just because believing in some sort of god gives you a reason to try to be good, doesn't mean that there is a god. Just because you would like something to be true doesn't make it true.
What you have to remember is that religious folks actually believe they are doing the right thing. We make a huge error when we accuse them of purposely harming people. Most of them are brainwashed and act from instinct and fear - not purpose. It's like accusing the other party of purposely trying to "hurt the nation".
I don't think its that simple. The thing they follow is harmful to them. Most act on fear and simple imagination of the fear of death. Others are brainwashed to serve a invisible being. So, yeah everything is simple to understand about that. However, these people do it out of pure choice. Man has no instinct. Other than that I agree with you 100%
Roannepur - I was raised an evangelical and had about as much choice in the matter as I did my IQ or skin color. As a teen I discovered science & began to think but it was still a long, difficult process overcoming fear & a sense my beliefs were based on myth.
In a way it's like Marxism's fall. Some actually believed that authoritarianism was superior to freedom and individual choice. Suddenly, they felt as if they'd followed a lie.
Exactly, I not saying you had a choice since you were born. However, when you discovered other theroies then you choose as we chose. I'm saying there is no such thing as a man with instinct that's all. Y'know I didn't get that kinda of feeling of being lied to. Just misinformed.
