Joe Lynn Turner was only the most charismatic Malmsteens singers, but the worst: it was the only singer that has lowered the songs of Malmsteen about 2 semitones to be able to sing these. I agree completely with pirubiru88 instead on the stunning voice of Goran Edman. It 's obvious then that if every day you sing songs in very high tones, you cannot be always in perfect shape...
@DimoItaly Are you sure? Joe Lynn Turner had a very wide range. Btw, the new singer that Yngwie has, Tim Owens, he can hardly reach the high notes of songs from the Joe Lynn Turner era. If he does hits high notes, he screams it.
And this singer, Goran Edman, I think he is a great studio singer, but not live. But hey, everyone has a different taste. Great video!
Turner has a nice voice and I agree but if we look at the pitch, his voice doesn't reach the full hue of the other Malmsteen's singers, even if only slightly. In fact if you listen to "Trial By Fire" you can hear that the songs from Trilogy are sung 2 semitones below.
He is however a great singer, and indeed among all the more charismatic!..! ;-)
@DimoItaly This is true but most songs in Trial By Fire come from Trilogy where the singer was Mark Boals... He's probably got the widest range of all metal vocalists and I mean in full voice. This guy really is an opera countertenor in terms of range, his technique is rather operatic as well... So I can't blame JLT!
@Wouterrj That has to do with different vocal training each singer 's got and also with their voice type. Owens isn't a tenor (you can tell this by both his voice tone's depth and his high notes, remember that he lowered 'Diamonds And Rust 1 or 2 semitones in order to sing it and this song ''only'' goes up to B5) so he uses falsetto to hit really high notes. He is very good, no question.If you are asking me, though, I prefer JLT and Goran Edman, I think they pretty much sing in the same style.

Fire & Ice sold 100.000 copies in Japan the FIRST day it was released.Pretty damn impressive!!!
