  • fair stoppage 2 me

  • I reckon knocking someone out in such a fashion that they fall to the ground is good enough. Maybe he'd have recovered by the time Mpumbu started the ground and pound, but it's also quite likely that he wouldn't have, and he'd have taken some serious damage. The ref can't always wait to see if the fighter recovers from getting knocked out.

It's not as if he slipped, he's clearly out when the second one lands.

  • Fair stoppage, he looked out of it.

  • I hope he beats the fuck out of Hale & wins the belt this coming Saturday...

  • only people that like to see someone get pounded even when their out , think that was stopped too early!!

  • Early stoppage? he couldnt defend the second punch (uppercut), he's not gonna be able to defend the guy standing over top of him raining punches. good stoppage.

  • not a good stoppage, but for a split second there it looked like he was done before he turned over. the ref probably realized it as soon as he stopped it.

  • called too early. @nagone you're high. No one in mma has been beaten to death. That has only happened in boxing.

  • @imthebigbadwolf, You're out of your mind, you know nothing about fighting or it's history. Boxing is a part of MMA sir and the same injuries in boxing you will see in MMA because of that boxing component. I'm near 50 years old, and I have been watching MMA before it was MMA and have been studying the Martial Arts for the last 18 years. So i have some experience to speak from. MMA is not legal in some states just for that reason, because of the deaths in Boxing.

  • Perfect call by ref to stop the fight or he would have suffer unecessary damage. He was stun from the right and the uppercut prove he wasn't defending properly. And those who think he was out need to go and do a fight see. I am a boxer and you can tell when his eye was glazed that he was done

  • The guy couldn't even afford decent shorts wtf?

  • I like the light heavyweight tournament, you give a chance to some unrecognized fighter that often times comes out with something highlight reel worthy, they make "chicken salad out of chicken shit" as brock lesnar would say, oh yeah and I think the stoppage was premature, having said that, if mr. M'Pumbu followed Tim's face with another couple punches I think the result would have been similar

  • early stoppage? What he needed to get knocked out cold?

  • Go the Bamf Fight Gear .com If you want to get a pair of those sick BAMF SHORTs

  • If anybody is questioning the stoppage in this fight, they need to have their head examined! Homeslice was hit right on the tip of the chin=KTFO!! Then he took another tip of the chin strike to finish him. If M'Pumbu followed Carpenter up with anymore strikes he could have killed the guy,....com'on people we love to see KO's but not to see someone killed for god's sake!

  • I was at this event.

    That KO was awesome live.

Without a doubt a good stoppage.

    Tim was done.

  • Hard to say, as a fighter i would have liked to see Tim have the chance to recover and work his guard but i think he was a bit rocked by those 2 shots and likely would have been KO by follow up shots.

  • yeah he got fucked up

  • This wasn't an early stoppage, he fell to the ground and didn't even cover his head. Christian would've continued to punch his unconscious head until the ref stopped it. And the refs job is to protect the fighters. I'd rather see a stoppage like this than seeing a fighters unconscious head bouncing off the canvas. It would've ended exactly like Cain vs big nog or hardy vs condit.

  • early stoppage

  • That seemed kinda early to me but what do I know I'm not a ref.He must have seen something we didn't see.

  • @mmawilldesha , did you not see Carpenter drop like a pigeon turd?? Don't know what fight you were watchin', but i saw that pretty clearly. Very good stoppage by the ref, MMA can't afford any deaths or critical injuries in the Octagon right now. Hell...MMA Professionally isn't legal in NY State.

  • @nagone11 I've been watching MMA for like 11 years now not bragging but I'm just saying I've seen fighters bounce back from worst. Now MMA and New York that's another topic for another time and video.

  • @mmawilldesha , dude was clean out bro, he went down and his hands were by his side.

  • @nagone11 Maybe you're right because I'm trying to see it it just happened so fast and in the slow mo the camera angles weren't so good but I kinda can see where you're coming from because had the ref not stepped in Christian would've pounced on him it took like 30 views but maybe you're right.

  • @mmawilldesha , the refs gotta' protect the fighters. In the old days of boxing that may have continued, but since boxing has had many deaths, in MMA they are on top of a KO quick!

