, and it almost looked hollywood-like.

  • He did it!

  • good and funny

  • BIRD TERRORIST RUN!!!!!! :]

    Nicely done...

  • @monkeyattackedmyass It looks fake, because it is. ;) This wasn't even made with video (it's a still image). I never made this with the intention of convincing people of it's authenticity, I made it for fun (not to mention I had only been using AE for about a month at the time as well). It's nearly impossible to get anything CGI to look 100% real (at least for now), and AE is more of a compositing tool. You want real looking, you need real footage (pre matted smoke/explosions) but even then...

  • @JuicestainMedia aye, I love working with real footage in after effects, u can do so much.

  • @JuicestainMedia damn, it actually looks pretty good, the only bad part i the smoke.

  • @monkeyattackedmyass idiotic comment.

  • @monkeyattackedmyass if you wanted to make it look real, have fun spending thousands on a piece of software used in hollywood.

  • @monkeyattackedmyass

    YOU make a better one!

  • @monkeyattackedmyass

    just uploaded something for ya

  • dude this is really good

  • dint look real. but nicely done.

  • reminds me of the mumbai taj hotel attack

    gr8 job

  • good job man! it really looks like its real!

can u please put a tutorial online for this? :D i think most of us wanna create something similar to this :P

    :D

  • @RecordMCS Thanks. I'm considering finally making a tutorial for this sometime during the summer. Friend me or subscribe and I'll send out an announcement when it is done.

  • @JuicestainMedia thanx

i'm waiting for you tutorial xD

  • @JuicestainMedia please do make one, gonna make a Cowboy Bebop styled fight scene and I need to learn how to do explosions >.<

  • @RecordMCS

    lolwutt, it is real!

    wait... no D:

  • Chuck Norris was here. roundhouse kick. That's what happens.

  • nice what did u do to make the building blow off??

  • awsome!! but that bird its a maniac, hehehe, well donne,i have some things like that too!you can visit too []

  • The smoke needs a lot of work, but still its a nice scene.

  • wow super effect.

  • hay, did you use particular and cc particle world and cc pixel polly for that house hole and then just added all that to a reference image of the house? or did you simply animate that debri in a 3d program? thanks

  • @almost1123 I used Particular and shatter. Particular for the smoke, dust and part of the explosion and shatter for the larger pieces of debris (with multiple instances of both at varying particle sizes, gravity settings etc. to vary the size, type and "feel" of the debris). All was done in AE.

  • I bought a Canon Vixia HF200 a while ago and now am buying a new computer mainly to work with the footage inside after effects and adobe programs. I've got a friend whose gonna help me build it, but can anyone recommend parts which would give me a good picture as well as enable me to work fluidly with it in the adobe programs? It shoots 1920x1080 full HD. My budget is around $800 give or take lol

  • :D awesome

  • hahaha

  • hey man, i wasd curious if this would be good for doing blood spatters and gun shot effects. can u use filters as well, like to make it look a certain way, and how about rain?