  • @nagone11 his arms werent on his side they were up AND HE could of kept fighting if the ref hadnt stopped it

  • @MrImpala03 , he would have gotten pounced on and damn near beat to death bro. When a person gets short circuit-ed they have to recover for a few seconds. That is why the ref stopped the fight because he was prone and open to get hit dangerously hard and multiple times. People have died this way MrImpala03!

  • @nagone11 true but still i think he should have waited a little longer

  • Carpenter got knocked stupid.

  • to watch all the full fights from bellator 42google mmanewstwentyfourseven and select the second link from the top. The site is full of mma documentaries, fights and news.

  • Great fights on friday night! cant wait for the next show!

  • Give us Bellator in the UK!!

  • EARLY!!!

  • It was early, but the dude was gonna get pounded if the ref didn't stop it.

  • hehe m'pumbu

  • it may have been eary but tim landed head face first if christian wouldve got his back easily and it would be over

  • he'll be the champ coz his name rocks, M'PUMBU!!!

  • Was this stoppage a little early? Yes. Was the stoppage controversial? No.

  • ref just prevented an ass whooppage. u see m'pumbu celebrate immediately after the uppercut, i doubt he wanted to inflict more damage than necessary. good call, dude went slomo after the first hit.

  • the ref did him a favor....he was out on his feet....if he had pounced on him ...it would have been ugly....

  • guy was out on his feet. only woke up cause he hit the deck

  • It's not the worst stoppage I've seen but he really should've given him a chance to recover, considering how much is on the line. When he landed on his ass he pretty much immediately pulled guard.

  • Too early.

Either way, the LHW outside of Zuffa orgs is really poor.

  • @Shirebury its bellator since zuffa is now pimping strikeforce, this is how your gonna get noticed now, bellator is like college football then you go play in the NFL.

  • Sometimes I really question the ref's justification on stopping fights, but this is one of those rare exceptions where it may have seemed bad, but that wasn't the case. His legs gave out, a sign he was obviously hurt badly, so the ref is good on this one.

  • he definitely looked like he was unconscious momentarily. not that bad of a stoppage.

  • That was a sweet KO.

  • A little early

  • That guy is going places, hopefully.

  • I think the stoppage is justified. First punch rocked him, second punch got him the knockdown and if the referee had not stepped in, Christian M'Pumbu would have pounced on him with a flurry of punches and elbows. No unnecessary punishment is needed.

  • @GfpWrestling Compared to a vast majority of stopages, it was really quite early.

  • @pantsempire Fighter safety

  • @GfpWrestling Just saying "fighter safety" means nothing. you seem to think i was attackting the decision. Im not. I just was stating the fact that, yes indeed it was earlier than most people would call.

  • @GfpWrestling exactly.. Only the blood thristy fans are going to complain about this stoppage.. just like Daley v Diaz..

  • @blindbrad11 this was more decisive.

  • @GfpWrestling I strongly agree. Similar to in boxing when they stop a fight when its too one sided, even though technically it could've went till someone got hurt bad.

  • @GfpWrestling This. I don't see why everyone thinks the fighter needs to be out cold for it to be a good stoppage.

  • looked glossy may have been able to go on, likely would have been finished momentairly anyways

  • early stoppage, having said that, Im sure Mr. M'Pumbu would have got the TKO in another 3 seconds given the chance

  • horrible stoppage he was stunned but was ready to defend

  • early stoppage.. the guy still had his guard on

  • @letsgodudes flash KO

  • @letsgodudes haha, yeah after he woke up.

  • @letsgodudes first punch landed and the guy spent about 3 seconds trying not to fall over without guarding at all, 2nd shot dropped him, correct stopage

  • @letsgodudes yeah he could have waited like 3 sec and see if he could continue

  • @grand433 and in that 3 seconds he woulda ate at least 10 blows to the head

  • @Steadno 1-2 sec but good stop im not arguing

  • @letsgodudes He was out when he hit the ground, the referre did the right thing

  • Nice KO,

Bellator have some great talent, wish they showed on TV here in AUS
